Looking for a writer friend/buddy to gush and build a friendship beyond that

Hey you out there! :)

After reading so many book as a kid and seeing someone in my school class doing written RP, I wanted to try it myself and over the last 18+ years, I did just that — write. I wrote many different things, like Screenplays in uni, short stories, poems (kind of), RP and a few attempts at writing my own book, but in the end, I never finished a story. I could name so many reasons why and I think for a long time I held myself back with them. But does it really matter? Today is just as good a day to start and try again as yesterday was.

I'm by no means a ray of sunshine all the time, but lately there's this odd, euphoric feeling, like a want to create something, to actually do it, even if it turns out rather bad in the beginning. Right now I'm working on something of my own and I've started planning a story and even have a prologue. It's a beginning and that already feels like something!

As much as I adore my friends, I'm looking for a real friendship built around writing (also outside of it). Not a writing partner in the collaborative sense (I'm not a good fit then but I'm always happy to exchange thoughts or give feedback if that's ever useful), but someone I can share ideas with. Someone who gets genuinely excited when I talk about a scene or a character, and about whose ideas I can get just as excited about. Someone to send a song to at 2am because it perfectly captures a mood, or a picture that reminds me of something from their story or mine. Someone to do the occasional writing sprint with, to have those conversations about what moves us, what we're creating, why we keep coming back to it even when it's hard. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me whether someone finally wants to write a longterm fanfic or their own (debut) book, in whatever genre, as long as you have the desire to write and to build a friendship along the way. I also know myself well enough to say that staying motivated isn't always easy and I think assuming someone will always be equally fired up just doesn't work. But that's exactly what a writer friend is for, to remind you why you're doing it and be there on the quiet days too.

So yeah after a lot of rambling, I'm (30F, CET) looking for a person (not a group) who is close to my age (25+) and wants the same thing. Oh, and obviously it doesn't matter if you're queer or bipoc. Safe space, everyone welcome!! (Would love to find other mixed/black writers tho).

If this resonates with you, please reach out and tell me a little about yourself — who you are, what you're working on, what you're looking for. I'd love to hear all about it!! Also, this should be a low-pressure kind of friendship, so if you're struggling with mental health in any form, don't be afraid to reach out too! :)

Edit: Sorry if you tried DM me, reddit seems to hate me at the moment. If you can't reach out via DM pls let me know in the comments! :)

[F4A] looking for a long-term rp partner | Regency & more

Hey there! I'm looking for a long-term rp partner to dive into something that keeps us both up way too late, because we just can't leave the last reply unanswered.

Right now I have a serious craving for Regency era stories. Think of the seasons, the weight of a look that lasts a second too long, secret correspondence, forbidden love, friendships that slowly bloom into something more, society scandals, the struggles of the middle class, political intrigue. The quiet desperation of navigating society as a woman with limited options, a Duke who isn't what he seems, a Baroness carrying someone else's scandal, two spinsters who slowly realize they've found home in each other. There are so many directions we could take this, and I'm genuinely excited to explore them. I'm also open to bringing in light fantasy elements if the story calls for it. Romance is very much on the table, but I need it to mean something. I want a world that feels real and a plot we both care about. It would be great to have someone who likes to plot a lot, throwing ideas at each other.

I'm 30F, based in CET (timezone is flexible), and I'd prefer someone to be at least 25+. Writing-wise, I do advanced lit and tend toward novella length. I love inner monologue and knowing what your character is actually feeling, as long as it isn't the only thing carrying the scene. That said, quality over quantity ofc. I write in third person and am comfortable with any gender and only looking for someone wo can play female, male or non-binary characters in return. When it comes to face claims, I prefer irl ones as drawn ones are often hard for me to connect with. I'm open to any kind of pairing and tend to go with whatever vibe draws me in most (same for gender btw). All characters will be 21+, that's a firm line for me. I'm LGBTQIA+ friendly, BIPOC friendly, and neurodivergent friendly!! :)

