I made a new trailer for Vitrified - a post-nuclear Metroidvania that focuses on companion mechanics, atmosphere and worms

My previous trailers have been too generic and don't spell out what makes my game different. So here I've tried to focus on what does stand out rather than it trying to be something it isn't. This is a Metroidvania that focuses on exploring an atmospheric post-nuclear wasteland, companion mechanics where you work together with ALAN the robot, and a tight, unique story. Lots of Metroidvanias focus on challenging platforming or difficult to learn combat, but Vitrified isn't that. It does have platforming and satisfying combat, but at it's core it's an atmospheric adventure with good visuals and a very unique (in my opinion) core mechanic. I hope that appeals to some of you! If you're interested, here is the Steam page. There is also a demo should it take your fancy. Cheers!

Release timing around NF, Steam Theme Fest and Seasonal Sale

Got a bit of a release timing dilemma. I plan to release my game in March 2027, and I just discovered the Steam Dinos vs Robots Fest 2027 runs from 29th March, which I am eligible for and have entered (and is frankly amazing timing to be right next to when I plan to release). On top of that, I will be in the February Next Fest which ends 1st March. So conventional logic suggests I should release mid-March between those two events, to give my game the standard few days of post-launch visibility before the theme fest, while keeping some momentum after Next Fest finishes.

However, the Spring Sale is also mid-March, from 18th-25th, and launching during a sale is apparently a very bad idea. So the timeline is:

22nd Feb - 1st March Next Fest

18th March - 25th March Spring Sale

29th March - 5th April Dinos vs Robots Fest

Does anyone have experience with launching near a Steam Fest or Seasonal Sale and have any suggestions? I also wonder if launching in the Dinos vs Robots fest might be a good idea, but it makes sense to make the most of my launch visibility, then have visibility jump again in the festival after. Or possibly launch right after it? Thanks for your help!

Showcasing the companion platforming in Vitrified

The platforming in my metroidvania focuses on utilising your robot friend ALAN to help you. At this point in the game he can throw you into the air and extend his hand to make far away ledges reachable. Thanks to my Discord member Kastuk for suggesting the falling stalagmites!

I've been working on this mysterious post-nuclear Metroidvania for 4 and a half years now, and I'm really happy with how it's taking shape.

It's been such a long road to get the game into it's current form and I'm finally really happy with the state it's in. I've had loads of feedback from people in my Discord, and at the expo I exhibited at, and it finally feels worthy of being considered a real game. It's an atmospheric post-nuclear metroidvania where you progress through the world with a service bot called ALAN, and the world is inspired by Fallout and Dune. I just pushed a big update to the Steam demo and it would be really cool to hear what you think. It's called Vitrified and this is the steam page if you are interested: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2571610/Vitrified/
