we just had to put this old man to sleep. nearly as old as me was this fella, we found him last year around halloween on the streets and decided to give him a calm, warm home for his last days. turned out to be a few months! 19 years of age, and even with bad kidneys and teeth he was full of energy and commitment, true champ.
he even once fought with me for a turkey that i left on the kitchen counter for less than a minute. he is an absolute legend.

A throwback and a update of my "ricing" journey from a year ago.

mid-night boredom led me to these places on google maps.
If you are a tourist and want to visit Bari, just make sure you double check who you are renting your accommodation from for your trip.
My choice was Okey Homes Bari / Okey Homes Prenotazioni.
The story is:
We booked the flat on booking. com in February 2026 for June 2026. Everything was setup, the flights, the activities in Bari. Everything.
A few days before the flight, we got a message from them on Booking and on Whatsapp that they cannot let us stay at the rented flat, because of "bureaucratic circumstances" which they would not explain to us any further.
We thought it was just a slight last-minute inconvenience, especially problematic to them.
This was the first red flag. So we started negotiating with them on how to resolve this issue since our flight is in less than a week. They gave us one or two choices but both were not suitable for our needs. No kitchen, no view of the sea, far away from town. We declined and found their page online, apart from booking, and found a apartment we would like instead of the one we booked initially.
They said that it would be okay to rent it, but we would need to refund our previous choice on booking . com and cover the difference.
The fact that makes up another red flag, is that the inital booking we made back in February 2026 was "non refundable", which they knew and so they asked us to submit some kind of a request on the booking. com website that they could accept so that we receive our money back.
Another red flag (red flag count: 3) is that when talking to Okey Homes over the phone, their employee told me the reason we cannot stay was minor renovations at the apartment. Why didnt they tell us that in the first place? Why didnt they plan the renovations when there is no one renting it? Well okay maybe this is a last-minute fix... i dont know.
Stinky.
What we did was, we contacted booking, described the whole situation and to our surprise they reacted very caring to the whole matter. Upon the booking. com support staff checking more details they found out that Okay Homes Bari has a problem with "over booking". Yet another reason as to why we cant stay there which the host themselves would not provide us.
The outcome is that booking. com let us choose another accomodation within the range of what we already paid + a little higher and said they will cover the difference, and that they will contact Okey Homes and take appropriate measures.
Upon further private investigation, i found that they have only one 1 star review on google. And yes, i may have not checked their reviews on booking but we had someone else book all of this for us, but that doesnt matter any more, just a lesson for me.
A couple of funny facts:
The whole conversation through whatsapp with Okey Homes was quite funny because of how desperate they were to keep us anywhere, and have us pay more. At the end, after i stopped messaging with them after booking resolved our problem, they sent me a very not polite message which escalated to them practically sending messages all CAPS on how are they renting 90 properties across all Bari and how we could wish we chose their flat instead of someone elses.
Well i thought booking let them know that our booking with them has been cancelled by booking, but apparently not, or thez didnt see that.
Please, beware that this host is not very trustworthy and may create problems just upon the start of your trip if you are a tourist. If you had any good or bad experiences with them, let me know im very interested.
TL;DR Dont book anything from Okey Homes Bari / Okey Homes Prenotazioni, because they may want to rip you off, just like they tried to rip us off.

Hey, me and my partner booked a flat to stay at a few months back (for security reasons we wanted to have everything planned). Everything was alright, perfect and on the spot until, this week (4 days before the flight to our destination) the host messaged us about them not being able to let us stay at the apartment we booked.
we were confused, because their message lacked any explanation as to why we cant stay there, but also confused because come on, we booked it in like early 2025 and its now 4 days before the flight... wtf?
eitherway we thought at first that there are some reasons for that so we started negotiating with the host to either give us a new accommodation or let us choose one. the flat we booked for our stay was a "non-refundable" offer which made the whole stink like some sort of a scam. so after a day or two of negotiating, and basically saying no to any of their offers for worse standard apartaments or them asking to cover the difference if we want the same standard, we reported it to booking and hung on call with ther 1st lvl support the whole day.
the positive outcome is that booking.com allowed us and accepted our new accommodation choice, and covered the difference which was not more expensive than the original offer.
the host to beware is: Okey Homes Bari.
they host a lot of accommodations in the Bari region in italy, but basially their form of desperate contact, AND THE FACT THAT WHEN WE CONTACTED BOOKING THEY SENT US INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO GET INTO THE FLAT. seems like they just wanted to scam us for money.
please, dont rent any flat from them if you go visit bari because:
TL;DR - Okey Homes Bari, are scammers greedy for your money.
