Elongated cushion stone check

Thoughts on this scissor-cut/modified crisscut? 2.83ct VVS1 F, 1.49 ratio.

I'm set on this stone shape and on having criss-crossing facets, but this one has slightly chunkier facets than the crisscuts/ashokas I've seen online before and can't decide if I prefer more or fewer facets.

Will add the IGI report in the comments.

Stone check - 2.83ct elongated cushion scissor-cut/modified crisscut

E-ring shopping and looking to go with a custom local jeweller for an elongated cushion scissor-cut/modified crisscut (honestly, idk what do call it but I just know I want criss-crossing facets and not a brilliant cut).

Based on the IGI report below, the back of the stone doesn't look like it has criss-cross facets to me, but the actual stone facing up looks like it does (see photos and videos). Am I reading this correctly?

The facets also look a bit chunkier than crisscuts/ashokas I've seen online, but it's not an OMC because the culet is long and pointed (not flat). What do you think? Please share your honest thoughts!

Video clips on finger and on temporary settings in both indoor and (cloudy) window lighting.

Are 6 prongs for elongated cushions safe?

I met with a custom design studio and shared my vision for an elongated cushion solitaire with a petal basket cathedral, specifically with 6 prongs that are arranged like these examples below which both feature petal baskets (high- and low-set, respectively):

Source: Bijou Lab

Source: Andria Barbone Jewelry

The jeweler said that it wouldn't be possible for the petal design to accommodate it, and that the rounded corners are more prone to chipping so they should be protected. This was really disheartening because I really don't want to cover up the rounded corners that are so defining of cushion cuts!

While I appreciate their insight and don't want to go with a designer who just says "yes" to everything, I want to get more opinions from this community (and meet with other design studios). I understand that 6-prong settings are very uncommon and want to better understand why cushions are limited in this way, because wouldn't 4-prong ovals and movals also have a higher risk of chipping at the narrow ends if there are no prongs there?

I'll add that I'm personally not into these other setting configurations I've seen, and why:

  • 4 corner prongs: cover up the rounded corners. Higher risk of stone falling out if one prong fails
  • 4 double corner prongs: safer for the stone but cover up even more of the rounded corners
  • 4 compass prongs: a common solution to showcase the rounded corners, but higher risk of losing the stone if one prong fails
  • 8 prongs: while the most secure for the stone, they still cover up the corners
  • Bezel: I tried them on in person with my partner and neither of us were into the look, sadly

Do you agree with the jeweler? Should I let this idea go? Are there any other setting configurations that you can think of that I've missed?

Are there any bag influencers/reviewers out there that you trust?

I get that brands will gift out bags to influencers as effective marketing, the latter make a living off of sponsored content, and when these people have ever-growing collections it can take longer to try bags out thoroughly. I just feel like it's getting harder to find trustworthy reviewers who've actually given a bag a thorough try and have valuable insights. Instead, it's like a dozen unboxing videos that immediately give a glowing recommendation when they haven't even taken the bag outside yet ... Maybe a follow-up video at some point.

The most refreshing take I've seen in a long time is from Sofia Sees Beauty's "unpopular opinions on overhyped bags", or something to that effect.

I love this sub for all the amazing insights and opinions that people share honestly about bags/brands they own, but I miss the good old days when YouTubers gave products an honest try and had useful things to say!

Please share if there is an influencer you think is more reliable for bag information! Especially for mid-range bags.
