Cancel trip due to wildfires?
Hi, I’m sure this is a common question you get. I asked this in the British Columbia subreddit 5 days ago and the general consensus was don’t cancel, it varies day to day and just try to be flexible. But then this state of emergency happened and the wildfires grew much worse in the last 24 hours.
Our 10 day visit (leaving Aug 12th) is Vancouver to Whistler to Kamloops (rest stop) to Revelstoke to Yoho/Banff. We were going to do two days in Revelstoke, which would land about August 17-18th, doing Mt. Revelstoke and a hike in Glacier National Park.
I really do understand conditions vary and we were fine with that, but this seems to have moved into more dangerous territory. I mean, Revelstoke AQI is like 250+. Should we cancel or still go and hope for the best? That’s a lot of money down the drain if things stay bad and/or we get unlucky.
