Sock / Fabric Poi

I made my partner a pair of sock poi in December, I used a nice cotton fabric (non stretch) and they are tearing by the handles from usage. I’m happy he’s playing with them so much but he asked me to make a third and I want to re- do the whole set but want to switch fabrics.
Any recommendations on type of fabric? I attached photos of the rips in the fabric

Need reassurance tailoring a rayon dress!!

I thrifted this size 18 dress easily over 10yrs ago (I wear a size 4-6), it has never fit me and I always made it work. I have been sewing for almost 2 years and finally feel ready to tailor it to fit. I’m just not feeling confident in my ability to rebuild the garment if I take it apart. It is not a handmade garment, it’s branded JBS - looks like maybe 80s or 90s brand.

I thought maybe I could bring the sides in and be fine but after a long assessment I determined that if I want it to TRULY fit me I need to take it apart and reassemble as I’m looking to bring the center section up on my torso more. The back has some ruching that should sit mid back and the V sits very low on my chest as well.

Any advice going forward would be appreciated as I’m terrified I’m going to ruin this dress and not know what I’m doing after I seam rip it apart 😭
PLEASE HELP ME

Transportation from Lake Atitlán to Cobán?

Planning a trip next month and trying to figure out the logistics of getting from Tzununa (or Panajachel) area up to Cobán? Is there any sort of overnight bus that is available? Looking for options and input!

I’ve been at this restaurant for a few months now, I am a very bubbly, outgoing and kind server to all my tables + guests but especially regulars. This particular regular sits at the bar (not my section) and I’ve chatted with him a handful of times and served him once. A week or two ago he was in and asked what my favorite flower was, that kind of raised a flag for me but I brushed it off as casual convo or just general curiosity but today proved otherwise.

It’s a kind gesture for sure but I don’t appreciate being hit on in any form while I’m working and I certainly won’t / don’t date guests or coworkers (plus I am in a committed relationship as it is)

How do we feel about this? How would you feel receiving this yourself? I realize I need to reach out and reject him softly as he said this took him about 4hrs to make…
