Found this kit from ChrisFix’s video 10 years ago but can’t find it anywhere. Do i have to buy it separately? Is it expensive?
My AC is out in this texas heat, help a brotha out!
I want to do something about my car's paint, but don't want to spend alot of money. Is there a spray paint that will closly match my car's color. Any suggestions?
Hello all, I'm back here again!
Recently finally addressed the exhaust leak, so far really only my flex pipe being shredded and old.
What do you all recommend for more quiet exhaust kits? I live in a more quiet-ish neighborhood and get home around 6am, I feel so bad and embarrassed for my loud AF TSX at the crack of dawn 😂
Thank you for any suggestions or advice you may have! :)
I got a check engine light today while driving, is this the catalytic converter??? I’m worried if the honeycomb inside has been falling apart but when I installed my new catback exhaust I took a picture of the catalytic converter and it looked fine, maybe it’s the backside of it?
I drive a 2006 Acura TSX with 212k+ miles.
If you're driving a 2nd generation (2009-2014) TSX and find yourself replacing the battery every 2-3 years, you're not alone. A common culprit is a faulty HandsFreeLink (HFL) Bluetooth module causing a parasitic battery drain. Unfortunately, dealerships often don't acknowledge this specific module as a widespread issue for this generation.
The Problem: The faulty HFL module doesn't fully shut down, slowly draining your battery even when the car is off. Replacing the module is expensive, and there's no guarantee the new one won't eventually fail the same way. Ignoring it can potentially put extra strain on your alternator over time, leading to another costly repair.
The Solution: Disconnect the Module
Since finding clear instructions specific to our TSX was tough, I figured I'd share my experience disconnecting it. It's simpler than you might think and doesn't require removing major console components. You essentially access it from the passenger footwell:
Consequences & Alternatives:
Disconnecting the HFL is a free fix for the battery drain. Hope this helps someone else avoid the dead battery headache and save some money!
Recently performed some long overdue DIY maintenance on a neglected 2012 TSX Sportwagon with 67k miles. It has been garage-kept during 14 years of ownership, averaging less than 5k miles per year. Although it's exclusively used 93 octane gasoline, the only maintenance that was previously done was annual synthetic oil changes.
Some interesting observations:
Ever since i bought the car in april its been wobbling like this. I replaced both front lower & upper control arms, outer tie rods, sway bar end links and i also replaced the wheels and got it aligned. Made no difference. I got it balanced a few times and that made no difference, right now im getting a road force balance since im running new wheels on the front, but this damned wobble wont go away.
Any ideas would be more than appreciated. My next to do is change the inner tie rods, and get the hubs checked.
I just hit a bad bump and my car started leaking this liquid I thought was my oil but it’s more towards the middle by my catalytic converter what could it be? Should I be worried idk?🧍🏽♀️its leaking a lot when I parked up multiple times . I think its just water cause it dried fast and didn’t smell but that bump scared me 💀😭 also the car tilted up. So I don’t even think it hit the middle of my car anywhere …
I’ve been going crazy trying to find a black front bumper for a 2010 Acura TSX.
If anyone has a 2009–2014 Acura TSX they’re parting out or is selling a black OEM front bumper, please let me know. I’m located in New York, but I’m willing to drive a bit for the right one.
Also, if you know of any junkyards, Acura part-outs, or local spots in NY that might have one, I’d really appreciate the recommendation.
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice from other TSX owners, especially anyone familiar with TSXs, the oil consumption issue and resulting timing chain issues.
I have a 2011 Acura TSX sedan, automatic, Tech Package, single-owner car that I bought new. It has about 160,700 miles on it and has been maintained primarily through the same dealership/mechanic since purchase.
Recently, I got the following warnings/codes:
The shop diagnosed the main issue as a stretched timing chain causing a camshaft/crankshaft synchronization fault. From what I’ve gathered, the VSA code is likely secondary because the engine timing fault causes the stability system to disable itself. The car also has the classic cold start rattle, so the VTC actuator seems like it needs to be done at the same time.
The main repair quote I received is from an independent import shop:
Parts pricing seems a little marked up compared with OEM part MSRP I found online, but probably not worth dickering over, though it feels like they are triple dipping on the labor for the VTC strainer and Oil filter gasket replacements since they'd already have the engine opened up for the timing chain job.
On top of all that they also noticed my front shocks/struts need replacing: $1355 [parts $320 (x2); labor: $630].
Finally, this car has definitely has the known TSX oil consumption/warranty extension issue, but the warranty window is long expired. I did not know how bad the issue was or how much it would damage the timing chain until it was too late. Evidently the low oil light doesn't come on soon enough to prevent damage and we never checked our own oil (although did have it serviced regularly).
I haven't gotten a second quote, but I agree with what needs to be done. Assuming the numbers stand, I'm looking at anywhere between $4600 and $5200 approximately (depending on if I can get them to take off the extra labor charges). I did quote the parts myself using Acura's parts store and got the VTC/Timing chain related parts down from $1200 to $965, so not too much difference.
Appreciate any input from people who know these cars. I’m trying to avoid throwing money at a car that’s near the end of its useful life, but I also know these TSXs can last a long time when maintained. For those of you who’ve dealt with this, do the prices seem reasonable? After this repair, how much life could I realistically expect from the car if it’s otherwise been maintained (i.e. adding oil every couple weeks I'm guessing). Would you repair it OR sell it as-is and start looking for something newer? If sold with these issues, what do you think I could expect to get. It drives great, honestly. If not for the check engine/VSA lights and a death rattle at cold start, I would not guess anything was wrong.
Ts flew off of the freeway at 75 mph lmao did any of you guys had this happen before?
This went out a couple weeks ago and im lloking to fix it if anyone knows how or what i will need to fix it
Title says its for the tsx but I cant find anything online with the parts number?
Hey everyone, I've been working on these 3D printed car front key holders and some of the first I made were for a first gen TSX and a CL7 Euro R.
I have them listed on Etsy if anyone is interested!