OOC connection really matters to me. Sharing pins, building Pinterest boards together, chatting about ideas, just enjoying the whole process. I'm looking for someone to yap with, a friendship alongside the story. BUT I absolutely respect space (and expect the same), it should feel natural. No stress about reply times either. Life happens and I completely understand that, I have busy stretches too. A simple heads up goes a long way and I'll always do the same. Communication sorts out most things. That being said, I'll take my time chatting with you on reddit first to see if we vibe.

other things/genres/fandoms I enjoy:
Bridgerton, Jane Austen books and films, Harry Potter (TERFs out!), Twilight, Cyberpunk, pirates/mermaids, mystery with a gothic or eerie atmosphere, academia settings, fantasy (tho I'm a little picky at the moment), medieval/fantasy-esque settings.

If this sounds like something you resonate with, reach out via DM and introduce yourself! Tell me about you, what you're looking for and any ideas you're already excited about. I'm also open to swap writing examples to see if our styles click. The password is your favorite song. Blank intros, just "Hi, wanna rp" or messages without the password will be skipped. Looking forward to hearing from you!

[F4A] looking for a long-term rp partner [hp or regency fandoms]

hello, whenever you're reading this! you can call me gia (if i'm comfortable, i will share my real name), i'm 30f writing in cet time zone. i've mostly been a "lurker" here on reddit so far, but i finally gathered the courage to look for someone myself for a long term rp. i've been writing for over a decade now and i'm looking for someone who's also down to write. i'm looking for someone who's down to yap with me, create characters, build pinterest boards and everything in between.

i'm a literate writer who also loves writing novella-length stuff, 3rd person only. i don't expect every single reply to hit that length, but i do struggle when things are consistently short or lacking detail. i wanna know how your character feels, what they think, why they act the way they act. that being said, quality obviously comes before quantity. my response times vary depending on how life's treating me, my motivation (or if a heatwave is sucking the life out of me lol). i don't like being asked constantly and want a chill person – i'll be the same in return. even if i don't write every day (or rapid fire) i'm always open to ooc talk. that's an important point for me, because how much fun the rp is also depends on how well i get along with my rp partner. that said, i absolutely respect space (and expect the same), so you don't have to write to me every day. it should feel natural.

primarily i'm looking for more or less fandom rps that i'm currently craving. that doesn't mean we can't expand on things over time though.

i'm specifically looking for a harry potter/hogwarts legacy roleplay, though i have to admit i'm not really into marauders or the tom riddle era, sorry to disappoint there. i'm fine with either canon-aligned or au, i just don't like having zero creative freedom at all (don't worry, not a big fan of stuff that makes absolutely no sense either). if you have plot ideas or a character you're really dying to write, i'm your gal (hopefully). but i do also have a few rough ideas of my own, we can easily discuss those via dm! (just don't wanna make this post too long)

in addition, since i saw the new sense & sensibility trailer, i'm also in the mood for something time period/regency related. give me the pining and yearning, let me be your snobby duke for your oc, give me a mr. darcy-esque character. i'm completely open to ideas here. i'd also love to play in the bridgerton universe or something like the other bennet sister. heck, i'm quite open to many fandoms in that regency-esque genre, but as i said, we can also build our own story and world. i just wanna dip back into that world! :)

quick infos to clarify some things:

× 25+ only! sorry, feel rather uncomfortable with much younger ones
× ocxoc and/or ocxcc
× all characters will be aged up, non-negotiable!
× i only double
(but i need equal investment, it's very important to me)
× searching for someone who can play any gender not just one
× ships & genders are vibe-based and will be discussed, so i'm open to any ship
× much into romance, angst, drama, yearning
× i'll take my time chatting with you on reddit first to see if we vibe
× only irl faceclaims
× just to clarify – strongly anti jkr. if i find out you support her, i'm out

i just want to write with somebody and have a great time. please try to be engaging, if it starts feeling like a one-time conversation, i'll eventually let it fade out. you don't need twenty books full of ideas but enough excitement and the will to try plotting with me and i'll give you the same in return. password: favorite tv show or movie. most of the time i'm pretty understanding and chill, communication is key. :)

that's it for now, i've probably forgotten something, but if you think we could match, reach out. but please tell me something about yourself, also about your ideas/visions. just "hi" or "wanna rp" will be ignored, same goes for messages that clearly haven't read everything and forgot the password.

