New player, Fun gameplay but I wish the CPU was better and the game had better singleplayer.

Hi, I've been playing BlazBlue for many years now and started learning Undernight. I'm mostly casual and enjoy playing vs cpu and sometimes hop online. I've played so much vs cpu that I actually woop many higher ranked people in that game when I do. The reason for that is that the cpu is actually quite good in BlazBlue and presents a challenge, especially to a new player.

Having started Undernight, I really like the gameplay feel, but I'm a bit sad to notice that the cpu is way weaker and inconsistent. It doesn't seem to have the same level of programming complexity when it comes to its behavior, and many times just stops or does not follow up confirms for combos. If you play a zoner you can literally just zone most cpu to death by shooting from across the screen too. I don't feel like I'm learning much playing vs the cpu in this game sadly as compared to blazblue.

For a casual player, Singleplayer content matters in fighting games. Tekken and Street Fighter have learned this and incorporated more in their latest games. In BlazBlue you literally have a whole dungeon mode for each character with a boss rush at the end, besides other modes too. Saying that only online matters for the general public anymore is not the reality we live in, as you will see in many fighting games that just die on arrival, while the top games do have more singleplayer.

The reason for this post is I guess to express awareness that this game or series would probably have a better chance at retaining more players if it had better and more singleplayer content. Those players can then transition to online when they are comfortable doing so. At the point I'm at I'll be playing mostly only when my other friend that started the game with me has time to play against me.

I also wanted to ask if there are any ways to make the cpu even better, because I haven't found any. Thanks!

My Favorite 25 Video Games. Thoughts?

I tried to put them somewhat in order. They are also heavily based on what I played and enjoyed the most. I'm born in the very late 80s. My main gaming platforms were Gameboy, SNES, N64 and PC.

Let me know what you think.

Have a great day!

What is the current best version to play KOF13 offline specifically on? GoG, Steam Edition or Global Match Edition on steam?

Hello, I'm only interested in playing offline, so in that case what edition would be the best? I have the option to get any of those three yes.

I read in some comment that the Global Match edition has forced 2ms input delay offline and the others don't? Anyone knows if that's true? Are there any other differences for offline between the versions I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Trying to play Unreal Gold Evolution mod but having technical problems.

Hi, i tried installing the mod but when I start the game the colors are weird and ingame the game runs at like 10 fps. No idea if anyone knows anything that could help so I'm asking? I reinstalled and same thing.

I'm running the OldUnreal version of Unreal Gold btw.

Anyone else feels Bird mode is too short?

It gives almost no time to do anything even if you can move in different directions now. I feel like it should like almost 1 second longer or something because the cooldown justifies it imo. Thoughts?

Super fun game, but performance is terrible.

I tried and played for a good 8 hours and have lots of fun. However, the game is set to release in one and a half month and performance is not up to standard. I kept getting stuttering when loading into certain areas of the map and some random fps drops. Optimization seems lacking. I really hope they sort performance out for the full release, as it's the main thing holding the game back at the moment.

Another complaint I have is the AI Bots. At times, even after playing for a while, I'm sometimes not sure if I really fought a player or a bot. It's not always easy to tell. So I'd love if bot matches just stopped all together past certain level. Is this the case? If so I don't know yet.

Which Trails game's Artstyle (not graphics) do you like the most?

Hello,

As I've been playing through the Trails games from start, now reaching Daybreak, I asked myself which game I think looks the best from an artstyle point of view. Yes the later games are always going to have better graphics (lightning, post-effects, shadows, textures, and so on...) but there was something in those older games artstyle that I kinda miss. It's hard to completely separate Artstyle from Graphics let's be honest, as it's all part of how the game looks visually, but hey I thought why not try.

I'll post my own favorite looking games (or arcs I guess) when it comes to artstyle, both characters and environments:

1st place: the original Trails in the Sky. The first few games had chibi sprites which I loved, and in SC we are given plenty of cool moments to make those sprites shine. The S crafts look so unique because of how the characters look. All in all I just really liked that first old school style. To contrast, I felt like the environments were pretty basic, nicely designed, but there is a lot of repetition of assets, which means looking at the same things over and over. BUT, the main reason why I consider this my favorite looking Trails game is the character portraits. They are outstanding! They convey that old anime style of the late 90s early 00s, the characters look mature, and the portraits are amazing at showing proper emotions in relation to the scene, even including micro reactions and quick emotions. So the portraits really carry the games aesthetics for me and because of that it's my favorite in this regard. + I actually really like the enemy design too, especially in Sky 3rd.

2nd place: the Crossbell games. I'm not going to lie I LOVE how the game looks. Everything is higher quality than the Sky games, and the artstyle is PEAK. Environments are detailed, Crossbell is amazing looking, and other locations are very well designed. The menus look great too. The game just looks clean in every regard to me. The character models are better and more detailed than in Sky too. The Entertainement districts with all that it has looks super well crafted. In Azure you get some of the best looking assets in the series imo >!Orchis Tower and the Azure tree!< I just really like everything, except for one thing... I prefer the old portraits of Sky over the new ones. Don't get me wrong, the new ones look great and fit the game, but some characters >!especially returning Joshua, Estelle and Khloe imo!< did not have great ones. Love this game overall and honestly in general it looks better than the Sky games. It's a preference thing.

3rd place: Erebonia part 1 (Cold Steel 1 and 2). While graphically the game is... not great, when it comes to artstyle it has that old PSP era style which imo has great character facial expression. Yes the actually models are old 3D but there is something about the character faces that I really really love, and they convey emotions very well, which is something I feel is lost in the games after this sadly, as the faces get more generic. The environmental design is also amazing save for a few parts >!the plains mostly!< and the cities are lovely and cozy. The character design gets better in the second game compared to the first, but still retain the same style. I feel like a lot of people don't like the graphics and animations, but the artstyle carries this for me quite a bit. It's pleasant to look at personally.

That's pretty much it for me, just some thoughts about the game. I feel drawn to the older style of the Trails game and miss it as I'm playing these newer games, although I'm enjoying how Daybreak looks more than the end of Coldsteel+Reverie tbh.

What are your favorite looking artstyle?
