WTT: Seymour Duncan Diamondhead, MXR Hybrid Fuzz, Mooer Shimverb WTTF: fuzz/drive, parts, enclosures, tools?

Howdy all. Square on needs just looking to try some new fuzz or drive out, also getting into trying to build some pedals and would love some enclosures, also am looking for a drill, for drilling said enclosures.

WTT:
- Seymour Duncan Diamondhead drive/boost (hot rodded Marshall high gain but a very pleasant low/mid gain, sounds much nicer with humbuckers IMO)
- MXR Hybrid Fuzz
- Zoom MSCDR70 w/ a few effects swapped, has an orange amp sim and a couple bass amps
- Mooer Shimverb (as a thrown in most likely)

WTTF:
- other fuzz/dirt. Don’t need anything in the realm of muffs or klons
- pedal building supplies. I’m mostly looking for PCBs and enclosures, pretty square on transistors and diodes, but welcome pots and switches also.
- a drill, for drilling said enclosures. That’s a stretch I know.

Thanks y’all!

How would you get started, if you learned all over again with the experience you have now?

Long time lurker, finally decided to take the plunge while I have some free time and mess around with building pedals. I have no delusion that this will be a for profit endeavor or that I’m going to build anything spectacular, I just like the idea of being even further into the rabbit hole of my pedal addiction, and being able to build myself an overdrive when the urge to try a new one out comes would be really cool to me.

All that to say; what would be a good “starter pack” so to speak, in terms of buying parts? I know there’s kits out there, and I’ll probably start with one just to be able to finish something and get that dopamine, but I do want to be able to set up a little breadboard and experiment and mod things too. I have basic tools (soldering iron, wire cutters and strippers, etc) stuff from guitar builds, but that’s about it.

Is there something you wish you bought in bulk earlier on to save money, or a particular component you found that you would/wouldn’t use as often as you thought? A tool that has saved you a lot of headache?

Thanks all, looking forward to posting an ugly, barely functioning first build gutshot when it happens!

WTT: Diamondhead, J Rockett Melody, Mr Black Deuce Coupe, Nobels ODR-1, Cosmotone Fuzz, cheapies WTTF: pedals with momentary feedback/self oscillation, fuzz, flexible boosts?

Howdy all! Happy trading.

WTT:
- Seymour Duncan Diamondhead (bit of a feeler. The boost sounds great with single coils but the drive sounds great with humbuckers, hoping to find a more flexible boost that I can make work with both)
- Mr Black Deuce Coupe dual drive/boost
- J Rockett Melody EQ/drive
- Harold St Cosmotone Fuzz (analogman Astrotone style fuzz. Really more of a fuzzy OD to my ears. Sounds great but I want a legit fuzz)
- Nobels ODR-1 with bass cut
- Mooer Shimverb
- VSN Amazon cheapo mini tuner
- various parts, no pickups or necks/bodies but trem arms, pots, knobs, pickguards etc, if you’re a partscaster nerd like me.
- I have a few things I’m really not looking to move but would discuss at a specific want. Nothing too fancy, I’m not harboring a Big Time or anything.

WTTF:
- some kind of momentary feedback/self oscillation switch. DBA Sonic Annihilation? I miss my When The Sun Explodes, but it’s way too big.
- Germ Warfare, or other flexible EQ boosts/very light overdrive.
- fuzz, more in the realm of fuzz faces or tonebenders. Preferably not buffer sensitive.
- stereo tremolo of some kind, maybe?
- wouldn’t hate another RV6, or RV5 maybe?
- offers, but i’m likely square on muffs, Klon clones, modulation, and delay.
- down with three ways, cash to balance either way, etc.

Thanks!

NOD: Seymour Duncan Diamondhead drive/boost

I’m kinda surprised how much I immediately liked this. I’m a sucker for dual drive/boosts, and have tried a lot. Picked this up locally for a pretty cheap deal just to try, and it clicked quickly. Really like the boost circuit side independently, and it definitely roars. A bit more gain on tap than I need, but I’m impressed!

