"brown girl approved" is my biggest pet peeve

It is so annoying to see girls from all over Asia titling their beauty routine or a product as "brown girl approved!!" because they approve of it personally on their own skin. brown girl already is an amorphous term that encompasses many different ethnic groups, skin undertones and overtones, hair types, etc. just very strange and feels somehow even othering to use that to discuss specific beauty care recommendations for a diverse population.

The new Noma metro gate system is trash

everyday now there’s a line, even when it’s slightly outside of peak hours, because this system doesn’t respond to different demand over the day. closing half the gates all day on one end to force people to get into lines isn’t peak actually.

Watched psycho!

>!I watched psycho for the first time. I only knew there was a hotel employee named Norman Gates and nothing else. Because it sounded like a thriller movie, I was wondering if Marion’s lover would kill Norman out of jealousy, or if Norman had poisoned the food and that’s why he wasn’t eating.!<

>!i noticed that other people didn’t like the psychiatrist scene at the end but I did like it because I wanted answers. I think the psychiatrist scene made it more tragic because he made it clear that the kind seeking Norman who gave Marion food and seemed likeable was a separate personality and gone (although he sucked for being a peeping tom). after the movies end I replayed Marion and Norman’s conversation where he talks about traps.!<

>!Norman says he thinks about setting the house on fire and leaving, which is sad when that side of himself didn’t win and became destroyed, since the psychiatrist seemed definite. when I was watching first time I thought his mother was alive so I thought his wording to “at least“ leave and put the house on fire was very harsh at the time because it could kill his mother. but now I realize this might be some truth poking out of his continuous delusion that there was nothing and nobody there anymore. might as well set the house on fire to free himself when there’s no real mother inside and just a corpse.!<

>! Unfortunately Norman was allergic to all accountability either of himself or his “mother“!<

>!also another part of the movie I liked was that Norman bates was conventionally handsome, because that implied that society wasn’t directly isolating him for his appearance, like some other pop culture media. When the deputy sheriff wife heard of a Mrs Bates she seemed so excited to imagine Norman getting married. He clearly had some friends in those people at least even if he didn’t use them much and self isolated !<

Wish there was a game that had SimsCity elements in it

I've played SimsCity 4 a while ago and I felt very attached to my neighborhoods, apartments, farms, facilities, roads, public transportation systems, etc. I felt like I knew the whole history of a neighborhood's development, the jobs the people in there were likely to have. You can even follow a Sim around the city, but obviously not control its life a lot.

I think Sims 2 went the closest in this so far with its level of town customization (I haven't played Inzoi or paralives) but I wish there was a game that blended it together somehow. I want to play with a character inside a neighborhood I helped start and see how the community interacts with each other on the inside while maybe on another mode help them out with building a new hospital and making the school less crowded.

funny thing I noticed

I'm watching Blade Runner for the first time today. It's obvious how 1980s America feared Japan's influence. I think it's funny how there was a sign for Atari at one point in this movie because it took place before the American video game industry collapsed in the mid-1980s, to the point Atari is basically unknown by 2019, when the movie was supposed to take place...

Is there a hospital like the decaying one in infection (2004)

To put it bluntly I’ve only been to nice local hospitals in the U.S. so watching the movie now, I’m super surprised that a twenty first Japan could relate to a hospital like that.

I didn’t play for a long time and now I’m completely lost

I’m about 20 hours in apparently in market square somehow but I can’t even defeat the regular shadow enemies in front of me?? Is there a walkthrough for this kind of situation, including every detailed part of spells and battles

▲ 5 r/Afghan

I noticed this with Afghan Love Story on Letterboxd (which I watched a few years ago and only remember Persian). I thought this was a one off thing until I noticed that a review with Akhtar from 1981 mentioned that movie had similar issues, until I guess someone fixed it. Now I realized that even THE KITE RUNNER, the most famous Afghan film, and also the most Kabuli American movie I could think of, doesn’t even have Persian listed as a language on Letterboxd.

I haven’t watched Osama can anyone confirm that it’s actually primarily Pashto speaking like Letterboxd indicates?? I glanced through the movie a little and I only see Persian to be frank; and I believe the movie is set in Kabul.
