I didnt know there was a character named Monica in this game until like 2 days ago

I never properly started 3h until recently but ive seen stuff about it for years and years and genuinely never saw this character named Monica. Im playing blue lions on chapter 3 and I just came across this red hair girl when I was looking something else up and I genuinely thought it was some fan thing because ive seen like every other character in this game except her. I dont know why but I just wanted to share this

Echoes of Wisdom matching boke-aji Links Awakening

Was wondering if anyone has made or could make an EoW styled like this Links Awakening design. It looks like the creator only ever did this one spine

Spines in the style of their original console

Ive seen some people do spines and covers for ports and remakes stylized like theyre the spines of the original console (wii u, gamecube, wii, etc)

I was wondering if theres any for some of these games

- Kirbys return to dreamland (wii)

- Zelda botw (wii u)

- Donkey Kong country returns hd (wii)

- Luigis mansion 2 hd (3ds)

- Mario galaxy (wii)

- Mario 3d world

- nsmbu

Any other ports and remakes

Theres good ones already for Skyward sword, tropical freeze, paper mario ttyd, metroid prime etc

Annoyance with content creators

This is kind of an old topic atp, but it was just on my mind again recently..

I get tired of hearing people on social media (yes people online) and more specifically youtubers/content creators complain about third party support.

Its always youtubers who literally have every console and an expensive gaming pc who start these conversations. Like at the last direct, calling it a port direct. Its really ridiculous how nintendo can show more unique exclusives than Playstation or Microsoft did at their presentation, yet theres still a narrative of "this is a port direct because I only use my switch for exclusives, and they didnt show the franchise I want." Like okay, youre privileged and can own every console and buy games for all of them. Nintendo hardware couldnt run a lot of these games until recently and obviously companies arent gonna have ports of everything ready at release to all dump out at once. If these companies want good sales for their upcoming games, putting their existing games on switch 2 is the best way to gather an audience and gauge interest.

And a lot of the games in the direct werent even old. Stellar blade is only 2024 and this is the first console its been on outside of ps5. Dragons dogma 2 came out a few years ago but this was also the reveal of its new expansion. Onimusha is coming out in a few months and this was the formal reveal that its going to be on switch 2. Lord of the fallen 2 is a 2027 game. Lies of p is 2023, but its dlc was 2025, so getting an all-in-one edition on switch 2 is nice. Metaphor was late 2024. Kingdom hearts series was overdue for proper ports, and kh4 is a huge upcoming game. Final fantasy Resonance is a new game, so is dragon quest monsters. Atelier karia was relegated to a sizzle reel in the north American direct but that was the first reveal of a 2027 game too.

You see what I mean? A lot of these are either pretty recent, past 2 or so years, or upcoming.

Fire emblem fortunes weave is a huge exclusive but always gets dismissed by these people because its not mario or zelda. I have been meaning to get back to the series for a while and Fortunes weave looks so good. Xenoblade is a 2027 game. Orbitals is an exclusive. Rhythm heaven is switch 1, but first party and just released.

The biggest problem of this direct imo was some of the older games were maybe shown for too long. Like devil may cry 5 is pretty old and didn't need a full segment especially when entirely new games got relegated to sizzle reels.

But yeah in general I hate the take that nintendo is only for first party when these same people will watch sony and xbox shows with 2 exclusives and all third party, and not say a thing about it.

Its really because nintendo has an expectation to actually have games which is somehow getting them punished lol. Like content creators and gamers at large accept that sony and xbox dont need to put in effort, but still hold nintendo to the highest standard because "im already rich and buy all my games on the ps5 and my expensive pc, so the switch only counts when games are first party"

Its just such an irritating and out of touch thing that is accepted as a normal take.

Are there any story reviews of lies of p from non gamers?

I was wondering if anyone has seen a review/story analysis of lies of p, whether its a video essay, article, reddit post etc thats done from the perspective of a non gamer who is well acquainted with the story of Pinocchio. I guess what im looking for is like a literary professor or just someone who is well versed in the classic fairytales, their impression of what lies of p does to change the story and create a video game around it. (it sounds kind of silly bc obviously Pinocchio isnt intended to be terribly complex, its a childrens story, but i couldnt think of any other term for what im looking for) I was interested to read a perspective like that once I finish the game.

Again no spoilers bc I havent finished the game but i wanted to know if theres anything like this to read/watch after playing the game

Problem that not enough people talk about (Steam Deck vs Switch 2)

Im sure a lot of people use their handheld systems just at home in bed or around the house, with internet access still available, so this is something that doesn't rlly get brought up enough.

But as a owner of both switch 2 and steam deck, tbe steam deck has a fatal flaw that not enough people talk about: online check ins.

If you turn off the internet and boot a game that you havent played in a while, it probably will fail to actually boot up. Some examples

- Hollow knight silksong loads for a bit then just goes back to the home page

- Final fantasy xv asks you agree to the eula, lets you accept it even though the eula doesnt show up, and then loads for a bit before telling you "you need to be online for the first boot" (regardless of if you booted it before. I have 13 hours in the game, but its been a couple weeks so it gave me this message)

- Shovel knight just wouldnt recognize my inputs? This was the weirdest one. I tried docking it back and using my other controller, using the built in steam deck controls, notning worked. Eventually it randomly let me use the wireless controller but it still took a while and I had to reset the system to get the game unstuck because it wouldnt respond or close.

- Resident evil 4 remake was basically ffxv and silksong combined

- And Mina the hollower... just worked? This is the funniest one. I downloaded Mina a good while ago and did my first boot in this offline test and had zero problems.

Reconnecting to the internet, booting, closing, turning the internet back off and booting will let u play fine, but you have to essentially "prep" what games u might want to play and thats honestly ridiculous. I know the core of this is DRM stuff, but for a handheld it should really be talked about more.

Steam is a reliable ecosystem overall, but seeing people fearmongering about "the servers in 20 years" with nintendo is laughable when you have issues like this today, right now, on the supposedly more consumer friendly pc ecosystem. I can install a game key card game, which requires internet, but after that one time i can turn on airplane mode and play it as much as I want. With steam you not only have the purchase/download internet connection, but you need to periodically boot the game while connected to not run into this problem.

You can get around it, but you have to know how, and that shouldnt be the case. I think more people should talk about this especially within the current conversation of ownership and digital rights. PC handhelds have a lot of hurdles if u want to actually play it freely, as a handheld, without internet.

Action rpgs with fixed positioning

My platforms are switch/2 and pc (steam deck)

Im looking for action rpgs where switching characters doesnt teleport the characters between positions and instead shifts your camera to where the character is. What i mean is games like ff7r, as opposed to how switching characters in ys viii and x works. I like what I played of ys, but ff7r has uniquely satisfying action-hybrid combat that I feel is hard to find elsewhere

Theres some non manga visible but this is the best angle to get it from. Bleach sets there are on top of an unrelated shelf.

Got kagurabachi 7 today early and berserk single 1. Akira box set is relatively recent addition and I haven't read it yet either

Im reading yona of the dawn and debating on waiting for the omnibus releases or just the singles. 48 volumes is a lot tho. Either way its a series i like enough to want to possibly collect.
