When to build unit?

My BO is usually happiness/monument (for fourth and later cities), granary, workers until i have 1.5xnumber of cities, food trade route. Is it worth delaying national college for preparing against backstabbing and is mercenary army worth spending a social policy? I realized the gold cost is dirt cheap.

Is it worth building petra with no desert hills?

I'm on Deity, my second city has strong production but no desert tiles other than the deset tile i settled my city. After i gave it much thought, petra also gives +6 culture after researching archeology, meaning it gives +1 more culture than parthenon and also giving +1 trade route.

Does anyone build culture building (other than monument) on non cultural gameplay?

Amphitheater, opera house, etc. I've never build it because it only provide a trivial +1 culture but they are the only building for increasing culture on expansion cities if all the guilds is in my capital lol. I never turn any great person into great works on non cultural game.

Civ made OP by settings

Inca on highlands with ridge and dense mountain. (maximum terrace farm potential, beware of barbarian tho)

Germany on Marathon speed with raging barbarian. (You get units faster than your population growth i always reach unit supply cap early game)

Poland on great plains. (Reroll until you get 3+ pasture start i guarantee you the map will have abundance of pastures)

Anything else?

Assigning specialist in expansion cities

Do you work specialist in every city or only in capital? The GPP generation is seperated and the yield is weak.

Follower belief pick

Is feed the world and religious center worth considering over religious building? Now that i think about it, they're essentialy second granary/colosseum in every city and religious building is goddamn expensive unless your faith is strong.

I love playing as barbarian

I've been harassing this CS since the start of the game and look at my spearman promotion who need a barrack lol. TIL Marathon speed doesn't increase the XP needed for level up

Does the AI receive buff for building wonders on deity?

On the civilization wiki, the AI 'world train rate' on deity is the same as on prince but why the heck i can't nab the usual wonder? I always steal workers early to improve all the production tiles while building wonder but i still cant catch up. I'm starting on Classical era to eliminate the tech advantage but it doesnt help me from consistently getting the wonders except Oracle lol.

Production penalty from having unit over the supply

When playing as Germany especially on Marathon, i can get units from barbarian faster than my population growth. There's a -10% production penalty from having too much unit, is it worth keeping? i assume yes because -10% production modifier is miniscule early and unit take forever to build but what do you think? I usually use the unit to farm XP from nearby CS so most of the time they arent idling.

Does anyone like to settle on desert tile?

People always argue whether it's better to settle near mountain, hill, etc but i like settling on tundra/desert tile. I feel like im not wasting the 2f 1h tile even if im missing some resource on the 3rd ring.

Is it better to raze and resettle than annexing?

Courthouse is expensive and took so damn long to build. The 5 gpt maintenance cost can also make me go bankrupt in early war. What factor do you think is it worth building courthouse?

From worker stealing to DoF

When i steal a civ's worker, either that civilization or the nearby civilization will DoF me, isn't declaring war supposed to give diplomatic penalty? I tried doing it on deity to make sure it's not just a prince thing but i got the same outcome. The civ that i stole their worker doesn't hate me either, only rarely they will march to my city if it's close. Has anyone ever experience this? I could see this as a strategy for playing Sweden lol.

Is Inca the best wide civ?

I used to think Inca is a tall civ but the terrace farm is highly situational, most likely you wont find that many mountain tiles lol. The half cost/free road could save a lot of money and your unit ignore terrain cost on hills, meaning your worker and settler move like scout as long as there's hills.

Is it possible to capture city with only melee unit?

Everytime i try it all my unit ends up dying, the only time ive ever succesfully done it is with Zulu and Songhai (until their UU become obsolete lol). The problem is when a city is covered with forest and hills, ranged and siege unit become useless. Naval warfare is easier because you can hit and run but most likely a city only have so few coast tiles for ship to enter.
