Illegal encroachments have completely blocked off the entrance to Sri Swami Aiyappa Temple

Namaskara everyone,

I'm posting this because I'm honestly just fed up with how blatantly people can grab land in this city while the authorities conveniently look the other way. There's a beautiful, peaceful temple in our area - the Sri Swami Aiyappa Temple - and it is currently being suffocated by illegal structures.

I took a screenshot from Google Maps and marked it up to show you guys exactly what's happening on the ground (see the attached images)

To make sense of my scribbles:

  • The blue lines are the public roads (Lal Bahadur Shastry Nagar Main Rd).
  • The yellow outline is the actual, legal boundary of the temple complex.
  • That massive red area? Completely illegal encroachment. It's a mix of temporary sheds, shanties, and random structures that have just eaten up the land.

But here is the most infuriating part: look at the magenta lines. That is supposed to be the main entrance and gateway into the temple from the road. The encroachers have completely swallowed it up and blocked it off.

It is now incredibly difficult for regular devotees, especially elderly folks, to even access the temple safely. It’s absolutely ridiculous that a public place of worship can be casually barricaded like this by land grabbers. We all know this scale of encroachment doesn't just happen overnight without local officials turning a blind eye (or getting a cut).

I'm hoping to get some visibility here. If you live nearby, please upvote or share this. If anyone has successfully dealt with this kind of civic nightmare before and knows the best way to escalate it, please let me know in the comments. We can't just let our community spaces get swallowed up like this.

Please read through these updates carefully before making your next post:

  • No Price Policing: We will no longer tolerate price policing in the comments. Sellers are free to price their fragrances as they see fit. If you feel a price is too high, simply move on or negotiate politely in DMs if the seller is open to it. Publicly criticizing pricing clutters the threads and creates unnecessary toxicity. Buyers are expected to do their own research on pricing before buying.

  • Manual Post Approvals: To ensure our community remains safe and spam-free, all new posts are now subject to manual approval by the moderation team. Please ensure your listing adheres to all sub guidelines before submitting. We appreciate your patience and will review and approve posts as quickly as possible.

  • Strict Rules for Niche and Designer Fragrances Without Invoices: Until now, we didn't allow designers and niche frags without proof of purchase, but a lot of people reached out saying they lost it or it was a gift. Keeping in mind the safety of buyers, escrow/DVA will now be mandatory for these sales.

    • Action Required: Any Niche, Designer or high value listing without an invoice must include the following disclaimer at the bottom of the post: "To be sold only via escrow/DVA"
    • Posts missing an invoice that do not include this disclaimer will not be approved.
    • This is only for Designer, Niche and high value perfumes without invoice or clear proof of purchase. If you as a seller are not comfortable with this, then you can find other mediums to sell your frag.