× much into romance, angst, drama, yearning
× i'll take my time chatting with you on reddit first to see if we vibe before we move to discord
× tupper friendly
× only irl faceclaims
× only fade to black, don't even ask
× just to clarify – strongly anti jkr. if i find out you support her, i'm out
× triggers as discussed

i just want to write with somebody and have a great time. please try to be engaging, if it starts feeling like a one-time conversation, i'll eventually let it fade out. you don't need twenty books full of ideas but enough excitement and the will to try plotting with me and i'll give you the same in return. password: favorite tv show or movie. most of the time i'm pretty understanding and chill, communication is key. :)

that's it for now, i've probably forgotten something, but if you think we could match, reach out. but please tell me something about yourself, also about your idea/vision. just "hi" or "wanna rp" will be ignored, same goes for messages that clearly haven't read everything and forgot the password.

[F4A] looking for a long-term literate rp partner (hp and/or bridgerton/regency) [1x1][Discord]

hello, whenever you're reading this! you can call me gia (if i'm comfortable, i will share my real name), i'm 30f writing in cet time zone. i've mostly been a "lurker" here on reddit so far, but i finally gathered the courage to look for someone myself for a long term rp. i've been writing for over a decade now and i'm looking for someone who's also down to write. i'm looking for someone who's down to yap with me, create characters, build pinterest boards and everything in between.

i'm a literate writer who also loves writing novella-length stuff, 3rd person only. i don't expect every single reply to hit that length, but i do struggle when things are consistently short or lacking detail. i wanna know how your character feels, what they think, why they act the way they act. that being said, quality obviously comes before quantity. my response times vary depending on how life's treating me, my motivation (or if a heatwave is sucking the life out of me lol). i don't like being asked constantly and want a chill person – i'll be the same in return. even if i don't write every day (or rapid fire) i'm always open to ooc talk. that's an important point for me, because how much fun the rp is also depends on how well i get along with my rp partner. that said, i absolutely respect space (and expect the same), so you don't have to write to me every day. it should feel natural.

primarily i'm looking for more or less fandom rps that i'm currently craving. that doesn't mean we can't expand on things over time though.

i'm specifically looking for a harry potter/hogwarts legacy roleplay, though i have to admit i'm not really into marauders or the tom riddle era, sorry to disappoint there. i'm fine with either canon-aligned or au, i just don't like having zero creative freedom at all (don't worry, not a big fan of stuff that makes absolutely no sense either). if you have plot ideas or a character you're really dying to write, i'm your gal (hopefully). but i do also have a few rough ideas of my own, we can easily discuss those via dm! (just don't wanna make this post too long)

on top of that, since i saw the new sense & sensibility trailer, i'm also in the mood for something time period/regency related. give me the pining and yearning, let me be your snobby duke for your oc, give me a mr. darcy-esque character. i'm completely open to ideas here. i'd also love to play in the bridgerton universe, but as i said, we can also build our own story and world. i just wanna dip back into that world! :)

quick infos to clarify some things:

× 25+ only! sorry, feel rather uncomfortable with much younger ones
× ocxoc and/or ocxcc
× all characters will be aged up, non-negotiable!
× i only double
(but i need equal investment, or I'm out)
× i'm not here to only play male roles and i'm not into it when someone only plays female, sorry. i'm big into diversity
(but it's totally fine if that's what you wanna play, just saying. but i'm not here for just one purpose ofc)
