Why is Dengeki Daisy being singled out now?

With Dengeki Daisy finally getting an anime, I've been seeing a lot of people saying it's "problematic" because Teru is 16–17 and Kurosaki is 24. I'm not trying to convince anyone they have to like age-gap romances or that it is correct or not correct, everyone has different boundaries, but I do think the discussion online has become a bit black and white.

To me, there's a difference between saying "this trope isn't for me" and saying "this story shouldn't exist."

Dengeki Daisy isn't an explicit romance. It's primarily a mystery/drama with romance developing over time, and from what I remember the story doesn't glorify predatory behavior or revolve around sexualizing a minor. The emotional connection and the overall plot are what people loved about it.

What also confuses me is that age-gap romances have been a staple of shoujo (and other demographics) for decades. Some examples include:

  • Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet
  • Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi
  • Takane & Hana
  • Living-Room Matsunaga-san
  • House of the Sun (Taiyou no Ie)
  • Daytime Shooting Star (Hirunaka no Ryuusei)
  • Fruits Basket (some side couples)
  • After the Rain (Koi wa Ameagari no You ni)
  • Love So Life
  • Dreamin' Sun

I'm not saying every one of these relationships would be healthy or acceptable in real life. Obviously, if this happened in reality I'd have very different feelings.

But fiction has always explored taboo, messy, or morally complicated relationships. We read stories about murder, revenge, yandere characters, vampires, assassins, and all kinds of things we wouldn't support in real life. Why is an age-gap romance automatically treated as though readers are endorsing it?

So I'm genuinely curious:

  • Do you think fiction should be judged by real-world moral standards?
  • Is there a difference between depicting something and endorsing it?
  • If you dislike age-gap romances, is it because of the age gap itself, or because of how it's written?

I'd love to hear different opinions as long as we can keep the discussion respectful.

From your experience is Spicetify safe to use?

Hey,

I have premium spotify so the only reason I want to use it is for the themes to make it a more customized experience for me. I am scared though of getting banned or my account being disabled, will I be safe as long as I don't use the paid features extensions?

[Routine Help] Advice for a skincare routine. Any help is appreciated!

So this year I’ve been making a lot of changes for myself, working on my confidence, fitness, overall self-care, etc. One thing I’ve completely neglected though is skincare 😅

I’m 23 and honestly the only thing I really use is moisturizer. Don’t come at me lol.

I want to finally build a simple, solid skincare routine, but I have no clue where to start and I don’t know who to trust online because everyone seems to promote 500 different products.

My skin is kind of a mix between dry and oily, especially around my T-zone. I’m not looking for some crazy 12-step routine — just the essentials for healthy, good-looking skin even though I would love to achieve somewhat of a dewy skin.

What are the basic products I actually need? Cleanser, moisturizer, toner, sunscreen, etc.? Any beginner advice or product recommendations would really help. Thank you all ❤️

Question/Advice

Hi there,

I am not seeking medical advice but want to know if anyone else who has had bariatric surgery has experienced this. I had bariatric surgery recently and before that my periods were all over the place some months I would get them, but some other I would not. Now after I had surgery and lost a lot of weight all of a sudden and I understand that my hormones as all over the place too, I have had my period for 24 days straight and it seems to keep going. I will go to a doctor next week but I am worried, is this something normal, maybe something any of you have experienced?
