[MO, USA] Golden jumping spider with a snack
Beautiful critter 😍😍😍 Paraphidippus aurantius. I think it has a cricket, but I can't quite tell. Btw I was blowing ants off my phone, not trying to blow on the spood.

I thought this was neat, hadn't seen this one before. It looks like it's not super common (below 5% in domestic cats and dogs, per this article I'm reading). I found the second picture here while reading up about these, but the vet's page looks legit, so I'm guessing they just used it as an interesting visual. I'm pretty sure the xray and story are really theirs. Not a scientist, just an interested layperson, so I welcome corrections and more info!
Metric paper wasp, Polistes metricus. Not sure on the fly, I think a flesh fly
I was videoing all the danged japanese beetles!!!! I believe this is Calopompilus maculipennis
Possibly Limonethe maurator. I love watching them dart around
I listened to a podcast a while back about wasps, and that guy called himself a spheksologist. When I was searching just now, I saw references to vespologists. The main word I saw was hymenopterists, which includes more than just wasps.
So do most of those who study wasps actually call themselves one of these? Or do they stick with "entomologist that specializes in wasps?"
I'd spilled the food, I don't feed directly on the concrete. Also Glory wasn't causing problems, Thad had been harassing her 😂😂
If anyone is able to identify them, I'd love to know :) I have the iNat id, but Idk enough about how to identify snails to verify it. I'm in Missouri, USA
Hi everyone! 😻
Warren just had a vet visit! While we discuss future care, I thought it would be a great idea to tell all Warren's new friends what he's been through, what's happening now, and where we go from here! ❤️
We found Warren in late march with a serious case of ringworm and some congenital disabilities. He has been undergoing various treatments, including twice a week baths and various antibiotics. He has improved a lot, but a cat like him still needs a lot of care.
Today he saw his new vet, a former shelter vet who we thought would give him a chance. I will keep everyone posted on what happens next, but for now we will continue caring for him and hope for the best in the future 😊 He will continue ringworm care until he is officially cleared by a skin scrape, which unfortunately was not possible today.
Heart of America Humane Society has been his amazing sponsor so far as we foster him. We hope to adopt him someday, so big thanks to them for all their support in helping make him healthier!
Thank you so so much to all Warren's new friends! It's amazing having so much support as we look ahead to whatever comes next 😸 Please feel free to ask any questions and find Warren on the Wonderful Warren Facebook page!
He has a fb page called Wonderful Warren if you want to see more of him (highly recommend). This sub doesn't allow links to Facebook, but he pops right up when you search for him.
Sam-I-Am aka Sammy is the silver tabby, Thad is the brown. They're literally never apart. If one goes slightly out of sight, as soon as they see each other again, they greet each other like they've been gone a million years. Thad has only recently meowed for the first time in front of me, and it was when he was trying to get Sammy's attention. I have very few pics of one without the other. SO cute.