Seymour Duncan makes shockingly dope pedals evidently (vapor trail, 805?) and I rarely see them.

WTT: Mr Black Deuce Coupe, Cosmotone Fuzz, cheapies, offset bridges, parts WTTF: Rooms, drive/fuzz offers

Hey all! Board is in a good place but I’m having the semi annual identity crises where I have the compulsion to change my entire dirt section for no good reason.

WTT:
- Mr Black Deuce Coupe dual drive/boost
- Harold St Pedals Cosmotone Fuzz (modded analogman Astrotone)
- Mooer Shimverb
- offset Foals brass bridge
- standard offset bridge from a Player 2 Jazzmaster
- Vintera Jaguar bridge pickup (if I cop a replacement)
- tone hatch shin kicker tele bridge pickup, high output
- various trem arms, knobs, covers, etc if you’re a partscaster nerd like me. Happy to clear up some space and send stuff off your way.
- Cash/3 ways/cables/toppers/etc to balance, I’m easy that way.

WTTF:
- DBA Rooms is the big want but obviously I don’t have any 1/1 value for it, but happy to discuss making it work if some combo of pedal(s) and clams get me there.
- dirt and fuzz. I’m square on the Klon topology, wouldn’t mind something Zendrive-y, mayyyybe tubescreamer-y. Been eyeing a KittyCasterFX Groovy Wizard. Also NHA-Unclean curious. Not a fan of muffs, usually.
- stereo tremolo, maybe? Not a huge need but a consideration.
- Jaguar pickups? Have a Vintera and it sounds great but I’m thinking about maybe a higher output bridge pickup.
- a body that will accept a fender spec neck. Loaded is preferred, no issues with finishes but I do love a good relic. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy at all.
- offers as always, but I’m likely all set on modulation and delay.

Thanks yall, happy trading!

WTT: Supermoon Eclipse, Deuce Coupe, ODR-1, Les Paul Jr p90, cheapies, parts WTTF: DBA Rooms, Fuzz/Drives, IR loader/cab sim, offers

Howdy all! Pretty well square and just trying to pare down on some things that haven’t quite made the cut.

WTT:
- Mr Black Supermoon Eclipse Stereo Reverb
- Mr Black Deuce Coupe dual drive/boost
- Nobels ODR-1 Bass Cut (a bit of a feeler honestly, I love this thing)
- Zoom MSCDR70 modded to include some amp sims (orange, bass svt, acoustic)
- Mooer Shimverb
- Joyo AC Tone
- Parts Les Paul Junior P90. This thing is pretty punk. It’s beat up and pink and the headstock says “fuck” in comic sans. Currently set up for Drop C, and it sounds fantastic. I’m not totally sure what the p90 is, there’s no markings, but it sounds great and weirdly warm for a bridge only guitar. Happy to provide pictures, demos, whatever you’d like. It’s not worth much but I don’t have room for it anymore.
- 2 offset bridges from standard Player 2 jazzmasters
- tone hatch shin kicker tele bridge pickup, high output

WTTF:
- DBA rooms is the big want but obviously I don’t have any 1/1 value for it, but open to discussing whatever.
- Drive/dirt/fuzz offers. Not generally super into muffs, bluesbreakers or Klons, but feel free to shoot your shot!
- Walrus Monumental, other stereo trem?
- an IR loader/cab sim, cheap/mini is fine, perhaps even preferred.
- I love building partscasters, so maybe some kinda neck or semi loaded body? Especially one I could put that tele pickup in?
- offers as always, but I may be a tad picky on a couple things. Cash/3 ways/cables/toppers/etc to balance, I’m easy that way.

Thanks yall, happy trading!

Harold Street Cosmotone Fuzz demo v2, with actual fuzz this time!

