It’s moving into my server rack eventually. This was just to try it out. And I thought I’d share
I'm looking to start updating my lab- currently running on Intel Xeon E series chips and ddr4 pegged to 2666Mhz- up to DDR5 capable tower hardware and I can get a Dell Pro Max t2 with the following configuration available, would be interested in folks' opinion of this for home virtualization and services suite:
Intel 9 285- 65w
2x32GB ddr5-5600
RTX 2000ada- 16GB
It doesn't have a ton of PCIE lanes (my Asus c246 Pro was so great in that regard with slots for x1/x8/x8/x4/x4/x1) But it gets me up from pcie 3.0 to 5.0 and adds DDR5 support.
I'd probably swap out the GPU and use integrated graphics for transcoding.
Is this a dumb idea? is 1200-1500 a fair price range to offer?
Intel is cooking with this one. I’ve had a number of friends and family ask me to help them set up local LLM servers at home. Most of the time they are too frustrated by the technical side to get very far. But this new endpoint t software is an absolute game changer. Running it on my B50 and my 5090 using the CUDA version. Trying both Linux and Windows and the way they turned basic LLM tools into easy, fast software is going to be such a huge game changer for most casual local users. I’m blown away.
Decided to run some games on Steam from my home server, which has an Intel Xeon processor with no iGPU. was able to get the game running well at 1440 P medium settings. But none of the tracking software including “processes“ or Intel_GPU_top we’re able to identify that the card was working and that the memory was being used. Now I know that the card was rendering because I checked it with Vulkan info. And also because the game was running without an IGPU But I had no way of tracking how much of the card was being utilized how much memory etc. etc.
Does anyone have a workaround for GPU usage tracking and statistics on Ubuntu Linux?
I ditched my CTE C750 this weekend :( I Loved this case but the GPU Temps were out of control. I specifically bought a model without a vapor chamber- a regular heat sink that was less likely to be a problem- the Gaming Trio 5090 from MSI. Still, hitting 75 degrees in normal gaming and 85+ at high draw points. I tried tons of different cooling configurations and realized it just wasn't gonna get better. So I switched to a "regular" orientation and yesterday- averaged 52 degrees under extreme workloads. When I had a 9070Xt or a 3070 in there it was fine. But if you are going for a high draw GPU, consider a normal orientation case.
I plan to buy some old parts and try a water cooled build in there later, unless someone in SE Michigan wants to give the case a good home now...
Long story short- CTE C750 is best equipped for water cooling or lower TDP GPUs.
Would love to hear others experiences. Also if you own an AX500- tell me about it, I'm looking at one next.

My brother lost his Cat Ziggy this week. Was his best little buddy for over 10 years. I had him over a couple weeks ago and we played arc raiders on my PCs. He really liked it so I figured he deserves something nice. I tried to get his foot in the door on “good stuff” without breaking the bank. So only 16GB ddr5 and a 7700x3d and a lot of my old parts- cooler, storage, psu are retreads.
My brother is the best guy you could ever hope to meet. Like if you dropped a million dollars near him he’d spend weeks making sure you got it back. Before I got sober I was a wretch and he kept me from slipping into the abyss, he helped me rebuild my life- which is REALLY good today. So I want to do something for him. He only ever thinks about everyone else, hes our disabled mom’s caregiver and guardian he is a great husband, a hard worker- he’s a plumber and hvac tech, and he’s basically my best friend. I know he’s interested in gaming and “local ai” so I wanted to get him 16GB of video memory GPU. Basically cost me my savings for this month but totally worth it. I’ll send an update when it’s built!
The Thermaltake CTE C750 is massive. And it’s got the flipped mobo. Would be great for water cooling. I have all the extra parts- gpu bracket, pump mount.

I bought a SSD online. It’s allegedly new but the price has me skeptical. It’s a WD NVME. How do I check that the drive is authentic, the size it’s advertised (not spoofed), and new in box? Thank you for any help.
Ok. So my brother and I are in our late 30’s, in the United States. I built a powerful gaming PC and now he has the itch. I want to surprise him with all the components and we can build it together.
At first I was gonna try something new like the Sapphire Phantom Link or MSI project zero. But I ended up wanting to focus on getting him something he can upgrade as he wants, so just a decent foundation pc to get started with.
We play Arc Raiders, Cyberpunk, BF6, The Finals. He will be playing at 1080p
Any changes I should make from this list? I already have: AIO (also have a Phantom Spirit if this is a pain), storage, and lots of fans.

Case is the CTE C750. AIO is on M/B side with 6, 140mm fans bringing in cool air from the back. Was a little worried about fit but it’s snug as a bug. The whole thing is running phenomenally
I have the opportunity to buy an A30 at what seems to be a below market price. I currently own a 5090 but I believe I could implement this card into my system (albeit at x8 PCIE 5.0) and even have some server fans capable of cooling it. My question is whether it's a "good" use of money or it I should be looking elsewhere? Does anyone use A30's in a home environment?
Crazy how even the slightest critical analysis makes the AI hype cycle out for the sham that it is.

I bought the thermal take CTE C 750 TG for my gaming build a little over a year ago. Some changes to my office set up mean I need to “upgrade” into a smaller footprint case. I am looking for suggestions, I’ve always had good experiences with thermaltake’s cases and fans. My requirements:
Needs to accommodate a 359 mm RTX 5090
Needs to accommodate an ATX motherboard
Needs to accommodate a 360 mm AIO
Should have good airflow, prefer to be able to reuse my 140 mm fans but not a requirement this case will be reused to house another device so I can keep the fans in it if I need to.
While I bought a model of graphics card that would work well in the vertical orientation – the RTX 5090 gaming trio from MSI uses a traditional heat sink cooler, I think a more typical orientation would work better for my new set up.
Would love to hear peoples suggestions
