2003 (mad ?) magazine insert cards!

I just found these in my basement. Ugh! Water damage!

Anyone know if this would have had any value?

I think they came from a MAD magazine or maybe Cracked I don't remember.

Unusual find: 1970s/80s Beatles ceramic tiles from Communist Bulgaria (Han Asparuh Factory)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share this unique piece of Beatles history. 🙂

It’s a complete set of 4 ceramic/faience tiles featuring John, Paul, George, and Ringo, based on their iconic White Album portraits.

What makes them fascinating is their origin: they were officially manufactured during the communist era in the People's Republic of Bulgaria by the state-owned "Han Asparuh" factory in Isperih. They are even still in their original cardboard packaging with the old factory stamp.

I thought it's a really cool example of Western pop culture crossing over into the Soviet Bloc. Has anyone ever seen similar official memorabilia from behind the Iron Curtain? 🙂

What’s the ONE Beatles song you’d play to introduce them to the band?

I recently met someone special who says they’ve never really listened to The Beatles…

What’s the ONE Beatles song that could make someone fall in love with the band?

Groovin’ Up Slowly (A Beatles Fan Album YouTube Channel) Episode 43: What If The Beatles Released Another 1968 Album With No Beatles Songs?

In 1968,  The Beatles released the White Album — 30 songs spread across two LPs. But even that wasn’t the full story.

At the same time, John, Paul, George, and Ringo were writing and demoing even more material that would later appear on their solo albums. Songs like “Gimme Some Truth,” “Junk,” “Another Day,” “Art Of Dying,” and “It Don’t Come Easy” were already taking shape during this incredibly creative period.

This fan album imagines a second Beatles release from 1968 built entirely from those songs. No actual Beatles recordings are included — only solo-era songs that existed in some form during the White Album sessions and surrounding months.

What if 1968 gave us one more Beatles album?

Here is the tracklist:

  1. Gimme Some Truth
  2. Another Day
  3. Sour Milk Sea
  4. Look At Me
  5. Every Night
  6. Art Of Dying
  7. Oh Yoko!
  8. Junk
  9. I’d Have You Anytime
  10. It Don’t Come Easy
  11. The Back Seat Of My Car
  12. See Yourself
  13. Teddy Boy
  14. Oh My Love

EMI House Red/Blue choice?

The Beatles always liked to move forward musically. There were a few times musically where they referenced their previous songs but in general they weren't self-referential IMO.

Because of this, choosing to do the Red/Blue shoot in the same stairwell seems like something they wouldn't have done and I'm surprised John was the one to suggest at this time in their career. It was absolutely a great choice on all levels, perfect in its symmetry and showing how much they changed. But still seems not very John or Beatles-like, especially when the band was feeling less than cohesive. Did John ever elaborate on the choice?

I made custom Blue Stars Snowtrooper figure based on the Turkish Star Wars bootleg Uzay line

I found a few old figures at a local toy shop for really cheap. They were yellow and gunky. Some, I was able to save with the hydrogen peroxide plastic whitening method but the one that I couldn’t got turned into this. I’m really happy with the results.
