A little calathea haul

A little calathea haul

Location: Patiala

Bought these from Chandigarh!

I love calatheas but these are so fussy. I’ve kept them in the cocopeat they came in and won’t change the soil till they acclimatise. They’re kept in darker corners as the tiniest bit of sun rayscan be damaging for them. Thanks to the rainy weather, they’re getting the humidity and rainwater they need.

Left : Calathea pinstripe
Right : Prayer plant

Ghonchu monchu planters were bought separately from the same nursery.

My peace lily finished its blooming cycle, so I got her a big sister

Location : Patiala

Now that it has started raining, local nurseries are keen to get rid of peace lily stock.

I bought the one on the left for 120 a while ago. I bought the one on the right for 100 🫠.

Had to control myself from not buying up the whole lot and turning it into one giant plant.

Offering: English | Seeking: Punjabi

I am learning my own mother tongue (Punjabi in Gurmukhi script). I want to spend 20-30 minutes a day practising reading and writing it. I would love a language exchange partner to check in daily (I will send pictures of my daily writing practice). I am in the IST time zone, but I am open to other zones. We can spend time on calls helping each other. I can help with English (I scored well in IELTS -8.5)

Books that feel like the kdrama My Royal Nemesis

I just watched this show and it was a comfort during some rough times. I’m looking for similar themes , especially two hard headed characters falling in love. Enemies to lovers that isn’t too long winded and they fall in love soon. Would appreciate any recs by people who’ve seen the show.

Thank you

Meet Babita, Kavita, Papeeta and Sadhna

My mom named the last one. Got some nerve plant seedlings and I’m unsure what the one with the white pattern is.

I have planted them in a healthy soil and orchid bark mix and they are currently getting acclimatised in a makeshift humidity dome.

Am I being gaslit? Bought an orchid and I think they sent me the wrong one.

Hello plant community,

I am a huge orchid lover and have owned many, in another country where I would usually get them at supermarkets or gardening sections of big warehouse marts. I decided to buy some here, and after some research, went with a particular seller. The orchid was advertised as already in full bloom, which I did not mind.

It took six days to arrive (along with a hoya I had ordered), and I was surprised that it survived the heat and came in great condition. The roots are super healthy, so are the leaves. But, one look at the flowers and my first thought was 'this is the wrong orchid'. I reached out to the seller and explained my situation, to which they responded that the heat must have made the orchid flowers lose their pigment. Now I get that happens, but the difference is too stark for me to believe this is the same orchid I wanted.

The seller has offered a full refund if the new blooms are not the right colour. However, new blooms might take months to come in because the orchid has just finished its blooming cycle.

Location: Punjab

Seller location: Kerala

My teeny tiny collection

I love my teeny tiny collection . Also bless the janpath attar shops , some of the best scents I’ve smelled.

Not pictured here is my og : ysl libre intense.

My reviews:

Orpheon: I gifted a bottle of this to a male friend for Christmas. A few months later he told he got many compliments on it. He ended up getting a girlfriend who loved the smell on him. That was enough for me to buy myself one too. Scent is unique, fresh (not soapy) but it doesn’t last long unfortunately ( compared to other cheaper perfumes)

Issey miyake drop : The best scent to smell cool and refreshing. Like a clean shower. Highly recommend this to everyone.

Cashmere kumquat: I bought it when it was still 50 something dollars, but returned it. Then a few months later decided to get myself the perfume anyway and the price had shot up. Huge regret there. The smell reminded me of my favourite loccitane almond lotion and oil. After wearing it for a while it also smells slightly similar to libre. But I reach out for it quite often and don’t regret spending the money. It’s sweet but not overly musky , powdery or honey like.

28F - Looking for accountability partner as I learn my mother tongue

My goal is simple. I am learning my own mother tongue (Punjabi). I want to spend 20-30 minutes a day practicing reading and writing it. I would love an accountability buddy who can check in daily (I will send pictures of my daily writing practice). I am in the IST time zone but open to other zones. One strong boundary is I do not want anyone who will criticise or shame me for missing practice. Definitely looking for a bit of an easygoing arrangement.

Any recommendations for simple, children's books in Punjabi

I have recently started learning Punjabi (mother tongue), and I want to practice reading more words and sentences. I currently read Ajit newspaper to practice, but I am also unfortunately recovering from a terrible mental health episode and need some lighter, non-triggering reads. One idea was to buy school books to learn Punjabi, but I am open to any fun, light, beginner level books or stories I could read to practice my Punjabi.

Thank you.

Edit: Found one, thank you!
