WTMH nail designs

Had to share these press on nails inspired by WTMH by @lunapressonsbysami. The detail is so good! I can’t pick a favourite but if I had to choose I’m obsessed with the special edition dragon on the thumbnail, the castle and I love the Alice Cao inspired pinky. And shoutout to Nee!

Not Book Four dimensions

Is anyone else slightly irked Not Book Four isn’t going to be the same dimensions as the rest of the series?

For reference (looking at the Waterstones site) FW hardback measures 236 x 156 x 46 mm but NB4 hardback is 240 x 156 x 22 mm, 4mm taller!

Why would they do this?

I realise we don’t know what the book is about and where it sits in the series timeline but knowing Ridoc will feature we can safely assume it’s not a Papa Sorrengail diary or the Book of Brennan. Therefore, I was thinking it could be a little like ACOFAS in that it’s a side story, snapshot of our crew that sits alongside the main story. Another popular theory is that we’re getting a multi-POV book of certain scenes we’ve only had Violet’s perspective on. If it’s either of those and does end up sitting within the Empyrean timeline we are currently in, I would want the book to match the dimensions of current hard copies. 4mm isn’t a lot but as a book designer it’s triggering me 🤣

Note: this post is not intended to cajole negativity, it’s mostly just a little jest at a tiny design detail with the understanding we know nothing about the contents of NB4 so there could be a very valid reason for the size difference lol

Any artists or writers who have made work about endometriosis?

I'm wondering if anyone has come across any artists (any mediums e.g. painting, illustration, photography, sculpture, installation, film, etc.) or writers (essayists, poetry, fiction etc.) who have made work around endometriosis?

I know of Georgie Wileman, the photographer whose photographic project on endo eventually drew her to making the short documentary film This is Endo, which went on to win a BAFTA.

Curious to know of any others!

Kaan by madschofield

Because it’s June and there’s the character artwork prompt, I thought I’d share this portrait of Kaan by one of the fantasy romance genre’s favourite artists madschofield. I’d love to see how she draws other characters.

Do you have a favourite Kaan portrait? Has anyone drawn him?

Post-surgery follow up appointment

I had my excision lap five weeks ago (DIE around uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder and bowel) and am due for my post-surgery follow up appointment with my surgeon.

Buuuut what should I ask?

I want to take full advantage of the appointment but as someone with ADHD and having focussed so much on fighting to get the actual surgery I’m drawing blanks now that I’m finally post-surgery. It’s like my brain has decided we’re done now!

For anyone who has got through to the other side, what were key things your surgeon discussed with you that felt valuable or was there anything you wish you knew or asked about as part of your post-surgery care?
