[YSK] There is a new 69 min Grand Seiko masterclass with Joe Kirk

If you don’t know it already, there’s a 69-minute Grand Seiko presentation by Joe Kirk (“The Mastery of Grand Seiko,” via Teddy Baldassarre) that is absolutely brilliant.
I don’t know how much GS is paying him, but it’s not enough! he’s a pleasure to listen to every time.

You do have to register with an email to watch it. You’ll learn plenty even if you already consider yourself knowledgeable, it’s the best presentation of the brand and its values/history I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched nearly every Grand Seiko video on YouTube.

[wrist check] 44GS and a question

This is my first real watch, i have done a lot of research before buying it and I absolutely love it everyday!
I just want to know if it’s ‘supposed’ to be too big for me. Curiosity.
Sometimes I’m not sure hehe.

The SBGY011 is 40mm , 46.2 lug to lug and 10mm thin.
My wrist is 7inch (17cm)
The 44GS case wears a bit bigger ? I think mostly because of the long lugs.

I’ve read various posts here saying the 44GS case doesn’t work well in smaller sizes (they must be referring to the 37mm quartz?).
I would like to know why some people think 44GS case should be on the larger side, as i had no opportunity to try one!

Thanks!

Summer bands for 44GS

I like to wear those bands when it is summer time and i might sweat or if it is a rainy day…

From https://www.thewatchsteward.com/store/p120/New\_Colors%21.html

I like it a bit loose, it is VERY confortable,
The ‘G’ claps works very well,

This system doesnt block the view to the power reserve and the beautiful watch’s back, it still wears very thin even if it is a double pass.

I even use it with quick release spring bars and it works perfectly!

I wish they had more darker options as it works better with the long 44GS lugs!

Long short, thin watch, maybe quartz.

Case is really thin, so it should be a quartz watch,
Anyone know the model or brand? Thank you

Lucky to see new models today!

As I am in bangkok for two days, i went to see the relatively new GS boutique (SLGW007 keep calling me..) ,they really have a lot more models available than what is i was expecting…
they told me today only they were exposing the new models not too far from the boutique, i went there:

- the masterpiece is very impressive, the light really dance on the dial/case (almost the same thing in that watch), here a picture comparing with my SBGY011

- The Size of the new divers is perfect, the blue one is more interesting than in videos, it does change of color/tone same as the green one…

- the ice forest is really impressive as well, the size is perfect 37mm, the dial, the gold case..

- SBGY043 was missing unfortunately, i wanted to see how dark the dial is..

- Tokyo leather is on another level…

What is a better fit for a 44GS case? A integrated strap or straight(universal) one?

For me a strap should highlight the 44GS case’s long lugs, for example i think black leather do a better job at this, slim straps help too.

Any other ‘convention’ wearing 44GS and white dial?

Thank you

…is way better than advertised!

After 4500 hours of daily use:

-0.07 s/day

-2.1 s/month

-26 s/year

Way better than the 15s/month in the specs.

Not an U.F.A but older 9r31 manual winding movement.
