A familiar warmth overtakes you, filling you up, and you hear your palico distantly urging you to your feet. You open your eyes to see your orange eyed companion still holding the depleted vigorwasp that just brought you back from the brink. Alarmed, you spring to your feet and instinctively draw your blades- memory flooding back. Your eyes level across from the foe that floored you. The mild disgust in his dark eyes betrays his surprise- he didn't believe your broken body had any fight left... With one of his massive horns already broken over his eye the giant wyvern takes a long breath and dives into the sand for an escape.
Nodding to your palico you make for camp. You know where the diablos is headed, and you vow not to be taken by surprise again. The worry on the face of your handler can't be hidden as she mops the still dripping blood from under your pauldron while you eat. You have nothing to say as you drop to a knee to give your blades one final sharpening before you chase down the fiend. With a nod, your loyal palico compadre leads the charge onward, racing to the battle ahead
You surprise the beast by dropping from the vines above, going into your blood drunk demon mode, hacking and slashing your way to the softened underbelly of the beast. Instinctually, you dodge his spinning tail and wall jump to a death dance down the length of his spine- stunned the beast falls. Staggering to its feet, the monster bellows a primal scream so loud you feel like your head may explode as it knocks you off your feet. It takes the chance to once again flee, this time with a noticeable limp.
"I'm not leaving without that horn" you declare to your loyal sidekick, who nods in agreement and pulls out her circular plunderblade, ready to render the beast at your command. You follow the tracks left by the wounded monster further into the cave. You enter a giant Room with 2 exits, With a bleeding and breathless diablos asleep in the middle. You set a trap and turn to signal your palico to commence the final attack, when the horrified look on your furred friend stops you short.
You follow her orange eyes to see an immense winged silhouette blocking the light from the entry way. Yellow eyes blink open as a ring of fiery orange lights light up one after another on the shadowy savage and you know- bezel has found you. You raise your slinger, take aim and the dreaded click of an empty pod exposes your lack of planning. Vulnerable and outmatched, you slowly back out the way you came, not taking your eyes off of the colossus before you.
Feeling with a free hand towards the exit you feel...a scale. A scale? Suddenly a hot drip of sticky saliva falls from above onto your helm. Trembling and terrified you slowly look up to see the twisted 100 toothed chasm that is the gaping maw of a devilijo. Afraid to move you become aware the only sounds in the room are the soft snoring of the diablos and the clanking of your shaking armor. Your trance is only broken by your companion "I'll hold them till the 5th fleet arrives". You reach for your flare gun as you dive forward at the trap you set earlier. The charging horrors both hit the trap at the same time as your flare screams off into the void, buying you precious seconds to right yourself and head towards the door. Just then a bright orange insect whizzes past your head towards the enraged duo. A familiar shape catapults himself through the air and onto the devilijo's back- it's Vesitrex!! You hear a guttural cry as your good friend Selinias comes through the other entrance, attaching his shield to the end of his sword as he rushes. You dig through your bag and pop a demon powder. Redrawing your blades with renewed vigor, you think to yourself- "damn, it's good to have friends"
Happy Hunting guys!!
But he's colorblind... and a dog. It's the thought that counts!
Made a flow chart for people to pick weapons when starting out.
None of the nearby rehabs will take mammals. Letting them sleep in a hoodie pocket with a warm rice sock and trying to feed them warm goats milk from a syringe. Anything else I can do to give them a chance at life?
