so I passed the upcat and already confirmed my slot in elbi. it’s a dream of mine to study in the up system however I severely underestimated how living there would be. so I decided to transfer to dlsu instead due to personal issues like my location and support system being too far from home. my family income can sustain the tuition naman so I think it makes sense for me to transfer anyways.
but here’s the problem. a month ago, I locked my decision on up thinking i wouldn’t change my mind then so i didn’t bother responding to the dlsu offer letter. i did get to inquire onsite but they said that I should wait for the day of enrollment to see if there’s any slots left. based on my department, it would be on the 25th
here’s the other problem, the deadline of up’s online requirements is drawing closer. I can’t fully commit to my decision of transferring because the slot isn’t guaranteed (since i didn’t respond to the email long ago) and if it turns out that there’s no slots, then I wont be going to college since I have no backup. Not to mention that the deadline of the second batch of general appeals falls short before the 25th.
at this point I feel bad for myself with this selfish gamble of mine due to my own indecisiveness. If I forfeit my slot right now, people would have a slightly better chance of getting in up but I have to rely on pure luck to see if I still have a slot to transfer to, otherwise I’ll be a gapyear. If I kept my slot, I would still have a university to fall back to if I didn’t succeed in my transfer, but my slot wouldn’t go to those deserving of up much earlier if I did succeed with the transfer.
they’re probably under attack by an angel rn
Hello, I have a friend who didn't make it sa UPCAT (her UPG is around 2.4) and she's currently applying for the General Appeals. She passed the DOST scholarship and plans to pursue her pre-meds at UPM ;-;
She initially thought about going for BS Nursing but she then realized it isn't covered by DOST, so her remaining options are BS Biology, BS Biochemistry, and BS Pharmaceutical Sciences. I would greatly appreciate some advice to help my friend out, Thanks!
I had just watched this episode from witch hat atelier but I can’t unsee their faces in these kids lmfao (sorry for the crap picture, I can’t screenshot on netflix)
hello, I'm an upcoming first year student who had already accepted my admission in UPLB, but recently had a change of heart because the campus is too far from home. Like sure I can handle the academic related stuff and how to navigate the campus, but I just can't thought of living alone way from my family, not to mention that the dorm we reserved was expensive and too small for 3 or more people.
Ever since I passed my CETs, it has always been a battle between UPLB and DLSU for me (both the same program too). One is free but the other is closer to home. My family can handle either financially but I ultimately chose the former that day. But ever since, I began losing faith in that decision: did I truly want it? did I choose it just to help even if any is fine? was it only because of the name and reputation? was it FOMO since my classmates would've instantly picked that? In the end, no matter how long it'll take or what route I used, I'd eventually graduate and end up in the same place soon. Also, some of my family members wished I picked the latter ever since my initial decision phase; now I'm wondering if I only did that as an act of defiance.
Now regarding DLSU, do they still accept late admissions/enrollees? Would I still have slots for my program? If so, what should I do? Well I passed the test last April but I didn't reserve my slot nor paid the fee before the deadline last May 17. I've read that enrollments start next week but I'm not sure if they'd accept someone who practically gave his slot and now wants to get in again. Not to mention the threads I read were outdated and are usually questions about those who didn't pay or submit their reqs but probably accepted the offer in the first place.
I need help cuz I keep worrying about the possible deadline and unavailability of slots. I wish I wasn't indecisive about everything. Thanks for the advice
hello, I'm an upcoming first year student who had already accepted my admission in a certain state Uni, but recently had a change of heart due to the campus' location from home. hi, I'm an upcoming student who had already accepted the admission from a certain red university, but not yet fully enrolled since I haven't passed all the requirements. However, I've been pondering on transferring here since there's still some time before the semester starts. Thing is, I've already passed the admissions test last April but didn't reply to the offer that time. May I know if I could still apply / appeal / transfer here even if it's past the deadline? Do I have to take a special test again? Do I still have slots left? I will be taking the same course tho
I'm considering this because at the time, I was considering whether to study here or the other one, but I eventually chose the latter. The problem is, the university is sooooo far from my home in Manila and I have to worry about living alone, dorms and rent. Last week, my parents found a dorm near the campus but the rent is too expensive, even for just two people. We initially planned to have one of my classmates split the bill so it won't burden us much but I soon found out that he's gonna settle for a much cheaper dorm, so I'm basically left alone. Worst part is that we already paid the reservation fee and finding a dorm mate is difficult cuz the price is too high for someone's budget.
The other day, I was told that my dad is fine about settling on a different dorm since he could recover for the lost amount in a few months. But I still feel bad for them. I know it's just a dorm problem that could pass eventually but I've been worrying about them worrying about me. I thought that I'd be better off if I'd just travel in Manila than being far from home for 9 months per year.
Also, my dad always wanted me to pursue my studies here in dlsu from the beginning when I was still deciding on which uni I'd choose, and it's for a good reason since too. He already has experience in companies / corporate and has plans for me in the future. And I know to myself that I can manage studying in either university since I know they're both good, I've came to like both of them. I knew I'd be able to help my family in one way or another if I studied in the other, but knowing them, they could still afford it here and tuition won't be much of a problem to them. Now I'm starting to have doubts about being isolated and alone.
There's also a bit more factors affecting my decision but that'll make this post too long. I'd like to transfer soon even if it's hard, but I'm not sure if I would be able to since it's past the due. I don't know if they'd accept late acceptances of admission since I was already qualified in the beginning. I don't even know if there are still slots available. Thanks
