How do you dress your pump up?

What are your favorite ways to dress the pump up? I would like some pretty stickers, holders, etc. I love pretty florals, wildflowers, BoHo. I’m a female and the black case and black giant oversized beeper look isn’t doing it for me. I need something to cheer me up as I’m chronically ill. Lower priced please.

Instinct sensor timing

Due to my first Instinct sensor failing while in hospital in the middle of the night, my change is at 1:30 am every 15 days. I can’t start one early as I get mine shipped on tight schedule. Will it throw off majorly or make SG stop if I delay one til morning and be without it a few hours? I don’t know how to reprogram.

Irritation difference in infusion sets?

I have been using edtended infusion set with no issues since I started months ago, but last week, endo gave me a Mio by accident. She was giving me some samples to get me until my next fill. I ended up going 2 1/2 days and took it off, but it is red and so itchy and irritated. It bothered me the entire time. Is there some major difference between the two that would cause this or has anyone else had this issue?

Bolusing for no carb meal?

I often wake up feeling famished and I have chronic illness so I don’t have a lot of energy to make a full breakfast. This also applies to the middle of the night sometimes where I will sometimes just eat something like a baby bell cheese or a beef stick so I can go back to sleep as the stomach hunger gnawing is terrible. I will often eat one or two boiled eggs with a slice of cheese for that early breakfast just to get that extreme hunger out of my stomach and then eat something bigger a little later. This is virtually no carbs. I wasn’t bolusing for it so no carbs to count, but I have started reading that I should bolus for it because I need to tell the pump I’m eating, plus the fat and protein can spike me later.

What do y’all do in this situation? I am still relatively new to insulin, doing MDI for a couple of months and now I’ve been on a pump for a couple of months. My doctor so far as entered all carb ratios and settings as I’m new. Thank you.

Is needing to change empty insulin reservoir every two days a lot?

Anyone else who uses the 7 day infusion set/reservoir have to change reservoir about every two days? I am new to pumps. I started MDI insulin for the first time ever in January and switched to a pump less than two months ago so I am new to carb counting and insulin still. Is this considered a lot to be using or common? That's like 275 every two days. Even though it is supposed to be 300 it always shows about 275 when I change it for some reason.

How do I learn this?

I got put on a pump and my Dr so far has been programming all of this into my pump, but I’d like to be more self-sufficient. I had a MiniMed trainer originally train me how to use it, but I was not taught any of this as she entered it herself. I’ve written him a couple of times asking and I keep getting referred to dietician so I don’t think he is understanding what I’m asking.

Anyone have any good online programs they can suggest for me? It seems like when you’re diagnosed with diabetes and put on a pump they would put you in these programs, but I’m having trouble finding one on my own. I have this pump on me all day and I don’t even know how to work it on my own, except to change out the insulin and enter carbs. I know when type ones are diagnosed they are usually trained in the hospital, but I didn’t have that.

Insulin-to-Carbohydrate Ratio (ICR): Learning the math to figure out how much insulin is needed to cover the food you eat.

Correction Factors: Learning to calculate how many units of insulin are required to bring a high blood sugar back into target range.

Anyone want to commiserate on bad timing for insulin to run out?

Am I the only one that it seems like my insulin always runs out in the middle of the night? I will be low at bedtime but have a good amount left in the pump and not want to waste it. Then of course at like three in the morning is when I run out and I’m so groggy and I have chronic pain so then I either have to get up then or be without insulin for a few hours. Only me?

What holders or pouches or cases do you use?

I have sensory issues and chronic illnesses include fibromyalgia and ME/CFS and flop around a lot in bed. I can’t stand the pump hanging off me like a pager or rubbing my muffin top. I have been using this Diabelt and love it pretty much especially for sleep but would love other options other than black fanny pack chic. I’m a plus sized woman who likes cutesy.

Also anyone know of undies, bra or stretchy shorts or yoga pants that may have a pouch for it?

What is your usual units for those not low carb?

