Gambling with Libertads

My first ever Onza! It may be the most beautiful coin I have picked up so far!

Living paycheck to paycheck, I don’t get to buy silver as often as I want to. When I do, I usually buy 1 ounce rounds because it is the closest to spot and silver is silver. That said, when I started going into my LCS a few months ago, they kept bringing up the spike in the prices of Libertads. It kept ringing in my ears. So the last few paychecks, instead of picking up rounds, I have been grabbing Mexican silver (so much for buying the dip…). I don’t know why they are so over spot. Maybe it is just scarcity. Maybe it is the well endowed design. But I hope that by gambling, the payoff will be better when I cash out!

Love Letter to a Workhorse

Just want to give a shoutout to the humble Buffalo Head Rounds. The sovereigns may get a ton of love, but these rounds are always there for us. Almost every mint makes one, there are a million variations. You can find them near spot almost anywhere when you are low on cash but need something shiny. A beautiful, classic American design that we all fell in love with at some point.

As we get closer to our 250th, the ASEs will get the love, but thank god for the humble Buffalo Heads.

Fireworks...

I am done being the cool guy about people enjoying their fireworks. I don't care that it is America's 250th. I don't care that is a "time honored tradition." Nothing about these are good.

Every year we scream about the same things. It scares the shit out of the veterans, animals, and the elderly. It creates litter constantly that ends up in our waterways and kills animals. It pollutes our air (especially in neighborhoods like those in Omaha and Lincoln). It injures countless stupid people because 'MERICA. Oh! And this year the state experienced some of the worst wildfires in our history because people are too stupid to follow rules and worry about things like red flag warnings.

As I sit next to Fontenelle forest (who has had two brush fires of its own this year), watching human garbage let their kids set off fireworks IN THE GRASS NEXT TO OUR WOOD FENCES and wait for the cops to come, all I can think of is why in the flying fuck do we do this every year? So that some drunk frat bros can cosplay that they are "real men" in Fallujah? So that families can bond over kids blowing their fingers off? What the fuck is this for every year?

And His Hair Was Perfect…🌕

Finally found a werewolf! It is even more impressive in hand!

Much like other posters though, I echo that this is a series that Canada needs to continue. I know there is a Kraken to hunt down, but give me a good Sasquatch design, give me Ogopogo…

Get it together Canada 🇨🇦

North American Wood Ape! 👣

You ever just have that one piece that you know you are never going to sell…

I have searched for Bigfoot for years and this may be as close as I get. Intaglio Mint’s Cryptozoology Collection.

Sanitary Boxes...

I want to preface this by saying that there is nothing in this world easy about being a new mom. Trying to juggle six different crises a day, while trying to keep a small human alive, while also trying to keep your identity? You are all far better humans than I am. That said, I do have a request...

You can't use the sanitary boxes in the bathroom stalls as your own personal trashcans.

I know that bad days happen. You are standing in the handicap stall, changing your baby on the changing table because they had a blowout and suddenly your toddler starts crying because, for a completely unknown reason they have just wet themselves. You handed the toddler a cookie and are doing your best to change them both and get to your doctor's appointment on time. But the trash can is all of three feet away. PLEASE throw the diaper, the underoos, and the half of the cookie your toddler didn't eat into the trash. I know you are flustered, I know you are just trying to get out of Dodge. But by putting that all in the sanitary box, you have created a chain reaction that is going to ruin my shift. Suddenly, for some women, it is monkey see, monkey do. Now they are going to put candy wrappers, makeup wipes, and half an ice cream cone in the box and I can't get it out to clean it properly because it is too crammed full. Others will, not wanting to touch a diaper or pee soaked clothes (fair enough), will set their used sanitary products on the floor, on the back of the toilet, or try to flush them. Now that entire stall is less sanitary.

Please, please, please use the box for what it was intended for. It makes all of our lives easier.

P.S. I am aware that none of this will ever happen. I was lucky a kid didn't just back up to the wall and shit on it and try to write the alphabet in it. But a man can have his really sad dreams, can't he?

Questions!

So, I found this at a coin show this morning and immediately fell in love. For those that don’t know the history, long before Mothman, Point Pleasant was home to numerous battles with Native Nations, concluding with the murder of Chief Cornstalk and his curse on the city (may explain the demon bat monster that showed up in 1966). Anyway, I need to find out if this counts as a sovereign 1 ounce (the Shawnee are a nation after all). Are there more Native mints? I would love to support them!

Gotta love a beautiful coin with mysteries!

THE TRUTH 👀

I am a dyed in the wool conspiracy nut. I believe:

The CIA killed Kennedy from the grassy knoll.

A UFO crashed in Roswell in ‘47 and the Air Force lied about it.

Are we sure jet fuel melts steel beams? Like really sure??

I know Elvis is working at a Burger King in Minneapolis.

But I never believed in “Q”. I thought it gave us a bad name, I think that the current “political rounds” you see at coin shows lately have awful designs. But I couldn’t pass up this one. Cool conspiracy history and silver is silver.

Out of This World 🛸

Kudos to my LCS for helping me find two of my bucket list coins today! Though, the man in the shadows smoking a cigarette watching me sort through coins was a bit unnerving…

The truth is out there friends! 👽

It is okay to not be okay…

I know there are a ton of people on this feed that are incredibly proud of their work and go above and beyond every day to make the world a cleaner and shinier place. I salute you all.

But for the rest of us… It is okay to be miserable. Or upset. Or stressed. Or to hate every minute we are working. Nothing about this is fun. We are scrubbing shit stains out of toilets (and sometimes carpet). We are fighting trash bags filled with coffee and glitter. We are dealing with people that don’t see us as people and coworkers that act like we are insane for not wanting to be excited to be here. It sucks. I see you. Let’s do the bare minimum and run out that door together. Don’t let the bastards get you down!
