Well, it finally happened, almost 20 entries in and I had to leave Instagram tags to be able to write one of these articles. That makes sense since the Simply Series was supposed to entice customizers and from what I can tell, it sure did! Not many of these girls around these days. Simply Delight was released in November of 2012, and she along with her sister Simply Love Me, released in December, marked the end of the Simply Line and all budget lines until this very year when we got Dolly Days.

These girls were released with simplified stock, only a tunic style shirt designed to look like a gift for the holidays, and a pair of leggings. They both came with a broad plastic headband and a pair of boots to finish the look. Their stands are the default white clover stands. They retailed for 12,390 JPY each. Simply Delight is up for sale right now on CC Toys for $195 USD with shipping and tariffs included!

Like all dolls in the budget lines, she has the default eyechips in their default positions: Blue (right), Green (left), pink and orange. Her hair is side parted and a cute light auburn color. She features the original RBL mold.

There were two Anniversary dolls released for the 7th, today's girl is on the right in her stock

Christina the Bride is one half of the set of two anniversary dolls released in the year 2008 for Neo Blythe's 7th year. She retailed at a steep 27,300 JPY and came in a box that was designed to look like a leather bound book inside of a slipcover. There were only 1,004 of each of these dolls produced and they were given serial numbers printed on what CWC described as a bookmark but is actually a brown oval made of card-stock with a bit of ribbon attached. In addition to the two full sized dolls, there were also three petite Blythes in the series released for the 7th Anniversary.

According to the official Japanese Blythe collecting books, Christina was named after a friend of Junko Wong, a fan of Neo Blythe, and she got married the year the doll was released, inspiring the story and name of the doll. The boxes were printed with an original fairy tale story written to celebrate the 7th Anniversary. Christina's stock featured a removable bridal underskirt that could be removed to change her stock wedding dress into a short party frock.

Christina has quite a few "special specifications." She has all four eyechips created for her: Yellow (right), Light Purple (left), Light Brown, and Green Blue. Her pullring is a milk pink color with a Tiffany Blue ribbon bow affixed to it. Her eyelids are in a special beige molding color and have a dark brown eyeliner, the lashes are upgraded. She has a bit of pearl eyeshadow under the eyes as well. Christina the Bride features the SBL mold. Her gaze is more downcast than otherwise.

This makes an interesting counterpoint to the Harper’s Bazaar interview with Petra Collins from over the weekend, but keep in mind that this was not at all scripted, I just had to spin this stuff on demand from memory haha. Our girl Ashley really living up to her name, with her broken instagram tag... 500+ posts apparently but I can see exactly four! Ashley's Secret was released in May of 2014. She features the RBL+ mold and has a little narrative blurb we can share about her concept:

>Everyone has a special secret.
Ashley is just the girl to tell your secrets.
She'll keep it private and give you good advice.
She is so very trust worthy, but very sweet.

While it's never been confirmed, there are whispers in the community that her concept took inspiration from the hit show Pretty Little Liars which ran from 2010 to 2017. The look of her stock does support this theory, it was a very headband and sweater set heavy moment.

Ashley's hair was a challenge out of the box, many collectors made the mistake of brushing her curls, leading to a big poofy mess. She also was a release that had a lot of frayed ends. Her hair is similar to the 2019 release Fani Flamingo, who also features the side part with no bangs. There were quite a few other Cap'n Crunch heads but they had bangs/fringe.

Ashley featured one pair of special eyechips, a front facing light blue. The others were blue (right), green (left), and pink. She was something of a bargain at the time, listing at 13,800 JPY along with five other dolls that year, the lowest buying price we'd seen for at stock doll since 2012's Simply Line dolls. 2014 was a high-low year, on the other end of the spectrum there were two dolls that retailed for 22,000 JPY: the bride Bianca Pearl, and the Anniversary Matte girl Regina Erwin.

Takara had two budget lines during its run of production: Prima Dolly (2006-2009) and the Simply Line (2009-2012). Takara/Tomy stopped producing Neo Blythe in their factories in 2021, and Good Smile Company took over this part of the process from then until present day, and finally, 14 years after the last Simply doll, we will have another budget line... get ready for Dolly Days!

What is a budget line? Well, it's just a lower priced offering to help both new collectors and aspiring customizers access an authentic Neo Blythe. They come with simplified stock and default eyechips. This particular budget line has one more doll announced at the time of this article: Dolly Days - Sleepover

The irony is that over time, these "budget line" dolls have become some of the most sought after dolls in the bunch (Example: CC Toys has a Simply Sparky Spark listed at $998 USD right now), this is because the demand for them at release tends to be low, so they are made in numbers that reflect this, typically 500 - 1,500 dolls. This is another reason to be excited we are seeing the latest budget offering and being able to get in on the ground floor.

I know what you're thinking, why are we getting a history lesson on Budget Lines? Where is the info about Dolly Days - Weekend??? Well, it's because in addition to being budget in design, she also has the economy background information, her CWC lore reads:
