Bought my first cue Cuetec Avid (secondhand) and the balance is too rear for me. Remove the 1oz bolt = perfect balance but too light. Any fix?
I finally pulled the trigger on a Cuetec Avid as my first proper cue. Overall love it. hit feels decent, looks clean. But after a couple weeks of playing I'm pretty sure the balance is too far back for me.
The numbers:
With the stock 1oz weight bolt**:** balance point is 17.7" (from the butt). Cue feels butt heavy to me. My stroke feels fine on short shots but on longer draws and follow-through I keep feeling like the back end is swinging around my bridge hand.
Bolt removed**:** balance point moves to 18.5" , this is the balance I actually want or prefer more forward. But now the cue dropped a full ounce and just feels like a toothpick. My speed control fell apart the first session I played without it.
So I'm stuck between "right balance, wrong weight" and "right weight, wrong balance." Is there literally any way to keep the weight AND get the more forward balance, or do I just have to pick one?
For context: beginner-ish player (about 6 months), mainly playing 9-ball, 19oz was what I learned on at the pool hall house cues.
