Does crunch produce movies?

Wondering why three TVs are showing ads for the new mortal combat movie nonstop.

Also there used to be a tv dedicated soley to Scientology.

The Joys of Unemployment

Hello All,

Hope you are well. I am looking for some direction.

Background is 10+ years in financial services including commercial/corporate banking at BMO and most recently corporate banking at a major bank in London. I also have an MBA from City University of London and completed the CFA in 2018.

I (maybe foolishly) left a major British bank in January of this year after doing a lot of pre networking for jobs in Brazil. Unfortunately the job market wasn't as good as promised and the help that was promised never materialized. I had to move back to the US in July as my tourist visa expired before I could find a job.

I am now back in the US, about 45 minutes from Chicago and have gotten zero traction in the job hunt. I have talked to recruiters who all have said that I would have a job by now (HA) and seem to only have openings in accounting and FP&A.

I have even had my former boss from BMO send my resume to the hiring manager for a role in corporate banking at BMO with no response.

I feel I have done everything that I have been told to do to have success in the application process - apply to similar roles or ones where I can use my skills (underwriting, FP&A, Treasury, Customer Success Manager, etc), reach out to my network, former employers, people on LinkedIn from the places I am applying to; set up AI to look for roles for me on a daily basis; and tailor my CV with key words with no success.

I have recently started to look for roles back in London, which will be difficult with the sponsorship, in other cities, and remote roles.

What else should I possibly be doing?

Recruiters that are actually helping people?

Hello all,

I recently moved back to Chicago after working abroad and looking for a finance role - Corporate Banking, FP&A, or Treasury.

I have called so many recruiting firms here and have even dropped recruiters messages on LinkedIn or called them if they posted their work number on their LinkedIn profile.

Yet either the admin says they will pass my info to someone at the firm and don't or I am left leaving yet another voicemail.

Are there any recruiting firms that will actually speak to you and discuss the job search with you?

So far I have called Madison Street Search, Shelby Jennings, RobertHalf, Executive Pro Search, Kforce, The LaSalle Network, Buckingham Search, and Connect Search.

[11 YoE, Unemployed, Corporate Banking/FP&A/Corporate Finance, Brazil]

Hello All,

Hope you are keeping well and thank you in advance!

I have spent the last four months in Brazil looking for roles to stay in Corporate Banking/Capital Markets, but open to other financial roles such as M&A, FP&A, Corporate Finance, Strategic Finance, etc. Most of the latter opportunities seem to be at start ups.

I have been struggling to get interviews and looks like I will be heading back to the US in about a month and will have to continue my job search there, so feedback from a Brasil and/or US lens is appreciated.

I am looking for help on how my CV comes across and if the bullets land well. Should all of my first CV be condensed to one page even though I have 10+ years of experience? The first CV is for a role in banking while the second is for a FP&A/Strategic Finance role.

I have been applying to roles in Brazil - Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, and Rio de Janeiro; supplemented with a lot of networking primarily through the CFA society here - and remote roles.

My issue with the job search is of course feedback and networking.

Feedback: If I do get feedback during interviews they say they value the international experience and that I am American as the respective companies are looking to enter the US market. They say their other candidates don't have this experience. However, two weeks later I get told that they have gone with another candidate.

Networking: I meet with people and they promise to provide contacts, information, and/or referral if I find a job at the company they work at. Once I follow up, sometimes multiple times, I don't hear back. Brazilians have told me that is just how networking goes here.

I have asked if a visa is an issue in the first round of interviews and they say it's not an issue.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Many thanks again for your time!

(Tomara que não) Ultimo mês no Brasil

Oi Galera,

Tudo bem?

Sou do EUA. Por favor, me avise se precisar de mais alguma informação.

Brigado!

Profile Review

Hello All,

Hope you are keeping well.

I started on Preply in April and have since only made under $400 total. During that time I have ranged from 10 - 14 students and about 15 classes a week. Every time I try to change my price even incrementally for new students (like $8) I drop to near the 1000s in position and if I do $25 which I think my classes are worth then I drop to nearly 3000s. With my classes at $5 I would get plenty of trials and people favoriting my class, but if I increase my price I may get five people who land on my page and no one has favorited much less signed up for a trial.

For background I have been in finance for 10+ and market that I can teach business English. I also have done the 150 HR TEFL/TESOL certificate. I currently have many students in S. America and some in the US, Europe, and Asia.

I am wondering if my profile might not be putting that across and may be why I am not getting people to book trials.

https://preply.in/PELUMI6EN3247582110?ts=17816530

A side question, for the trials are students paying your full offered amount to Preply or are all trials $5?

Many thanks in advance.

Accenture Application - not about the hiring process but I think a technical issue

Hello All,

I applied for a role here in Brazil. I since have received an email stating that they enjoyed the conversation with me and as discussed the recruiting team will be submitting my CV on my behalf. The previous application I sent in is showing as "not being considered" .

The issue is that I have never talked to anyone at Accenture, so not sure if they have me and someone else mixed up. They even said to reach out to the recruiter I am in contact with if I have any questions, but it is from a No Reply email.

Has anyone had this happen to them?
