The new placement eligibility rules are honestly so unfair. 15 companies only + HackerRank scores??

So this is what we're apparently going to deal with for placements now. Honestly, don't you guys think this is extremely unfair?

The 15-company limit itself makes absolutely no sense to me. Out of all the companies visiting campus, we're basically being told that we can only appear for 15 companies and those 15 include the companies we register for as well.

And if this is the system the college wants to follow, why wasn't this clearly communicated before we took admission?

Why make such a major change when we're already in our final year and placement season is literally starting? We chose the college and planned our careers based on the policies and opportunities that existed when we took admission. You can't just introduce restrictions at the very end and expect students to simply accept them.

Honestly, at this point, I feel like I got scammed. 😭

Then there's the whole HackerRank eligibility criteria.

The OAs are conducted in college, and let's be honest, the system isn't exactly fair there either. Some people manage to cheat or find ways around the test, while those of us who actually give the OA honestly and don't want to risk getting caught are obviously at a disadvantage.

If someone genuinely gets a lower score despite honestly attempting the test, why should that decide whether they're eligible for a particular CTC range?

And now there's another issue.

A lot of students who have secured 4/5/6-month internships outside Pune, especially in places like Bangalore, can potentially give the assessment from there, while someone else who's internship is in pune has to physically come to college and give it under supervision. And considering how difficult it already is to maintain a level playing field during OAs, this just feels even more unfair.

And the biggest question for me is:

What is the point of studying at Cummins and having companies offering 10–15+ LPA if my HackerRank score decides that I'm only eligible for companies in the 7–8 LPA range?

I'm not saying there shouldn't be any eligibility criteria. Obviously companies need some filtering. But making HackerRank scores + a 15-company restriction decide such a huge part of someone's placement opportunities feels ridiculous.

And the worst part is that we're finding out about these things now, when we're already in the final year. If these were going to be the placement rules, they should have been clearly mentioned before admission, so students could make an informed decision about where they wanted to study.

Maybe I'm missing something here, so I'd genuinely like to know what others think.

Because honestly, final year mein rules change karke students ke options restrict karna doesn't feel fair at all.

DSY B.Tech CAP Guidance (OBC): Merit Rank 230–240 | Is my preference list good? VIT vs PCCOE

Hi everyone,

I'm a **Direct Second Year (Diploma to Engineering)** student applying through the CAP rounds.

* **Category:** OBC

* **Provisional Merit Rank:** Around **230–240**

* **Preferred Branches:** CSE and IT

I've prepared the following preference list (attached screenshot). Could you please review it and let me know if it looks good, or if I should make any changes?

Current preference order:

  1. COEP – CSE

  2. Cummins – CSE

  3. Cummins – IT

  4. PICT – CSE

  5. PICT – IT

  6. VIT Pune – CSE

  7. VIT Pune – IT

  8. PCCOE – CSE

I also wanted to ask:

* Is this preference order correct based on the **current placement scenario (2026 admissions)**?

* And what are my chances of getting cummins cse?

* Between **VIT Pune and PCCOE**, which is the better option for **CSE/IT**, considering placements, coding culture, internships, and overall opportunities?

* With my merit rank (230–240, OBC), are there any other colleges I should consider adding or reordering?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions from seniors or anyone who has gone through the DSY CAP process.

* **Category:** OBC

* **Provisional Merit Rank:** Around **230–240**

* **Preferred Branches:** CSE / IT

Based on previous years' admissions, what are my chances of getting **CSE or IT at Cummins College**? I'd appreciate any insights from seniors who have gone through the DSE admission process.

Thanks!

Does anyone else go an entire day without talking to anyone?

I'm a final-year CS student (20, F from India) doing an internship. Today I realised I hadn't spoken to a single person since I woke up. I've just been sitting in front of my laptop doing internship tasks that I honestly don't find that interesting.

It's weird because I'm not exactly lonely—I just miss having casual conversations. College friends are busy, everyone's working on placements or internships, and the day just disappears.

Sometimes I wonder if this is just what adulthood starts feeling like.

Anyone else relate? How do you deal with days where you barely talk to another human?

I never realized how much being a lurker works against you

I have used Reddit for a long time but mostly as a reader. I would browse different communities, save useful posts, and upvote things that I enjoyed, but I almost never commented or created posts.

Recently I wanted to join more discussions and realized that being a long time lurker meant I had very little karma. It was surprising because I have spent so much time on Reddit without actually participating.

Did anyone else start out the same way? What made you finally become active instead of just reading?
