how did you learn how to breath correctly?

So I've been trying to learn how to breath properly when singing here is the thing: I do the lip thrill thing but when I'm singing If I breath the same way I do when doing the lip thrills I can't really hit the notes lol. It is almost like there is too much air lol

But I guess my question is: what do you do when you breathing and singing? Like how does your belly feel? How did you memorize to do the right thing?

Because I feel like there is a right way to do it and It has more to do with posture than with the air itself. And I still haven't quite figured out what that posture should be—especially regarding the belly. Should it be kept contracted? or not? HELP

Make your "SIX" cast with only drag queens from drag race.

As a fan of drag race I know that A LOT of queens from drag race can sing, act and dance, not only that, most of them have a degree on musical theater. So the other day I was thinking about a "Six" cast made only of drag queens and how exciting it would be. So I made my cast ( I tried to match the drag queens personality with the roles BUT ALSO taking in consideration if they would be able to play the part)

HERE IT IS:

For Catherine of Aragon my pick would be: MONET X CHANGE (monet is opera trained so I think he could play the role) I also considered "Peppermint" for this role, and honestly both would be great) but after watching some performances of both I think monet would do it better.

For Anne Boleyn (this one was the hardest for me to think of someone just because she is young and I feel like Anne has this very unique, playfull, personality but I settled with) MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA.

For Jane Seymour I was also having a hard time thinking of someone but it came to me, and I think it is perfect. It would have to be: ADORE DELANO

For Anna of Cleves I immediately thought of BOB THE DRAG QUEEN.

For Katherine Howard: IT HAS TO BE JAN

and last but not least:

For Catherine Parr: OLIVIA LUXX

SO WHAT YOU GUYS THINK OF MY CASTING? WHO WOULD YOU CAST?

Who is your "Mama Rose" from Gypsy?

Let me explain, I know there were a lot of "Gypsy" versions inclunding the original and a lot of REVIVALS. But I got curious to know, when someone mentions "Mama Rose or Rose's turn" or anything about the show, which actress face comes to your mind as the character?

I don't know if this happens for everybody but when someone mentions "Mama Rose" from Gypsy, there is one particular actress playing the part that comes to my mind and that is BETTE MIDLER. That makes sense for me because not only the movie version was the first version of Gypsy I watched but it is honestly the only version I've watched from beggining to end.

I don't know how the movie was received by fans but I actually enjoyed it when I watched. I thought it was good and bette midler is just amazing in my opinion.

EDIT: guys, let me be clearer, I'm not asking which one is your fav or who played it better. I'm asking this in a more subconscious way: when someone says the name Mama Rose, which actress's image playing rose comes to mind? Almost like if that character were a real person.

In what musical theater hill will you die on?

mine is: JOANNA GLEASON DID DESERVE TO WIN THAT TONY OVER PATTI LUPONE

Just watched that clipe of patti saying she should've won and I have seen it before and wanted to do this post for a long time but I always forget. I actually don't even know if my take is popular or not but here we go.

In my opinion, Joanna Gleason portrayed the baker's wife masterfully. I'll start by saying that Into the Woods is one of my favorite musicals, and I've seen several versions, including the film, and none of the actresses managed to portray this character better than Joanna. Amy Adams is a close second tho. Most of the time, actresses are either too campy or not campy enough, making the character apathetic. I believe that the main challenge of the character is precisely to show all the nuances that exist within her, like any human being, to the point that the audience feels her death. And it was Joanna who made me fall in love with the character. Previously, I had only seen the film version with Emily Blunt, which is completely bland, or as we say in Brazil, "has no salt." After watching the pro shot with the original cast, I watched several other versions and never came across one as complex as Joanna's. She made me fall in love with the character, making her my favorite in the entire musical.

Some arguments used to say that the reason why Patti deserved the award over Joanna are the fact that she tap dances. Is that impressive? Yes. Must she have worked hard to achieve such a feat? Yes. The category remains best actress. Personally, I don't think Patti is such a great actress; I think she's one of the best singers Broadway has ever had, yes, but in terms of acting, I think she's good. I've also seen some people saying that Patti isn't even the best Reno, mentioning Sutton Foster, but I haven't watched several versions to be able to judge. This is another one who played The Baker's Wife and made the character so campy and focused so much on comedy that she lost the essence of the character. Anyway, I made this post because every time I see someone belittling Joanna I'm incredulous because that character is so complex and so hard to play EVEN THO A LOT OF PEOPLE MUST THINK IT EASY BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS.

Here's the thing, I think the baker's wife is a "easy" character to do a mediocre job with it, but it is insanely hard to do an amazing job with it and be able to show all her sides. While Reno is a hard character to do a mediocre job with it because you have to sing, dance and act, but it is an easy part to be good with it. If that makes any sense. English is my second language.

Anyway, what she did with that character is masterful and should be taught in schools lol

Do you guys agree with my take? I would love to hear another opinions. BUT ALSO, IN WHAT MUSICAL THEATER HILL YOU WILL DIE ON?

Noel is irrelevant to Ride The Cyclone

First of all, I'd like to say that this isn't an attack on the actor or the character; I love Noel and as a gay man I wish the character was better developed. My criticism is actually directed at the writers who failed to develop his story within the musical.

Every single character in the show is either very important for the plot or take us on their personal journey where in the end the feeling you feel to that character is different than in the beggining, except noel.

Noel's present himself, then sing his song and then FADES INTO THE BACKGROUND. After his solo, he disappears. He has no relevance to the story. To tell the truth, if they decided to get rid of the character, almost nothing would have to be adapted to accommodate his departure.

NOEL'S IS ABOUT HIS BIG SOLO. AND THAT'S IT.

And I have a theory about that. To me it seems like they had this AMAZING SONG and they didn't wanted to get rid of it understandably because it is a showstopper

but they never really knew what to do with the character that sang the song.

they never finished Noel's arc in the show. He doesn't have any closure.

The least they could have done is explain why Noel fantasizes about this other life, which clearly comes from the fact that he has to hide in real life and can't show who he really is. In other words, the fact that he can not be himself and has to blend in causes him to project his desires onto the characters he mentions during the musical. His basically living his life through those characters in the french movies.

And the character never gets there like the others do. He never really have this realization. they could very well have made him understand the reason for this, and in the end, empowered the character as a gay man, similar to Constance's situation.

Or they could have done something similar with what they did to Ricky. Make the character realizes he is now living his fantasies.

To me he is the worst written character in the show. There was so much they could've done with the character. Like they could have gave him an arc of being a rival to Ocean where they kept fighting each other And in the end, they realize they are more alike than they think and make peace with each other. Or make him the funny critical character that makes smart and ironic comments about the other characters. Make him break the fourth wall with the audience. MAKE HIM DO SOMETHING lol

You might ask: how did I get in this hole. Well, I was thinking about differents ways the show could have had and one of them was: a vote from the audience. And it made me realize NO ONE WOULD VOTE FOR NOEL. And then, I asked myself why, and those are the reasons.

He's the only character in the musical that, in the end, you feel the same way about him as you did at the beginning.

What do you guys think, feel free to disagree, I would love the hear your opinions.

Also, English is not my first language, it is hard to express all of my thoughts but I tried. So, sorry for the grammar mistakes.
