My bf, who lost a cat suddently to FeLV, is mad I took home 2 FIV+ fosters. How do I ease his mind?

Context: in 2024 my bf's sweet cat (wasn't even 2) declined quickly and had to be euthanized due to finding out he had FeLV. Understandably, it was very traumatizing (for both of us) and heartbreaking.

He got another cat a few months after, so his other cat (who never ended up catching the FeLV thank goodness) would have a pal again. So now he has 2 cats and understandably, is worried whenever they get sick with anything.

Today I picked up 2 new foster cats who are FIV + and I told him and he freaked out. He said "you're kidding me. you gotta be kidding me. why would you take them? now you have to shower and change clothes before ever coming to my apartment. im not kidding."

It was a harsh reaction tbh but he is probably associating FIV with FeLV.

How do I ease his mind? I am not 100% educated on this and this is the first time I have fostered cats with FIV.

Thanks in advance to whoever can help me learn a bit more and hopefully calm my boyfriend down bc so far, I feel like he is going to treat me as a biohazard.

Best book for learning about Beatles recording sessions and who played what?

I'm not a new Beatles fan, but I'd like to become a more "educated" one. Ever since I watched Get Back last year I just want to know more about the songs and of course beyond the more "mainstream" songs, for lack of a better word.

Is there a book that goes into the recording process and the individual songs? I'm not really looking for interpretations or deep dives into lyrics (but if that's included somewhere that's fine too).

I'm more interested in things like who played which instrument on each track, how the songs evolved in the studio, interesting recording details, and instances where they switched instruments (like Paul playing the guitar solo on Taxman or George playing bass on Golden Slumbers, if I have that right). Any recommendations? (I don't like audiobooks)

Started dog walking all day for a month so far and legs, knees, feet are so stiff when I wake up.

I worked in an office for 3 years and I barely made over 10K steps a day. I was pretty sedentary. Then I quit in May and started started dog walking full time, I basically went from 2K steps/day to anywhere between 12 and 16K steps/day.

As a result, I wake up every morning and my knees, shins and feet are so stiff. I hobble around for the first 20 min of the day like an elderly woman. It gets better as the day goes on, but even if I’m sitting on the couch and I get up to walk around, I’ll feel stiff again.

What are some stretches I can do to prevent being so stiff every morning? I’m 36/F and 180lbs if that matters.

6 postcards up for grabs. Here’s the photo but I will be sending the postcards at random (meaning you don’t pick which one, you’ll get whatever’s next in the pile). I don’t do this to be stingy, it’s just easier for me.

Must be flaired and in the US.

Leave a comment about what Summerween means to you. I’ll message you for your info once I close the offer. If more than 6 people comment I’ll select at random.

Women - it is so frustrating to be unable to differentiate IBS related cramps or PMS cramps!

Its like, I just wanna know which ailment is causing me this pain!

I hate not knowing!

Yes, there are some ways to tell (like if a bowel movement or gas relieves the pain) but it doesn’t always)!

Instead I’m always left wondering, is it IBS, something more sinister, or a certain part of my cycle?!

I have had the Cara app since 2019 and literally log BMs daily along with other symptoms, and you would think that would make it easier to see a pattern but no.

I do see a GI. In fact, I have an appt in Aug because I have hemmroids now.

I also have health anxiety so that doesn’t make any of this any easier.

Just venting. Need to commiserate somewhere.

Found a cutaneous horn worried it could be related to FeLV

Asking for my boyfriend. In Nov 2024 he had to put down his cat (just under 2yo) because he was showing signs of an illness and a day to the vet turned into hell (blood tests showing anemia, more tests showing FeLV). He had to be put asleep. His other cat (now 3yo) was tested for it as well because they shared water, food, groomed each other — all that stuff bonded cats do. He miraculously tested negative for FeLV.

Today my boyfriend discovered this cutaneous horn and is worried that it could be FeLV since sometimes they can be related. He has a vet appointment tomorrow but for now, we just want to hear of other peoples experiences and input for a peace of mind.

Is there a bigger chance of it being felv given the fact that he was exposed at one point (but tested negative and isnt showing any other signs of illness)?

Manri Sockhausen links “laundry beards” to her LTKI and claims people everywhere ask what they are wearing. 👌🏻

The lies these ~influencers~ grifters tell are getting more and more pathetic.

How do you deal with the anxiety/awkwardness of giving 2 weeks notice?

Finally leaving the job that's caused me so much anxiety and mental "strife" after being there for 3 years!

I work at a country club, but in a small office and sit very close to my supervisor all day, so there’s really no escaping the awkwardness once I tell them. My boss is also very loud, outspoken, and not quite tactful, so I’m nervous about comments like “now we have to replace/train someone” or making me feel guilty for leaving.

I KNOW logically that people leave jobs all the time and companies move on. But I have anxiety, so I keep obsessing over the “chain reaction” of events after I resign and imagining the tension/awkwardness for the next 2 weeks.

I also feel weird because I do a lot there: social media, web/app updates, member communications, invoices, etc., so I know my leaving will create more work temporarily.

Another thing I feel guilty about: I used the last of my accrued sick time Wed and Thurs of last week (was out for 2 days but I only had 13.5 hours accrued so the remaining time I don't get paid for) because I was mentally exhausted, also depressed and arguing with my boyfriend a lot, and just trying to figure out major life decisions. Now I’m paranoid they’ll connect the dots after I resign.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of anticipatory anxiety before quitting? How did the actual experience compare to what you imagined in your head? Any tips for surviving the awkward 2-week period? I have anxiety so I may be making this out to be way worse in my head. But you guys don't know my boss. He creates such a toxic and uncomfortable work environment!

I have six more US postcard stamps left, and I would like to send out more bird postcards.

* 6 flaired users

* if you already received from my other two bird offers, thats fine, you can still claim, as this will be a random pull (just have to be OK with the possibility of receiving the same card as I wont remember what I sent you)

* leave a comment of your favorite bird (appearance wise) or your favorite bird (personality or cool fact) and why

Is switching from a salaried job to dog walking + freelance writing a smart move or risky? I’m trying to make a decision and would appreciate realistic input.

I work full-time and take home about $730–750 per week after taxes. The job is stable, but I’ve been extremely unhappy for over 1 year.

I’ve been building up two other income streams:

  • Freelance writing (just got confirmation I can take on ~10–14 assignments/week starting today, I paid hourly at $35/hr)
  • Dog walking service (met with the owner who mapped out a sample weekly schedule showing about $600–640 per week once clients are established; the first 1–2 weeks would focus on meet-and-greets and then increase).

I’ve mapped out my monthly expenses, including things I’d lose from my job like health insurance and fully covered therapy and meds. My total monthly expenses would be around $2800–2900.

Based on rough estimates, I’d be tight at first (maybe breaking even or slightly under for the first few weeks), but close to stable once things ramp up a little.

My main concerns are:

  • The variability of freelance income since it’s hourly
  • What if I regret it and am unhappy/dont make enough?
  • I get overwhelmed too quick and regret my life choices

I’m not trying to quit impulsively so I’m planning to track my income over the next couple of weeks and make a decision. I’d appreciate any kind of input. I’m struggling majorly.
