Cooling seats

I’ve cooling seating in my my2024. The bum part cools fine but I can barely feel the back. The dealership has a look and told me it was a software issue and it’s sorted; still nothing. They then replaced the fans - so I can now hear the seats but still feel very little. How cool should I expect the back to be?

Experience of heat pumps in large old listed building?

I have an old listed building - c.1780 - and work from home. Is the technology there yet to heat this sort of house, or do the systems run too cold, and are limited to odd times of day due to the electricity tariffs?

Spec of house:

Renovated c.1980s and c.2000 so a number of walls have a form of rockwool insulation in them, but not masses; impossible to add more without spending hundreds of thousands ripping the building apart. Radiators sized for an oil boiler system - most rooms won't take a larger radiator as there is limited wall space due to the shape of the rooms. 22mm copper backbone with 15mm feeding the rads. 15 rooms inc ensuite etc...; 275 square meters.

Any Irish communities in Kent

(i.e. people from Ireland, rather than traveller communities)

Are there any Irish communities in / around the Maidstone / Ashford / Tonbridge areas of Kent (or further afield if need be)? Ideally centred around hurling and camogie, music, language etc, as opposed to simply drinking Guinness?

How do I stop endless spam from the app?

I booked flights, and now I get notifications 5 times a day trying to sell me crap. Under Push Notifications, I have "Flight Notifications" selected - "get instant updates on your flight status, gate changes, and any disruptions", and Promos unselected. I wouldn't put a 15% flash sale in the same bucket as a gate change. Can't wait till I complete my flight and I can delete the app again.

Painting windowsills

Last summer, I stripped my windowsill with a heat gun and scraper. Primed, undercoated and two top coats of Dulux exterior paint. And it didn’t last.

The timber is solid hardwood.

What did I do wrong?

Building a forecast view

I've been having a bit of fun building a kitesurf forecast and wanted to share it with the group. Yes, I've used AI heavily to build it, but so what! Key thing is that I want to be able to look in one place and see when I can go kite surfing - only too often, I've planned a trip to my local spot because the wind looked good and realised I forgot to check the tides.

Idea of this is for each spot, the server will pull in:

  • the wind forecast - it uses a short term and a long term forecast
  • wind direction - less important for holiday sites with rescue boats, but quite important if my next stop is France if I go wrong!
  • tide forecast - some kite spots like high tide; for others, high tide is dangerous
  • water temperature - so I can plan the right wetsuit
  • water quality - my local water company seems to think discharging raw sewage is fine

For each user:

  • weight
  • skill level
  • kites - and wind tolerances of each kite
  • boards - which board works best with the wave size
  • spots - not every user will surf at every spot
  • overrides - whilst offshore might not be recommended on some spots, some users might be more tolerant of an offshore wind etc..

One question is what else am I missing?

Octopus Home Pro and Octopus Mini - what to do

I've got my Octopus integration where I want it, but now thinking of fixing with EDF. If I move across, I assume my Home Pro and Octopus Mini will go into landfill - or, as they are both on Kraken, will they continue to work?

Or does EDF provide an alternative solution?
