Turns out I just don't like the repex - I personally don't like the number of profiles that it has to activate and don't enjoy actually playing with it on the table (or on TTS, where I've been running it.)
Looking to trade it away for other units I can run with my black templars. Preference goes to vehicles, and my ideal trade would be a NOS land raider crusader, but I'm open to anything I don't already own three of, potentially with cash added on either side to smooth out differences in value.
Please make a post in the thread before sending a PM. Thanks!
This model wasn't as easy to paint as it looked - it was a mostly difficult to figure out how I wanted to place the colors I use in my typical scheme, to make it feel as if he fit with the rest of my army, and the lightning effect supporting the character is a nightmare to paint with any kind of transition compared with the similar energy on the void dragon.
With that said, I'm relatively happy with how he came out. Last shot is my Void dragon that was painted a few years ago, and my previous nightbringer proxy who is now standing in for the deceiver as needed until that model also gets its refresh.
Hey ya'll - there's a new Necron book either in people's hands, or on the way there. This is just a friendly reminder about spoilers. Obviously, no one likes to have a story spoiled, and we all have different levels of access to the novels as well as varying amounts of free time to read them in.
Policy around spoilers will be fairly standard - keep them out of thread titles. Threads discussing spoilers must maintain this rule, and must contain a warning somewhere in the title to prevent accidental clicks. Individual posts in threads that are not explicitly marked as spoiler threads should make use of >!the spoiler text feature!< - threads that are marked in the title as spoilers are fair game to discuss freely.
This policy will remain in place for the next SIX MONTHS, at which point we will return to a more case-by-case evaluation. There will be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in place, with a six month subreddit ban for violations, under our rule about treating other redditors with respect.
Quick-reference sheet:
Any questions surrounding this process should be asked here so that the first post can be kept updated.
Updated healing text with \"excluding characters\" on the model return portion.

played around with these extra wing/arm things for a bit now, I'm not sure yet whether I like them. what do you all think? what could be improved?
Or would you just go with the generic out-of-the-box nightbringer and leave the kitbashing for my other armies?
Looking for a replacement after my smartphone recently suffered some damage. I'm intrigued by the idea of dumb phones, and have found a lot of benefit to removing most apps from my smartphone over the last year. I'm not sure if taking the next step here makes sense for me or not.
I'm looking for:
Are there any dumb phones that fit here? Am I better off buying a cheap smartphone and "dumbing it down" myself (and if so, recommendations/guides for that process are appreciated) or do I need to spring for something like the Lightphone, which feels rather expensive for what it offers?
Thanks in advance!
I came to this sub back in 2018, and wound up in a 2014 Rav4 Limited with just under 60k miles, for ~18,000 USD. I had expected to just be starting to look at replacements another 5-6 years from now. That car was in an accident a month ago.
Looking at replacements, a comparable rav4 year and trim in the range of 100k miles is currently looking like it's going to cost me between 14 and 16k, which feels insane, so I guess I'm starting my search from scratch. What car should I buy?
A list of things I liked about the Rav4:
A list of things I didn't like about the Rav4:
I'm currently a grad student who will finish my program in less than a year. My budget is going to be my insurance payout and a bit extra- ideally under 15,000, but definitely not more than 20. I can't afford to be making constant repairs, but "something that will get me through the next 18 months" and then making an upgrade that will last me 10-12 years once I'm working also feels reasonable.
I'm looking for a daily commute vehicle; highway and city driving in the range of 20-30 miles per day. I don't have kids but do have dogs that would occasionally ride in the back. I've never really understood the idea of driving being "fun" and am really just looking for something that will get me to the places I need to be, as cheaply and consistently as possible without making my back hurt in the process.
Thanks in advance!
Been thinking about moving away from smartphones for a few months, but my pixel 6 recently suffered a fall, and while its still usable, the damage has moved my timeline up from "maybe in a year or two" to "probably before christmas."
I've thought through the process pretty thoroughly, and the things I'm looking for are:
From preliminary research (ie using the dumbphone finder website) it looks like I have a few options. For dedicated hardware, I have come across the lightphone 3, the mind phone 2, and the mudita kompact that hit all these points (can someone explain what an E-ink screen is to me like I'm five please?) The other option I'm considering is picking up a basic smart phone (given that they can be had for cheaper) and self-installing some degree of restrictive software or alternative OS on it. I don't love that option, but if it's the easiest way to accomplish what I'm looking for then it is what it is.
I'm not interested in anything that has any sort of AI feature, full stop. I don't care whatsoever about whatsapp, signal, banking apps, spotify, or any of the other typical requests in these threads, and in fact having access to them is a negative for me. I'm ideally not interested in something like the jelly that has full app access and seems to just do that job poorly either.
I suppose I'm double checking here to see what options I've overlooked and/or for personal experiences with these devices. It would also be great to know if I've overlooked any (less expensive?) options.
I attempted to post in the stickied thread yesterday, but I've not had any response so here's another of these posts. Thanks in advance!
Looking to pick up a nightbringer and a squad of ophydians, if anyone has them for sale. Theoretically interested in nekrosor too, but I figure that's a reach since he hasn't been in stock since january.
On sprue strongly preferred, given the spindly nature of necron models and inherent difficulty with shipping them - especially the ophydians, but will consider built if they're built and priced well.
Please leave a message in the thread before sending a chat. Thanks!
11th edition seems to be largely well received, but people are experiencing some growing pains here and there. For me personally, the most prominent among these are the fact that a large number of rules and definitions are only present in the 40k app. As much as I've joked in the past about 40k players not being able to read and learning to play entirely through experience and/or third party youtube videos, I would rather not have to resort to doing the same myself.
I was hoping we would see a PDF similar to 10th edition's rules commentary document by release if not soon after, but there has been no news or announcement from GW about plans to do so. How are people who do not/cannot access the app working around this in order to learn the rules and reference them to play their games?
New edition time! Like everyone, looking to make some swaps and complete some lists. Please leave a comment in the thread before PMing.
I have available:
A few notes:
All orks will come with proper bases, I just haven't separated them out of the armageddon packaging yet. If you want the ork portion of the transfer sheet, happy to include that. Dreadnoughts also come with bases - looking to sell or trade the dreads as a pair. The knight upgrade sprue has the banner clipped off - I had dry fit it to a model previously, but it is present, undamaged, and will ship with the rest.
I'll always take paypal G&S if that's the route you want to go. Trades I am interested in include:
Necrons - Nightbringer, Nekrosor Ammentar, Ophydian Destroyers, possibly other kits.
Space Marines - Gladiators, Chaplain on bike, possibly others. I play BT & imperial fists, if characters are involved.
Misc - Burning Chariot of Tzeentch, Ash waste nomads
This question has been asked at least a half dozen times a day, every day, for over a week now.
The answer is that there is no definitive answer. Ask your local TO for their ruling and abide by it, or if you are playing in a less competitive setting, figure it out with your opponent.
a new announcement post will be made when there is additional official clarification available. until that time, all threads on the subject will be removed.
