Did anyone have a shoulder injury that ended up being a neck injury?

I just got my MRI arthrogram back and it doesn’t show anything really of significance. Maybe a minor labrum tear. I’ve been having shoulder pain since my injury but I also have pain on the side of my neck. PT, massage, a shot, and acupuncture has not helped me. I have been in PT for 8 months now. I’m getting really frustrated about this because I’m experiencing pain and have been since I was injured. I frequently feel pain that feels like it’s going down a line, like from my neck to my fingers. I thought the MRI would give me more answers and now I’m left with more questions.

If you get SNAP, CSA might be a good option

This definitely will vary state by state. I just learned today that in my state we have CSAs that take SNAP and they give a 50% discount, for double food bucks. They either have pick up or some have delivery. With the discount it makes it more affordable to access higher quality food. They also don’t require full payment upfront and will do monthly payments for SNAP. I am signing up for one that starts in September for 35 shares and it will be $86 a month. That will be enough produce for both me and my daughter. They have other ones too for meat and dairy. I wish I had known about these sooner, it’s a good option if it’s available in your area.

How long after surgery could you lift 5 pounds?

I am not sure if I am going to need surgery yet but I am expecting it and trying to prepare financially in case I do. My job is physical and I potentially have a SLAP tear that is effecting my bicep tendon as well. I have an MRI with contrast in a couple weeks for more answers. If you had surgery for SLAP tear or on your bicep how long until you would lift a coffee cup, a large drink cup, and about 5 pounds of weight?

MRI experiences with SLAP tears

If you have/had a SLAP or tear what types of MRI did you have? If without the contrast did it show up or show up as a lesser injury? Did the one with contrast show a worse injury than without? I have had an MRI without contrast so far but I will be having one with it soon. On my MRI without contrast it showed blunting and fraying of my labrum.

Haven’t done an order in over a month

After doing over 11k orders for Instacart since 2020 they have finally pushed me off the app. After months of barely making over $200 a week and never getting sent my old regulars I basically just switched over to Ubereats and DoorDash. I opened up the app today since it’s slow on those two and I am not missing anything. High mileage, high item, 4 shops, and now I’m gold tier. I turned it off. Ubereats and DoorDash have their problems too but I feel so much better mentally not constantly staring at my phone to probably miss one of the only decent orders I get sent a day. Instacart used to be the best app and now it’s the worst one. Instacart wants to make us work hard for basically nothing and it just keeps getting worse as time goes on. Every year I’ve watched my pay go down and that’s because Instacart is greedy as fuck, everything they do is to find a way to better exploit us.

Dismissed by an orthopedic surgeon

Has anyone else had this happen? I had to switch orthopedists because of my insurance. The first one was fine and gave me a cortisone shot and told me to make an appointment in a month if it didn’t work. In his notes he put surgery as an option if other treatments fail. The cortisone shot didn’t work at all. Then I went to a new orthopedist a month later, I discussed my injury with her and she said surgery was the next step and to make an appointment with the surgeon to talk about it and schedule it. I had my appointment today with the surgeon. When I got there I was talking about how my physical therapist suggested I stopped doing therapy until my surgery was done. Then he said to me “what surgery?” I said to him isn’t that why I’m here? He doesn’t think surgery is necessary. He also gas lit me about my injury. He suggested I keep doing PT, get massages, and acupuncture. I asked him what happens if none of that works? He basically told me nothing. Then in his notes he wrote that the cortisone shot brought me relief, when it didn’t at all and he didn’t even have my explain how to shot effected me. I’ve spent the last 3 weeks expecting that I was going to be getting surgery and now I’m back to the same place I was before. This is all getting really frustrating and I feel like I need to find a new orthopedist after that and get another opinion.

Request for after surgery items

I am requesting some items to help me after an upcoming surgery. I do not qualify for paid leave because I am 1099 and I have to save up for my bills during the 4-6 weeks I can’t work. I was rear ended in a car accident on New Year’s Eve and the seat belt injured my shoulder. I’ve been seeking treatment for the last 6 months which has failed and I will be getting arthroscopic surgery. The items I am requesting will help me a lot day to day during my recovery. The link for my Amazon wishlist is posted below.

At what point is it good to get a lawyer?

I was in a car accident on new years with the other party at fault. So far the insurance has been working with me and I haven’t had any issues. I have been receiving treatment since then and today I found out I will be needing surgery. I was going to ask the person assigned to my case what the at fault parties policy limit is. At this point though my injury is getting complex I’m thinking it might be getting to that time where I might need to get one. I’m looking for opinions and advice.

Bicep Tenodesis

My orthopedist said that they are going to do the exploratory surgery and a bicep tenodesis. Those who have had this surgery what were your experiences? Did you have to be put under for it?

How much better did you feel after an iron infusion?

I have low ferritin and I will be getting an infusion soon. How immediate were symptoms improved? Did you have to get more than one. I also was in a car accident on new years and I suspect part of the reason I haven’t healed is being anemic. Has anyone’s else experienced something similar and did it help with healing after the infusion?

Lease renewal time and I asked for a rent reduction

Rents have gone down in my area since I moved in and the similar units are going for $150 less. I saw on another sub to ask the landlord if they can lower rent when this happens. My lease renewal just came and they said they would reduce it to match the rent of the other two bedrooms. I am so glad I have a decent landlord now after having a truly horrific slumlord.

What are your healthcare costs?

I have OHP right now but I want to get a different job. I’m trying to get an idea of what people are paying for healthcare. I know it varies by employer but I want to see what I might be in for. What do you pay monthly, deductibles, and co-pays?

Edit: I would be looking for a job in web development/CS.

Types of jobs I should apply to with my skills/education?

I am going to be starting my job search soon. Currently I do gig work like Instacart and DoorDash and I’ve been doing that for 6 years. Before that I was a stay at home mom. I graduated college with a BA business sustainability degree 11 years ago and I went back to school 4 years ago for a coding certificate. What are some types of jobs I can apply to related to this? I am looking for work from home or very little time in an office.
