For those of you who do occasional sitting outside of your main position, do you have a written policy about payment, cancellations, etc. I’ve never put a policy in place, but I want to. I had a family cancel on me one hour before the booking today. They paid me in full without being asked, which I appreciate, but I don’t want to depend on someone’s thoughtfulness. I am curious if you have a short document that you send to families and what is the gist of it?

The past month has been rough. So much screaming, crying, whining. I am trying to redirect him and get him to talk nicely. His vocabulary is stellar and he is very capable of expressing his feelings the right way. The car ride home from morning activities is filled with lots of crying and carrying on. It makes me not want to take him anywhere. Lunch is pretty rough too, until he finally goes down. I need a nap.

Does anyone have a structural engineer that they recommend? Also, has anyone here worked with Skywark Engineering and have feedback on them?

They were really nice and the dad made an amazing pizza for us. Was excited to make some good money because they extended the time. Sat down to eat a snack and broke a crown. 😭

I have Spotify premium. A few months ago I discovered a podcast that is intentionally soothing and boring stories, so you can fall asleep. I don’t listen every night, but a few months ago I listened on a red eye flight and it was great. Last week, I had trouble sleeping and decided to listen again. This time there were loud, jarring ads (think car dealership or mattress ads). It rendered the podcast unusable.

I have an issue with rain that comes in my kitchen window. I have had three different handymen out who have caulked around the window on the outside and inside, but this is a band aid. I need someone who can solve this issue for good. I will need new drywall in part of the kitchen. And my gutters need some modification. They were recently cleaned, but the gutter over this window needs to be extended I think. But one company that can do the work inside and outside would be great.

And every single time, without fail, get the message, “Something went wrong.”

I am so fucking annoyed with myself. I probably won’t even fix it because I don’t want to shell out the money for it. But does anyone know of a reasonable place to get my paint repaired. No dent, just a bad scrape. 😢

Has anyone had an attic fan installed in the past couple of years? Do you have a recommendation? Also, how much did it cost?

I occasionally get those pig butchering scam texts and I just delete them. Yesterday, I got a text from an unknown Florida number. I don’t live in Florida or know many people from there. The thing that was different: this text sounded like the something someone in my life would say. The text told me that the sender was going to make a specific food from my culture and invited me over for some. It hit too close to home and gave me the creeps because it felt like the sender knew too much, but it’s not someone I know. Someone else in my family also got this text, but it’s definitely not someone we know. Is anyone else getting texts like these? Are they using AI to get more info about the recipient?
