What scans should I look to get first as I move from PAP treatment to structural corrections?

Currently on the waiting list for PAP, due soon, but I want to get my ducks in order for next steps and am looking into MMA etc. What are the key scans and whom should I go to, OFMS?

I see people post:

- X-rays

- CBCT

Are there particularly types of these or particular details I should consider when getting this done?

Thanks

Also, I'm in the UK in the South, not far from London so any specific recommendations also welcome. Assuming NHS will not cover so I'm expecting to self pay

Giffgaff iPhone 15 refurb low quality as I expected/feared

Just as I’ve heard about backmarket, the phone looks pristine (even at Good quality, the lowest) but:
- the battery has been replaced with a non-oem which gets very hot and minimal battery life
- screen has been replaced with a low quality screen with inferior colours and probably higher power draw. Also has touch issues
- the power button is mushy

I think a lot of the positive remarks about these could be by people who don’t realise they’re using a low end refurb

Exchanging once to see if the second is better, else back to my iPhone 11 lol

Cannot select AlphaWordPlus applet on my Neo after failing to load corrupt file

Hi there I have a problem with my alpha smart Neo which was previously working just fine until for some reason instead of editing file 1 as usual, I thought I'd write my journal in file three today just to spice things up a bit. When I did that I saw after typing in the file password some error message about this file being corrupted. I pressed enter a few times as it showed me various text outputs about this issue and then I turned the device off and on and now I'm unable to select the alpha Word plus app which is the applet in which one does all of the normal writing stuff. When I press enter on it nothing happens. All of the other applets allow me to enter them for example I can open the calculator. I've tried removing the AA's and putting them back in again and no change. I've turned the device on and off multiple times with no change. What else can I try?
What has caused this? Any ideas? Thank you so much.

Options for parking and leaving the van during the day?

Overnight parking currently sounds like the easier part, I’m in the Manchester area, so my plan is outer city / rural parking overnight, peak/lakes on weekend. But on some days I will need to be in the Uni, I guess I should look into buying a parking permit somewhere?

Curious if people find the two work well: move for the night, use a permit during the day?

Dear friends, the time has finally come. Just upgraded to a used iPhone 15. Keep going strong, my trusty 11 will become my secondary iPhone for travelling etc.

Fuck consumerism 🙏

Device for measuring blood o2 at home?

Trying to collect as much data as I can (I’ve already had a sleep study). Any experience with this o2 reader or similar? It’s concerningly cheap but I guess this is the sort of thing China has mastered production of?

I am looking for something on the cheaper side, but only if it is accurate.

OxiPro OX2 Oximeter - Health & Pharma Awards Winner 2026 - Fingertip Pulse Oximeter/Blood Oxygen Monitor - Finger Oxygen Saturation/SATS Monitor to measure SpO2 / Medical Device for Adults https://amzn.eu/d/01KCFniv

Edit: I’m a dummy this one would not work as it takes a single reading.

Talk me out of / into moving into a van in September

Hi there. In September, I'm moving to Manchester to start a PhD. The first 6 months are in Manchester, and the next 3.5 years in Cambridge. I want to be able to at least have a deposit together to buy a property by end of my PhD, which I can achieve if I don't spend money on rent during that time.

I have spent ~1 year of my life backpacking, living in hostels etc. so I have a love of travelling and willingness to give up some normal aspects of life in order for freedom and interesting experiences. Of course, I'm expecting van living to be much harder (/present different challenges) than communal living.

I need to buy a vehicle regardless. My plan is to buy something that I can live in e.g. a "micro camper" and attempt to live in it for September / October until it gets really cold. At that point I may pack it in and get a permanent address, or stick it out if I can do it, perhaps upgrading to a larger vehicle/DIY conversion once I know I want to do it.

I would still be saving money if I only rented for e.g. November-February every year, and I am fortunate to be able to go back to my parents.

I'm also considering leveraging the ability to sleep in my own vehicle in order to e.g. sublet my apartment, or list it on AirBnB.

How is the Manchester "area" for van life and what about Cambridge? I'd sooner live on a boat but I'd first need to acquire some more money which van living could help with. I'm also under the impression that river living in Cambridge is impossible except in some cases where the spots are all taken many times over.

I would have access to showers, 24/7 libraries etc. in both cities, and would have the ability to leave for road trips, camping etc. very flexibly. I can potentially even drive out to Europe over the winter as the work is for the most part remote.

Everyone I have told about this thinks I'm crazy. The main thing I have not quite got my head around is parking up in Manchester, a city I do not know. I'm wondering whether driving out of the city to park is the best option. What about paying to stay on a campsite longish term?

Any ideas and advice welcome. I have no idea what I'm doing but have been browsing FB marketplace and gumtree for vehicles.

Today I was diagnosed with mild Sleep Apnea & UARS and I have never been happier to receive bad news

For years (since 18, now 27) I have been telling doctors that something is badly wrong with my sleep. Unfortunately in the UK it is incredibly hard to be treated for “non-essential” medical problems. Anyway, I finally had an in hospital sleep study which showed mild sleep apnea and UARS. Despite the problems with our system I am very fortunate that Vik Veer and colleagues have a world class group that is treating me for free for this issue. I am now on the waiting list for a CPAP. I cannot describe the euphoria I felt hearing the doctor tell me I showed spontaneous multiple awakenings etc. (I’m sorry I forget the terminology), I told her it was the best I’ve ever felt on hearing bad news.

My advice to any young thin fit person who snores like a dying animal is get a sleep study whatever it takes. People will ignore you because you are not a stereotypical candidate, but be assured there are people of all shapes and ages who suffer from breathing related sleeping disorders. If you are in the UK then your best bet is to pay for your own at home sleep study and use that as evidence for your doctor to take it a step further. I have spent years on waiting lists at this point but I am finally on the path of treatment and I am elated.

I was convinced that I did not sleep a wink during the sleep study and be told they did not find anything, but they did! I can’t wait to start PAP treatment.