I am LADA and new to insulin and a pump. Started pump within a couple months of MDI due to be often bedbound and hard to keep up with pens and the automation sold me. For those not low carb, what do y’all books for typical making eating like wings and fries? This is a once weekly meal but o feel weird dosing for like 90 carbs. Normal or no? Usually meal is lower carb but now low carb. Maybe 25-30 carbs. Thoughts? Should I dose lower and let pump adjust as needed? I am having to replace the reservoir every 2.5 days to 3 days. Am I doing wrong? Is this normal? Others use this much or most have it last 7 days?

Any suggestions on over tape/cover for extended infusion set?

Do they make covers for the actual 7 day infusion set part that goes into your skin? I wear one over my instinct sensor, but I keep kind of pulling on the cannula and I don’t want to rip it out at night. I was hoping maybe skin grip, but I didn’t see one. If anyone can give me some specific suggestions, I would appreciate it. Especially if anything waterproof for swimming too?

Also does insulin get too hot in 100 plus summer heat on your body?

How low do you let your reservoir go?

This is my first pump ever and I’ve been on it a couple of weeks now. I’m still learning all of the tricks. When your reservoir gets kind of low, when do you change it? I keep getting a low notice usually middle of the night and I’ll be so sleepy that I’ll wait till the morning but sometimes it runs out before the morning. If you’re getting somewhat low like 40 or 50, do you just go ahead and change it out and waste that insulin or wait till it completely runs out?

Old school burger joints in Cypress?

Are there still any old school burger joints that make the burgers from scratch and also serve malts IN Cypress? The malt part isn’t a dealbreaker, so if they don’t serve those that’s OK, but needs to be old school not something that opened in the last few years and preferably been around for many many years. Looking for a place that is like eating a burger that your grandma made. I grew up in a small town that still has a place like this and I really miss it. I haven’t had a good OS burger in so long.

App won’t connect.

Does anyone have issues connecting to the app? It’s 5:23 PM central time where I’m at. I saw a message about the CareLing going down but not at this time and it didn’t say it was going to affect the app.

Need quick help on cost of pump for a research paper

Any MiniMed reps here or anyone who bought one know? My son is doing a paper on diabetes. He is on the spectrum and very attention to detail focused. He’s getting a bit frustrated as he’s finding a bunch of different answers online. Did anyone happen to buy theirs outright or happen to know how much one would cost outright? I got mine fully covered with insurance and I can’t find it anywhere showing the full price that they paid as it looks like my insurance had a greatly reduced deal with them. Bonus points if you can tell me how much an entire starter kit with supplies would cost if paid without insurance? I’m in the USA if that makes any difference.

Any have and try the MiniMed Flex yet?

I am told that select people have the MiniMed Flex already. Anyone here have it and can give a review? I found some influencers on YT but most hadn’t tried it but just got a sample product to show people in their hand. Just got MiniMed 780g and curious if I should upgrade in the summer? Just getting used to a pump.

Do I enter low carb protein shake into pump?

I googled this and asked AI, but I’m getting mixed answers and I would love to ask people that actually live it. Do y’all enter when you drink something like a low-carb Pure protein shake that only has five carbs? My new pump should hit smartguard mode at midnight. I read that I should enter any carb I eat even if it’s a snack but some say if it’s a lower carb like a protein shake, and my numbers aren’t too high not to enter. Thoughts?

I have been using the Abbott Libre 3+ for a few months and really loved the app and where I could note when I took basal, when I took mill time meal insulin and when I ate carbs, full meals, etc., in the notes. I also made notes of stress and sleep levels etc. This really helped me see what affected my numbers. I just recently got changed to an insulin pump for the first time which is the MiniMed 780G and it uses the Abbott Instinct sensor which I know is based on the Libre 3+ however I can no longer use that app. Is there a similar app that’s easy to use that I could use to keep up with my insulin and blood sugar and how it affects me and I can put in my food, etc., like I did with the Libre app? As far as I can tell, the MiniMed pump app does not have this unless I’m missing it? I really miss it.
