Other Contract Offers?

It's well known Cohn drove a hard bargain and never gave the Stooges any credit for how popular they were. Does anyone know why the Stooges never got any offers from other studios? Some leverage with other offers would have helped them immensely during contract negotiations. Even if Cohn had right of first refusal it seems like other studios would have thought they were a valuable enough property to try to sign.

Last one still not hired?

Was part of a large RIF in Feb. Most of the people I was close with have gotten new gigs. I'm the last one not hired. Has anyone gone through this? While it's not like I'm not enjoying the break to some limited extent I also am getting up every day trying to find something, am taking online classes to learn new tech skills. I am in my 50s which I wonder if earlier when I got interviews worked against me but I never got any weird vibes during them and I don't think I come across as slow or not with it.

Happy for those who did get gigs but hurts to feel like an outlier.

Template for Policy Positions

We have seen often that it is too easy to elide things based on how you frame positions. Propose that every political position requires some kind of template so that soft pedaling issues is lessened. Something like:

  1. What is the position and its constitutional underpinnings

  2. What is the actual implementation of the position (not just "trans gender rights " but what does the actual implementation of that mean? Includes timings and expected dependency changes.

  3. Cost and how will it be funded and where will that money come from (new taxes, cuts to other program, what are you offering up from your own side's budget to pay)

  4. Success metrics and time frame and how you will measure and validate

  5. Graduation criteria and how you will rescind the policy if not met

  6. Edge cases (this is the hardest one because it requires poking holes in your own story and offering those up)

Too often parties are unwilling to address these proactively and a tennis match media is unwilling to ask these of candidates. What else might be valuable?

Curley

I've seen the Curley spelling off and on on various settings (on things done during the 30s). Was there a time this was official? Because the adjective is not spelled that way. I thought it was just occasional poor spelling but I also saw some shorts where it was spelled this way as well.

Difficulty of getting Barista-Hired?

Because of the many layoffs happening I have been constantly reading of former professionals having trouble getting hired for even retail/food jobs due to biases against them thinking they'll just leave as soon as they get a 'real' job, plus the difficulty of getting hired with no relevant experience.

For those of you who got Barista type roles (not merely PT roles at your company or consulting doing what you already did) was there difficulty overcoming skepticism about hiring you?

EMI House Red/Blue choice?

The Beatles always liked to move forward musically. There were a few times musically where they referenced their previous songs but in general they weren't self-referential IMO.

Because of this, choosing to do the Red/Blue shoot in the same stairwell seems like something they wouldn't have done and I'm surprised John was the one to suggest at this time in their career. It was absolutely a great choice on all levels, perfect in its symmetry and showing how much they changed. But still seems not very John or Beatles-like, especially when the band was feeling less than cohesive. Did John ever elaborate on the choice?

Does anybody know what happened to Icke Braun? I can't seem to find any info about him other than he provided some Hamburg recordings at some point. How/when did this happen and is he still around? He looked young in the mid 60s pics.

Can you help recommend for me an AI agent course based on my requirements?

  1. Want to learn how to build agents. Have done some simple Claude code ones but want to go deeper

  2. Am a TPM and want to get to the level appropriate to support the type of knowledge needed to find and perform the role and be productive (recently laid off)

  3. Familiar with AWS and ML systems and process

  4. Would like to learn particularly how to integrate with internal and external data sources (MLP), recommendations flows, and general scaling principles.

If anyone has any good foundational courses would appreciate it.

What was preventing the Ropers from returning to 3C? Was it just that they had Furley in place and it was working well? Some cost issue that it was cheaper to have 1 actor rather than pay 2 again? Or did the actors simply want to move on? I don't recall either of them having any more high profile roles but rather just going back to one-offs
