I had applied for Malta Long Stay National D Visa at VFS (Chennai, India) on Feb 4th 2026 and the timeline I was given was 6 - 8 weeks.

My application was received by Central Visa Unit, Malta on Feb 9th. I have not received any updates through VFS since then.

Now, my employer contacted CVU directly and got confirmation that my Visa was approved and dispatched on April 7th and that I should follow up with VFS.

So, for the past two days I've called and emailed VFS, explaining the same. But they keep repeatedly saying that my Visa application is still under process by CVU, which is obviously not true. I even got email confirmation from CVU that my Visa application was finalized and shared it with VFS.

It's been 11 weeks since my application was received by CVU and 3 weeks since it was finalized. My flight is booked for May 8th and I need to pay for my accommodation and confirm it before May 3rd.

So, at the very least, I need my passport to atleast be dispatched to me within this week. But VFS has been completely unhelpful. And I'm out of ideas.

Is there anything I can do here to pressure VFS into properly looking into my issue and ensure I get my passport and visa in a timely manner?

Would visiting VFS in person help? From what I understood I need an appointment to visit them.

I'm currently in a lose-lose situation. If I confirm my accommodation in the hopes I get my visa before my travel date and I don't get it, I lose a lot of money. If I reschedule or cancel my flight, I lose a lot of money there too and flights around May last week or June first week seem to be 3x the price already.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
