Review: Sweet Loren’s Chocolate Breakfast Biscuits

Would I really consider these junk food? No, not really. They’re pretty allergy friendly (gluten free, dairy free, and free of the top 9 allergens) and they have some protein and fiber.

The texture is great. They’re really crispy like a BelVita breakfast biscuit. The flavor kind of sucks, though. There’s something in them that has a bitter taste to it. IDK what it is. They’re good at first but there’s an aftertaste that’s like, too much baking soda or maybe too much unsweetened cocoa powder and not enough sweetener to balance it out. The reviews on the website made these sound so good. So I’m kind of disappointed.

I feel like they’re decent at best but the recipe needs a little tweaking. I appreciate that they’re gluten free AND dairy free without having a weird texture like some GF products do.

Sorry about the lighting in the pics. The sun is shining through the blinds.

Absolutely Not

Why are my cinnamon roll Pop Tarts so wet? The filling is leaking through the top and they feel sticky. These aren’t even the Super Stuffed ones either. 🤢

Why Can't I Get This Bubble?

I'm tagging this as a bug but it could very much just be user error on my part. I'm swimming up, down, and all around it and I can't pop it for some reason. Am I missing something? There's a whale nearby but I triple checked to make sure that I photographed it.

Hostess Strawberry Donettes

I would give these a 2/10 stars. I was excited to try them because I am a sucker for anything strawberry flavored. I imagined they would taste similar to a strawberry milkshake. Unfortunately, they tasted like a regular glazed donut except very, very dry. They have a thick, crunchy glaze that only makes it worse. The flavor isn’t bad on its own, though. That’s why I gave it two stars. They’re edible at least.

Hostess also doesn’t seal their bags very well. I don’t know if that is what’s contributing to the dryness but the package is just folded with no tabs to reseal or anything. It wasn’t even really glued shut. I feel like anyone could have put their hands in the bag at any point in the store. Ew. I’ve also tried the churro flavored Donettes and found that the bag was the same way.

I would pass on these and get the Mrs. Bairds powdered sugar mini donuts instead. What do you think?

Need Advice for Navigating a Job Situation

I recently started a new job as a dog bather. I was under the impression when I applied that my job would mainly be bathing dogs, and cleaning up. I made it clear during my interview that I have minimal reception experience and I don’t have an interest in answering phones, booking appointments, etc. The manager interviewing me assured me that it would only be a small part of the job and that the groomers handled their own clients. All I was really going to do was just call my own clients to tell them that their dog was finished or inform them of any issues during the service.

That’s not the case. All I do all day is sit at the desk and answer the phone. The job is 90% reception. When I do get a client to work on, I’m expected to drop what I’m working on to go answer the phone and deal with booking the groomers’ dogs or answer questions about services. I’m frustrated because I struggle with people skills so I wanted something more behind-the-scenes. The masking is burning me out really quickly and I’m only a few weeks in. On top of that, I feel like I can’t give my appointments 100% of my time and energy because I have to keep stopping the service to get the phone. Ugh.

This is also a franchise/corporate type of place so I can’t really do much to make things easier for myself. Any advice is welcome! I’m looking for something else but I hate being a job hopper.

What device/computer do you play on?

I’m playing on my laptop right now and it runs fine with the graphics on low quality. I remember a time when Zoo Tycoon 2 was top tier so I can deal with poor graphics if the game is fun enough.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of switching to medium quality just to see what my house looks like and it’s so much better. I can actually see what my house is supposed to look like with the lights working and everything. Now, I’m all sad because it lags and it heats my laptop up so badly that it’s not sustainable long term.

How are you guys playing? Do you have a gaming desktop? tablet? What do you recommend?

Super Stuffed Lava Cake Vs Cinnamon Caramel

I finally got around to trying both. Here are my thoughts on them:

Molten Lava Cake: Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of the regular fudge Pop Tarts because they're so dry but these were actually really good. The crust was soft and comparable to the Dollar Store brand Toast 'Ems. Flavor wise, I would compare them to any cheap brownie you make from a box mix. They're very rich and chocolatey. They are smaller than regular Pop Tarts and there is only one in each pack but I feel like it's enough.

I'd rate these a 10/10.

Cinnamon Caramel: I just grabbed these at WalMart today so I've only tried one pack so far. The crust is good. Like the Lava Cake flavor, it's very soft. They pack that I opened wasn't very well frosted, though. I would compare the flavor to the current Cinnamon Roll Pop Tarts. The filling on the inside didn't appeal to me personally. I normally never complain about things being "too sweet" (especially a Pop Tart LOL) but it had this very strong artificial caramel flavor that reminded me of something that I can't put my finger on. It tastes almost medicinal like honey flavored cough syrup or something. I'll probably finish the pack but I wouldn't get them again.

I'd rate these a 3/10.

How do you all feel about them?

I’m keeping this vague in case by some crazy coincidence someone from my job finds this post and puts two and two together. I doubt that will ever happen but you never know.

I have person on my team who has trouble with memory. They are good at most of their job, always on time, pleasant to be around, etc. However, it feels like they have zero short term memory.

Other coworkers are constantly having to remind them of who clients are because they seem to have trouble putting names to faces.

Coworkers complain to me about them not remembering whether or not a task they were asked to do was completed. The answer to everything is “I can’t remember.”

This person struggles with time management and remembering when tasks are supposed to be done which frustrates the rest of the team because they have to go back and check to see if the task was ever actually done because this person doesn’t remember.

They have also admitted being afraid to ask coworkers for help.

From what this person has told me, they have been prescribed medication for ADHD but they choose not to take it. That’s not my business but it does give me some insight on to why these things are happening.

Their coworkers keep telling me that they are frustrated by the memory problems but I don’t know how to make someone remember better. Obviously I can’t tell an employee to take their meds and I can’t explain the medical things to their coworkers to justify the forgetting so I’m stuck here.

I apologize for the formatting of this post. I was just trying to make sure I don’t leave anything out. Please be gentle. I’m new at this and I want to handle things the right way. I’ve already tried to encourage the employee to not be afraid to ask for help from their coworkers.
