Trader Joe’s Miracle

I don’t have a Trader Joe’s in my area, so any time I’m out of town I seek them out. I would typically stock up on the treats I can’t get at home. Triple Ginger Ginger Snaps, Joe-Joes, chips, crackers, chocolate, etc. and a few frozen meals. This time, I honestly didn’t want any of that. I actually bought GROCERIES that I needed. Lean chicken, frozen protein, fresh veggies, nuts. Who am I?!? This medicine is working miracles. 😂

Single-Dose Transportation

My shot day is Friday, which is also the day I’m leaving to visit family. Would it be cool to preload a single syringe, put the caps back on, and take it with me that way? Rather than skipping two days, or getting a travel cooler pack or something?

Clarification: I’m leaving that morning, but I’m not due for my shot til that night. I’m driving, so TSA is not a concern. I’m really more curious about timing, I guess, now that I have it more thought.

Unknown author/title

Found in an old copy of Gone With The Wind. It’s handwritten, and googling the first line got me zero results. Maybe this is an original poem? I transcribed it in the second pic, for those who aren’t fluent in cursive.

Getting a void today!

This is Pogo. He’s coming to live with me and my two white kitties today. He’s 11, and in the past few months he’s lost his momma (RIP), his doggo brother (adopted out), and his home (sold). So he’s gonna come join our family!

I met him over the weekend and despite being on his own for weeks (but regularly fed and checked on), he was quite friendly and sociable. He makes some mean biscuits, too. Can’t wait to get to know him and share more about him!

Peach Custard Cake

We’ve been making this for decades. It’s amazing. Shortbread-type crust, creamy custard, peaches (canned or fresh). We usually work from a retyped copy, but my mom pulled out the original tonight. You can tell it’s well-loved!

Health Care Directive

I had the craziest call today:

Client, super casual: “Hey, my mom had a heart attack and I want to make sure I’m listed as her agent on her health care paperwork.”

Me: “Yes, I just checked her documents. She named you in 2017. Unless she’s changed her documents since then, you’re still her agent.”

Client: “No, she hasn’t changed them. So I’m good as her agent?”

Me: “Yep, it’s still valid.”

Client: “Cool. Thanks. Oh, would you mind telling that to the EMT real quick?”

Me: 😳😳😳

I transferred her to the attorney at that point. Verifying legal status with emergency personnel is way above my pay grade. I’m not getting in the middle of that. Like WTF lady. Your mom’s having a heart attack. Maybe let the EMTs save her life now and worry about paperwork later!

I picked a bad time to finally start watching this series

When life imitates art, I guess. This shit is happening in real time here in the US. Never mind college, these girls don’t even get to experience middle school. (Eric Conn is a hardcore Christian Nationalist, much like the crowd that backs our president, for those unfamiliar with him)
