Ontario Subaru Owners – Where do you service your Crosstrek besides the dealership?

have a Subaru Crosstrek in Ontario and I'm getting tired of dealership service pricing.

I just paid over $700 for my 40,000 km service, and it feels excessive. The dealership packages seem very expensive, and I'm wondering if there are reputable independent shops that know Subarus well and charge more reasonable rates.

For those of you in Ontario:

  • Where do you take your Subaru for regular maintenance?
  • Any Subaru specialists or trusted independent mechanics you'd recommend?
  • Are you still under warranty, and if so, have you had any issues using an independent shop?
  • How much are you typically paying for services around the 40k–60k km mark?

I'm in Ontario (GTA preferred, but recommendations anywhere in the province are welcome).

Thanks!

Paid $712 for Service B + Alignment on my 2024 Crosstrek. Is this standard dealership pricing?

Hey everyone,

Took my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek into a Ontario dealership for a standard Service B maintenance package. When I dropped it off, I was originally quoted around $450.

While it was in the shop, they called me and said a 4-Wheel Alignment was necessary, which I approved. The alignment itself was $179.95.

With the base service, the alignment, a $25 shop supplies fee, and Ontario's 13% HST, my final out-of-the-pocket bill came to $712.92.

I know dealership service centers always charge a premium compared to independent shops, but I wanted to check with the community—is $450 standard for a Service B up here, and is $180 typical for a Subaru alignment? Just want to gauge if I should shop around at local independent mechanics for my next milestone service. banana

Appreciate any insight!

Hey everyone,

I recently got a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Onyx (Canada edition) and I’m trying to figure out the remote start situation using the key fob.

I keep seeing mixed info online and in the manual, so I wanted to ask people who actually use it:

  • Does the standard key fob actually remote start the car?
  • If yes, what’s the exact button sequence?
  • Or do I need the Subaru app / subscription / dealer-installed remote start module?
  • Some sources say lock x2 + hold lock, others say it won’t work without a separate remote start system.
  • Also, does Canada spec differ from US models?

Right now I can remote start using the MySubaru app, but I was hoping the key fob method works too for quick use in winter.

If anyone with a 2024 Crosstrek (Onyx/Sport/Limited) in Canada has tried it, please share your experience or exact steps 🙏

Thanks!
