Lounging Lovely was released in May of 2004 as the sixth SBL or Superior Blythe. She retailed for 10,290 JPY, or about $115 USD. She is one of a handful of releases that were designed around and named for an original Kenner fashion concept. This one was one of the Blythe's Boutique fashion packs offered by Palitoys in 1972.

Junko Wong elaborated on this idea from the 1970s by dreaming of a girl who was lying down on a sofa playing music while relaxing. She comes with a tiny record player and a mug for her favorite cozy beverage. This practice of expanding upon the original outfits to include complimentary accessories that told a little more story about the concept as Junko Wong imagined it began with Dottie Dot.

Lounging Lovely had all default eyechip colors in their default positions: Green (left), Blue (right), pink and orange. Her hair was a true black. She did not have any "special specifications," her pullring was the default skintone, she had unpainted nails, and her ears were not pierced.

Leopard Sass sashayed into our lives on December 20, 2013. She retailed for 14,490 JPY and is one of the FBL or Fairest Blythe girls, meaning she has a distinctive kittenish quality to her face that collectors either go wild for or just don't really get. We only ever got 18 FBL Blythes and they were released concurrently with RBL and RBL+ molds.

Leopard Sass Redressed in a naturalistic style

This is one of those dolls that really shines in a redress, it was hard to choose from all the great looks! But according to the Official Blythe Collector's Guide, most of the budget for this doll went to her faux fur not-quite bucket hat. She's also got a allusion to the timeless fashions of Christian Louboutin: Her black bootie pumps have red bottoms. The team decided to highlight the shoes by providing optional faux leopard fur toppers for them.

Leopard Sass had one special eyechip color, a light brown, and it may have been a last minute decision to move them into the right position, as her CWC Press Junket claims erroneously that they are front facing. The rest of her eyechip colors are green (left), blue, and pink. Her clover stand was bright red.

Cappuccino got that morning coffee brewing for us in September of 2009. She was distributed as a normal release for a middling 13,400 JPY asking price. She is supposed to look like "A lovely vintage Hollywood actress."

As is fitting for her name, which extols gossiping over a hot bevvy, we have some tea for you about her from the Official Blythe Collector's guide. Apparently the material for her coat and hat were quite a challenge to source at a reasonable price and scale. The team was also divided on what shapes to use for these garments, and the ultimate decision to give her her trademark silver hair was last minute!

Cappuccino Chat featured the RBL or Radiance Blythe mold. She had one special eye color, the front facing purple, with the rest of the eyechips in default colors and positions: green (left), blue (right), and pink. She had pierced ears with gold toned round ball studs in them. Note the special "purple" eyechips read more as a dark oxblood and in most photos appear to be brown.

Prima Dolly Ashletina was from the generation of budget dolls that really took the name of the line seriously: she was one of three offerings dressed in ballet clothes (the other two being Prima Dolly Aubrena and Prima Dolly Violetina). She was released in December of 2008 for a wallet friendly price of 8,400 JPY.

Part of the vision behind the budget line was to offer an affordable base to collectors for customization and personal concepts. By 2008 the Blythe Beauty Contest had already been in swing for nearly three years, so it is no surprise that when you visit the Flickr Photo Pool for these dolls, many of the photos are of customs.

Prima Dolly Ashletina featured the SBL or Superior Blythe face mold. She had all default color eyechips in their default positions: Green (left), Blue (right), orange, and pink. She was named for her haircolor, which was described by CWC as "Ash Blonde" and "slightly curly." She came with a white clover stand.

Tweedly Do was the first doll released in the year 2005, she came to us in January for a modest 10,290 JPY. She was a Toys 'R' Us Exclusive and like many dolls from that era she came with extensive stock by the standards of today: a collectible photo card, a hat, a headband, AND a hair ribbon, both mesh stockings and socks, a pair of faux-leather choppers, a green beaded bracelet with matching green studs, a shawl, a crinoline under skirt, a pair of ballet flats AND a pair of books with nylon laces, her pink backpack, and finally a set of super cute red gingham panties and a matching bra. Her stand was brown.