Had to throw in a lil Hendrix at the end for our guy u/graphicnerdity86

I’ve come to realize I really really like this circuit (modified take on the analogman Astrotone). It falls firmly into that camp of “fuzz for people who aren’t sure they like fuzz yet” because at dimed settings it starts to get a little wilder, but cleans up excellently and has a very useable sweep across the volume and fuzz knobs. I’ll always vouch for a tone knob on a fuzz too. Overall a really nice pedal!

And the big muff shirt I’m wearing is merch from my friend’s store - DB Music on reverb!

WTT: Valve Crystal tube preamp, Halberd, Darkstar v2, Part Garden, Mr Black, Cosmotone Fuzz, ODR-1 BC, board, parts, more WTTF: DBA Rooms, Jaguar, maybe other guitars, Silktone Fuzz+, offers

Howdy all. Made some big changes to my rig so moving a few things I didn’t plan on parting with. Main want is a Rooms, but I’m also thinking about starting a new partscaster build of some kind, and thinking about a jaguar this time.

WTT:
- HTJ-Works Valve Crystal 12AX7 tube preamp in pink (incredibly good preamp and super feeler. I just have upgraded to a Peace Hill that does the same thing. SSS style, beautiful clean and takes pedals like a champ)
- EAE Halberd v2.5 in rust (super feeler)
- OBNE Darkstar v2 standard blue/black
- MAE Part Garden, pink enclosure
- Mr Black Deuce Coupe dual drive/boost
- Harold Street Cosmotone Fuzz (modified take on the Analogman Astrotone)
- Zoom MSCDR70 modded with some amp models
- Nobels ODR-1 bass cut
- Acorn MigFet Clone
- Mooer Shimverb
- Joyo AC tone
- VSN amazon brand mini tuner
- Tone Hatch Shin Kicker Tele Bridge Pickup
- nano sized cheapo board
- have a couple standard fender offset bridges laying around from a player series Jazzmaster and Mustang.
- cash to balance if you’ve got a specific want or mine

WTTF:
- DBA Rooms is the #1 want at the moment, and the Valve Crystal and Halberd will likely only be going to this or a Jaguar.
- Jaguar or Jaguar parts - pooooosssssibly into other guitars, but I really don’t need anything strat/tele adjacent. Something MIM would be cool, even that H/S player series one. I love partscasters so if you’ve got a project build of a jag, let me know and we can see.
- Silktone Fuzz+ or other vintage-y voiced fuzz
- offers, but I’m going to be real picky on the top couple things.

- I’m probably *not* super into muffs, Klones or tubescreamers, and if it’s delay or reverb it’s gotta be stereo. That said I’m less picky on the cheaper stuff so don’t hesitate to holler at me.

Thanks yall!

WTT: Dirt (Spaceman, Mr Black, Nobels, more), MSCDR70, parts WTTF: other fuzz/dirt, reverb

Howdy all! Just swapping out some pieces of my dirt section. Also have a couple odds and ends if that’s up anyone’s alley.

- Mr Black Deuce Coupe (newer black version)
- Harold Street Pedals Cosmotone Fuzz (super feeler, box)
- Spaceman Apollo VII (box)
- Nobels ODR-1 bass cut (box)
- Zoom MSCDR70 (feeler but I’m just not using it much)
- Depot Project Acorns MigFet clone
- Mooer Shimverb
- Joyo AC tone
- Tone Hatch Shin Kicker High output tele bridge pickup, brand new never installed
- bridge from a brand new Player 2 Jazzmaster
- nano-sized pedalboard, some cheap Amazon brand I’m p sure.

WTTF:
- fuzz that falls more under “vintage” and “smooth” than “Velcro” and “heavy”
- NHA Unclean
- BNE Exploder
- other distortion offers - I specify distortion because I’m quite well covered in the low gain realm.
- reverb, doesn’t have to be fancy, just something to throw in front of dirt for some gazin’. Ghost Echo, RV-5/6, Oceans 11 maybe. Bonus points for good spring, and I’m not a shimmer guy.
- stereo delay. Doesn’t need to be anything super fancy, would love a UA Starlight again, but open to DD7/8, TC flashback, anything stereo but stereo is a must.
- offers as always, 3 ways, cash/cables/toppers whatever to balance, I’m easy.

