Are all sea fishing floats massive?

I'm still a bit of beginner so sorry if this is a stupid question, but I like to do a bit of float fishing off the local pier with small hooks, but all the sea fishing floats I see are the big polystyrene cigar shaped things and sometimes it's hard to tell if you have hooked something, what should I be looking for in a float that will work in the sea? When I was younger I used to river fish with pencil floats, but I imagine they wouldn't work very well.

It's the 22nd August, the end of our 5th heatwave, and Christmas has already started appearing.

I'm a 42 year old male, and I look forward to the festive period, we don't have kids, but my wife and I use it to see friends, spend time with each other and really make the most of it. Of course it has always had the commercial element to it, which honestly I don't mind because of the different food and drink, but it is coming earlier and earlier every year and it's starting to wear.

Last week Morrisons started to put out chocolate Cadbury Santa chocolates, Tesco has also started with the Christmas chocolates, one local garden centre has started assembling their annual Christmas displays with the festive train and singing reindeer, the other is advertising decorations.

And to top that off I am also seeing American style 'fall' tat being sold like pumpkins and turkeys.

All before Halloween.

Do my eardrums look normal?

Male, 43, 6ft 17stone(238 lbs) non smoker, UK.

Recently my wife has been mentioning that I like the TV louder than normal, I am trying to get a hearing test booked but I was thinking they may be blocked due to always sticking cotton buds in them, they don't look blocked to me, but they do look very dark compared to images on Google. Could I get an opinion please?

Does anyone know what this domain is?

I have a domain using the afraid nameservers to point to some stuff on my home network, and I keep getting requests to add subdomains pointing to itcoms dot org.

I will be paying to hide my domain to stop these requests asap, but does anyone actually know what itcoms is? I am guessing it will be used by scammers for some reason.

UK, growing in my garden

I have found this in my garden in one or two places, if I rub it between my fingers it smells like aniseed.

Is it a weed or something that should be cultivated?

Edit:

Thanks all, looks like it is Fennel. Before I mow the lawn next I'll try to carefully dig it up to try and save it.
