Warning: speeding and bus lane cameras are catching tucked plates

I have a tucked plate and have been riding in manhattan for about 10 months now.

I never got any tickets in the mail for speeding or riding in the bus lane up until two months ago.

It seems they’ve either repositioned them or added new ones because the routes I’ve been taking forever are now catching my plate.

Battery percentage inaccuracy

I find that the battery percentage reading for my Go Stellar is very unreliable when it’s being partially topped up.

Example: battery is at 50% and you charge for an hour or so and it reads at 75%. Ride it normally for 2 miles and it drops to 50%, or around 12.5% per mile.

But if you ride it the same 2 miles from 100%, it only drops around 10%, or around 5% per mile.

Anyone else deal with this? I no longer trust it to be actually at 75% anymore when it says so.

Regen braking needs to be much stronger

I have the Go Stellar and also had the original Go. Both have smooth regen braking that’s fine for normal day to day riding, but for more abrupt, borderline “emergency” braking, the regen brakes are piss poor.

What bothers me is I’m fairly certain the braking aggressiveness can be much stronger (and yes I have it maxed out in the settings) based on other scooters I have and ridden.

My hunch is that Apollo is intentionally keeping it not as aggressive to prevent fish tailing because scooters are definitely prone to fishtailing when you abruptly brake.

If the Go has a theoretical max braking factor of 100/100 that would cause fish tailing, I think Apollo sets the current max braking to be a 50/100 (which in the app will show up as 10/10 aggressiveness). And I think the 10/10 braking setting in the app should be a 75/100 of the max braking factor, so 50% stronger than the current max setting.

I ride in nyc and have had a couple close encounters where a car abruptly pulling out requires evasive maneuvers (where I have to swerve into another lane and hope no one is nearby) instead of me being able to rely on braking alone. It’s really dangerous IMO.

Anyone getting Apollo Secure insurance?

Apollo seems to have a new insurance program for stolen scooter coverage.

It’s around $60 usd for the year which seems like decent value for peace of mind.

I’ve had my original Go stolen so I know the pain of theft.

[Sun Care] [Product Request] Korean sunscreen that’s not too shiny or matte

Looking for Korean sunscreen that’s not too matte or greasy

I’ve tried the roundlab birch sunscreen and don’t like the greasy shine it gives my skin.

I’ve also tried the house of Hur weightless sun fluid and find this to make my skin feel dry and tight unless it’s super hot and humid outside.

My skin type is normal. What recs do you have that would be in between the roundlab and house of Hur?

I want something that’s moisturizing without making my face shiny.

Apollo Go Stellar is unstable vs Original Go

I had the original go and now have the Go Stellar.

Just went on my first ride on the stellar and holy shit it’s so much less stable compared to the original Go because the handlebar / stem doesn’t lock into center as solidly.

With the original go, when you center the steering, there is some divot that keeps it centered. This keeps the scooter straight at speed and stable.

I don’t know if my Stellar has a defect but the holding force when centered is so weak and might as well not be there. It makes the ride feel very unstable.

Track boots - lack of mobility and feel kills me

I have a pair of Sidi track boots and have tried on the various alpine stars models: supertech, smx, etc.

I’ve ridden on my bike two times with the Sidis around the street and it ironically feels less safe for me because I can’t feel the shifter as well since the boots are so hard and bulky (pause) and there’s limited ankle mobility (obviously as intended).

I find that I get distracted thinking about shifting and whether I can feel the rear brakes, shifter, etc. My shifts feel sloppier. I feel like I have less control and confidence over my bike.

How do yall do it? Do you just get used to it? It’s hard for me to ever want to wear anything other than my motorcycle sneakers.