Tweedly Do's look was apparently inspired by institutional and timeless fashion house Dior, this according to the Official Blythe Collector's Guide. Dior has been using Tweed on their runways and in their collection for decades, so it's hard to say which exact look inspired the CWC Team.

Bohemian Peace was released in summer of 2010, she retailed for 14,490 JPY and enjoyed a normal distribution. The previous month saw the advent of fashion collaboration and Meet Blythe alum Ahcahcum Zukin, who was nearly double that price when she came out in June. Both dolls notably feature a nod to 1960s style and also have side-swept red eyechips in common, albeit in different shades.

Bohemian Peace redressed

The inspiration for the concept of Bohemian Peace was very personal to Junko Wong, the CEO of Cross World Connections. She was supposed to embody the casual style of the 1960s fashion that Junko favored herself during that time, and according to the Official Blythe Collector's Guide, out of all of the Neo Blythe releases, this one is the one that Junko believes most resembles her personally.

Bohemian Peace is an RBL or Radiance Blythe. She has one special eyechip color, Red Wine, which is in the Left position. The rest of her stock colors are in non-standard positions, with green to the right, rounded out by orange and blue at the front.

KEITA MARUYAMA for Blythe Jade Garden or Jade Garden was released on December 20th, 2024, and marked the second fashion collaboration (the first being with the Korean brand Milk with Fighting Milk Saranghae) for the Good Smile Company since taking over production of Neo Blythe from the Takara/Tomy Company in 2021. She retailed for 31,500 JPY and was the fourth GSC release to sell out during her pre-sale period.

Jade Garden had a remarkable first in her design: a brand new shoe mold. This marked the first new shoe mold since Good Smile Company took over, and it had been years since Takara/Tomy had produced a new shape prior. Her shoes were a simple ballet flat shape with a minimal heel and molded string bow detail. It was the first and last time we saw them, the mold hasn't been used chosen for a doll since.

Jade Garden is one of a few releases notable for the fact that she features purple tinted brunette hair with bangs/fringe. She is in company with Regina Erwin (2014), Lady Camellia (2016), Blythe Adores Anna Sui (2017), Daunting Drusilla (2019), and Angelica Nurse of Compassion (2023). While there was a lot of buzz around Jade Garden at the time of her release, she remains one of the more easy to obtain and cost effective options within this group especially if bought on the secondary market without her stock.

Jade Garden had the full compliment of "special specifications," with two-tone eyeshadow, cocoa molded eyelids, long lashes toward the outer corners of her eyes, pierced ears, and a coral manicure. She had a special black medallion pull with the KEITA MARUYAMA logo on one side and the Blythe logo on the other in gold. Her eyechips were all special colors: Jade Green (right), Peach Pink (left), light blue, and light beige.

Ahh, Blythe Adores Anna, one of the most enduring and coveted grail girls in the entire history of Neo Blythe. This girl was a collaboration with fashion designer Anna Sui and only 500 of these were offered in a international lottery, the rest had to be purchased in store through a second lottery. She was released to the public on January 27th, 2017 and retailed for 29,300 JPY. Despite the fact that she is one of the most sought-after Neo Blythe dolls ever made, there is no official word on how many were produced, only how many were offered at international lottery.

Blythe Adores Anna is one of the only Neo Blythes who has consistently commanded secondary asking prices near $1000 USD. It is a dream of many collectors to find her at a reasonable price. She is listed on CC Toys NIB for $1,380 at the time of drafting this article.

Apparently Blythe Adores Anna was a huge undertaking for the CWC staff, they worked with Anna Sui for 15 years before finalizing a design. At the time that talks began, she could have materialized as an EBL or an SBL with a different hair color altogether, this according to the Official Blythe Doll Collector's Guide.

The iteration that we got wears a miniature version of an outfit right off the runway from Anna Sui's Fall/Winter collection in 2015. She has the full compliment of "special specifications": She is an RBL+ mold in the Fair (natural) skintone. She has dual shaded eyeshadow in Light-Brown to Pinkish-Orange. She has a full set of custom eyechips: Grey (right), Light Green (left), Light blue, and purple. She has a special pull featuring the Anna Sui Logo, a purple manicure, and a light brown eyelid molding color with special eyelashes. Her ears are pierced.
