How was Canadian testing center availability for the August tests?

I live in a major population center (Ottawa) but when I tested in June the testing center seemed kind of small and already full, despite online testing being available?

I made the decision to sign up for both the September and October LSATs kind of last minute (5 days before registration closed for September), and I know they are moving to a first registered first scheduled model going forward, with all LSATs being held in person.

I don’t have a car/means to take several days off work, so if I need to travel I likely would just not take the test :/

In August were there generally enough slots for everyone, or did people have to travel to find a spot? Waiting for the 25th is stressing me out.

Making a late decision to apply - too late to ask for letters of reference?

Wasn’t sure if I was going to apply this cycle or not because I wasn’t sure my last LSAT score was competitive/if I was going to retake the LSAT this cycle.

Decided I’d like to give it a go and have signed up for the October LSAT- I still need to write my personal statement this weekend (I write super fast so not concerned) so the earliest I can send requests to profs will be next week. I’ve been out of school for quite a while (did a masters) so will need to send my statement/cvs with my requests.

Is this likely to result in poor letters of reference, or should I stick with the schools that don’t require references for now? I’m currently heavily preferring UofM which only needs LSAT and GPA, but was also considering USask and a few Ontario schools.

Is it normal for calorie deficit to take a while to work?

F, 6’2”, 275 lbs, 26 years old

I started my calorie deficit about a month ago. My TDEE is at 2600, so I’ve been limiting to 1600 with the aim of 2 lbs a week. I’m mostly sedentary due to arthritis unfortunately (the weight loss is partially to help with this).

I am weighing all my food, using a tracker, overestimating whenever I am even remotely uncertain (i.e. several listings on MFP, I select the highest one), and not eating anything that I can’t weigh. I’ve confirmed my scale is accurate.

I haven’t lost at all yet - my body keeps fluctuating up two pounds, down two pounds, repeat. Is it normal for this to take a while to start working? Or do I need to go to the doctor? I’ve heard of a huge drop in water weight within the first week, and I haven’t even done that :/

How to make the scale move . . . Down

Woman, 26, 6’2”, 275 lbs, sedentary

Recently decided to start taking my health seriously after many years of saying I would get to weight loss eventually. Weight gain has been gradual - I was a big kid, and 200 pounds in high school. Unfortunately this attempt to lose weight has been triggered by arthritis in my SI joints, which is making movement, even walking, really difficult. I’m powering through as I can, but its usually one day exercise one day rest :(

I’ve bought scales and have been religiously weighing/tracking calories and entering them into myfitnesspal, and have currently committed to myself to not eat anything if I can’t weigh/enter it. The measuring spoons cups etc are all out for the sauces/oils etc. My fitness pal is telling me to eat 1900 calories a day, I’m usually coming in at around 1350-1700 (normally on the lower end tbh) and have not been ridiculously hungry with this. I haven’t had to make too many changes to my diet for some reason to accomplish this - I’ve cut out my odd dessert and any carby snacks and have been measuring sauces, but otherwise I’ve been eating my normal meals.

I’ve been at this for a month, and the scale will not go down, and is actually continuing to go up? I weighed myself a few days after I started (273.2) and then I had a huge jump the next day that shocked me (270.8), and since then its just steadily climbed back up so now I am at 276.4 - higher than I started.

I know it might seem like I am not weighing my food properly/not actually in a calorie deficit etc., but I swear I would not be asking for advice if I felt I was cheating in any way. I keep thinking about how I’ve not been super hungry/haven’t made huge changes to my diet/number of meals etc. - is it possible I just have a super low maintenance amount? Also I know that our bodies hold water after a workout - could it be doing the same thing with my arthritis? How do I get it to stop?

Chance me: 3.8 GPA/159 LSAT

Gpa is technically a 4.09/4.3 - I know this might convert differently on the 4.0 scale

Plan is to retake the LSAT once, and then take what I get. If the retake is lower it will be the 159.

Softs:
Won some medals in undergraduate for having the highest program GPA (idk if this matters)
Masters in Political Science
Have worked in government for 4 years, very interested in charter/legislative drafting work

Might struggle with academic letters a bit because i’ve been out of school for a while, and was focused on work at the end of my MA.

Looking primarily at Uottawa or the prairie schools.

Is there a drop in group or something for French practice?

Like much of this city probably is at any given time, I am working on picking up French, but am struggling substantially with comfort speaking out loud and don’t have anyone to practice with. I’m wondering if there is a drop-in conversation group or something running for speaking practice?

I’m not looking for instruction, and am ok if I make a few mistakes, but just looking to get more comfortable speaking conversationally. I’m at a relatively beginner/intermediate level, and am in the downtown area.

Mini Imprisoned Drops

I just got an imprisoned material drop from a mini imprisoned, off a koholint adventure map stage.

As far as I remembered, this doesn’t happen, hence why all the suggested imprisoned farming stages are the big boss battles - is this new to DE, or specific to certain maps/modes?

Argumentative Writing Set-Up - Are they as strict as the LSAT?

I opted to take the LSAT at a testing center because I couldn’t guarantee my apartment would meet the remote proctoring rules - unfortunately this isn’t an option for argumentative writing, which I still have to do.

I live in a studio apartment alone, so there is no risk of someone coming in. But the apartment is weirdly shaped - kind of L/stairway shaped. Generally my door is at the top of the L, and my desk is at the bottom of the L around the corner, with the kitchen behind it. The bed is in the outside corner and is too heavy for me to move. The effect is that the entire apartment can’t be seen from one spot in the apartment/I don’t have four walls I can show. I also have lots of things visible - my bed/bookshelves/kitchen/personal effects.

I plan to tidy/cover as much as I can with a sheet. For the layout, should I prioritize having particular things behind me on the camera? I can move the desk so the proctor can see the door, but then they will be able to see nothing else in the apartment . . . Would I just walk around the apartment to show there is no one in it first - or does the 360 scan get done from one spot?

Worried because I am already taking the written portion late, and if my submission gets flagged for review I’m probably going to be super delayed getting my results 😭

Either the mocha or cappuccino flavours would work. It supposedly came out a couple months ago, but I haven’t seen it in any grocery stores/tims locations yet - wondering if I’m frequenting the wrong one!

Not to hype tim hortons but I’ve been looking for a dupe for a nescafe syrup that was discontinued a few years back.
