Carnivores Series (1998-2002) 🦖

Hello everyone, I'm fully committed to starting a bounty for these games pending community input and viability.

These are childhood favorites of mine and I know some others would agree! All 4 games saw PC releases. The first 3 also received mobile ports (Android/iOS) as well as PSP and PS3 ports.

The first three games are focused on hunting and run on their own proprietary AtmosFear engine. The fourth game runs on the Serious engine (Serious Sam) and moving away from hunting to more of a linear single player FPS experience.

For context, the first two Serious Sam games have been ported to the Vita previously. As well, given the age/architecture (ARMv7) of the 32 bit versions of the first 3 games, it seems feasible at first glance!

All games are currently considered abandonware. I do not believe the source code has been leaked or is readily available. All titles are available for free on PC and mobile from the Play Store, App Store, MyAbandonWare, and other media preservation public repos. I did not see any of them on either Rinne's compatibility tracker or in Zealous Chuck's discord.

There is extensive mod support and a very active, small community for this series online that I'm sure would help contribute to development or sharing resources.

I wanted to get the community's thoughts on this! If it does seem these are viable I do plan to open a bounty over on Zealous Chuck's Kofi page. Thank you 🦖

Play your PS Vita!

As a community, let’s focus on the main thing we all share in common - an interest in playing games on our PS Vitas! I think if we focus on that for a week, then other discussions can be held, with cooler heads and clearer information at the ready.

There are still many Vita enjoyers who are at varying stages of sailing the seven seas, so let’s help them out where we can (provided they search the sub first!) - as far as I know, ports haven’t disappeared, just the method to obtain them is a bit more roundabout, but better for learning how ports are dl’d and updated in the long run.

So! Speaking of ports, what is your favourite as of late? I just can’t help going back to Sonic 3 A.I.R personally 🤩

Does anyone have Strider?

FKGi as well as other locations don’t have it. Is there a place I’m not looking or has it completely vanished??

possible virus disguised as Vita plugin

u/shevoK0

I was looking to install the EQVita plugin and came across the below github

https://github.com/Voistace/EQVita

It lists a newer version than what is found on VitaDB so i thought i would try it. Chrome flags it as dangerous, so i downloaded it on an isolated Linux VM. the zip only contains a bat, exe, and txt file.

I'm not expert here, but i don't think the Vita can use any of that. Is this a legit malicious file masquerading as a new version of a popular Vita plugin?

The original shev0K one is located here

https://github.com/shev0k/EQVita

and still lists version 1.10

EDIT: it has been taken down, and the account suspended. Thanks for the input guys!