- I probably *don’t* want any Klons, standard NYC style muffs, or modulation, but feel free to shoot your shot. I like trying new stuff.

N(F)PD; Harold Street Pedals Cosmotone Fuzz

Bit unconventional fuzz chain/tone here, I was running the Cosmotone into the plugin Lofi Oddity and added a chorus to the reverb.

The Cosmotone I recently got via trade, and it’s very cool. It definitely is a mild fuzz, which I love. Some people describe distortion and drive pedals as “getting into fuzz territory” - I would say this is a fuzz gets into drive territory. Even at the most extreme settings, it’s still quite low gain, compared to say a bc108 type fuzz.

The cleanup is really interesting, in that it seems to get brighter as you roll back the volume. I don’t know if it’s done intentionally to combat expected treble bleed, but it allows you to get nice bright hairy cleanish tones and then roll volume back up into overdriven and fuzzy territory, with a higher gain amp or into another pedal.

Overall, I really dig it! I don’t think it is versatile enough to be the only fuzz on a board, but it certainly has it’s place. It definitely wants to go into a dirty channel or higher gain amp, as you can see how low gain it is in the clip being run into a totally clean fender style amp.

Producer/Multi-instrumentalist/Writer looking for vocals, maybe a group? (indie/pop/alternative/country)

Hey all!

I am a mix engineer/producer who plays several instruments and loves a wide variety of music. Problem is, I make a lot of different things in different styles, and I would love to have someone with a particular sound who can work and bounce ideas off one another. I used to rap and sing but do less of it these days, but I can do just about everything else.

Some of my favorite newer artists out there (and a sort of sound and vibe i'd be into making) would be; Wednesday, Mannequin Pussy, Freak Slug, Momma, MJ Lenderman, etc. but I am not picky and I'm open to whatever, that's just kinda my wheelhouse.

Unsure if posting a link is within the rules, so I'm happy to send over a soundcloud page full of demos and ideas if you want to check my stuff out, and I'd love to do the same for you.

Thanks y'all, excited to create something!

What’s your favorite under the radar fuzz/topology?

So we all know and love the classics of course, and everything can be traced back to similar roots, but I still find myself hearing about fuzzes I’ve never done any research on or heard any demos of. I recently traded for a fuzz based on an Astrotone that I’m very excited to put through it’s paces, having never tried or really looked into one before.

It got me thinking - what is everyone’s favorite “underrated” or less commonly used and recommended fuzz circuit?

My personal opinion - the fuzz on the Benson Deep Sea Diver is fantastic as a regular ole’ fuzz, not just as a shoegazey/wall of fuzzy delay tool. I’ve had the pedal twice and I usually turn the delay mix completely down and just run the fuzz. I guess it’s a bender 1.5//2 hybrid of some kind, but it hits my ears a lot better than most 1.5 style fuzzes do.

Finally got one of my all time favorites back, Benson GE Fuzz

Just some shitty blues dad noodling, but mannnnn talk about “glassy” and “cleans up”. Love this thing.

WTS: Walrus D1 MKII, Tumnus cheapies

Hey all! Prices shipped to the lower 48, open to discussion of shipping international. Only trades I’d be into would be a Silktone Fuzz+ or a nice Envelope Filter. If you want multiples I’m happy to make a dealio.

- Wampler Tumnus standard, no box - $80
- Alan Moore Chwyong Octave Fuzz $65
- Alan Moore modded EHX LPB-1 to have a bass cut toggle and an added clipping diode toggle. $50

Thanks!

NGD; Tone Bakery Jazzbird with a TWT neck

Got this recently on the trade sub and fell in love with it. Has a 25.5 scale and a 5 way selector, so it sounds like a Firebird and plays like a strat. Slapped a TWT neck from China on it, shockingly good for a $50 neck.
