Fuck Reddit, I hate most of you

Most of you ruined the world more than the people you target with your hatred. You got trump elected.

I hope you all reap what you sow.

App gone. Suck a big one. Fuck you.

Is constantly finding things to stress out about just an elderly parent hobby or a sign of decline?

My mom, 71, has always been a bit scatterbrained (even in her 30s she would cycle through names when talking to us until she hit the right one, i.e. “Dan-Mark-Ken-jame-John, sorry, John, can you get the…”) but it wasn’t until recently that I’ve suspected a sharp decline. She and my dad live together and he doesn’t seem overly concerned (same old stuff he’s been frustrated with for 45 years) but I’m worried he might just be a frog in a boiling pot.

Lately it seems like she has a real or imagined emergency everyday. For instance, she traded in their iPhones by mail and she called me at work having a breakdown because she’s afraid they’ll charge her for both if she can’t get the transfer done today. I checked and she has a month to get the old phone back to them.

This happens EVERY DAY. Sometimes the crisis is her thoughts on my son needing to be in a different school. (He’s fine. He got in trouble for running around at nap time.)

She’s also expanding her lifelong name-cycling problem to other words and blaming it on stress. I practically had to translate to a server the other day at a restaurant. This is stress that is caused by her having a daily invented crisis. Could be stress, I don’t know. I’m just wondering if this is a sign anyone else has noticed that later turned out to be an age-related disease.

Where are you PIP adjusters at with e-bikes?

I’ve heard through attorneys that some companies are in full denial mode whereas others will cover anything with pedals. It’s wild that there’s no definitive case law.

If you are comfortable sharing your company, go ahead, but if not, let’s just get a general consensus.

What’s the real deal with attorneys and sketchy chiropractors?

Are there kickbacks from the Chiros to the firms?

Like, I just don’t get it. These chiros pretty much do nothing for the patients. Most of the time they don’t even see the actual DC. I know they do nothing because no one ever continues to see them after their BI settlement.

I’ve seen plenty of claims pay the limits on a hospital visit and an MRI. Maybe an ortho visit. The chiro isn’t necessary to get the settlement…so why?

That just brings me back to: are the firms getting a kickback from the chiros?

It’s the only reason I can see for putting someone through 3-5 visits per week for a muscle strain.

What do unrepresented people do when they see a chiro? They go to a reputable one like once a week for a little while. What do attorney repped people do? They go to a chiro that doesn’t even have a Google listing 87 times and report little to no improvement. We won’t even get into the cases with no injury where someone gets an attorney on day 13 and suddenly needs to treat daily.

It’s so blatantly corrupt and it raises all of our insurance rates. Why must this happen?

41M frustrated about finances with 38F

We have been together 11 years and married 5. I keep giving up on this but it keeps becoming an issue. She won’t share finances. We don’t share a bank acct. we don’t share anything. I pay 92% of our bills and debts, and she chips in the 8% but if I ask for any more, it’s on an as needed basis. I’ve brought it up a dozen times and now the conversation basically goes “Can we just share a bank acct for bills?” “Nope, not talking about it” What am I supposed to do?

I’m feeling like the wrinkly guy in the meme. “Okay”.

I love her and I love my family, we must stay together. I just don’t fucking get it. We’ve talked about retirement planning, and budgeting. I’ve even had her sign off on a budget that uses both of our incomes to pay the bills and leave us with savings. Still I get “Nope”. I have no savings. I pay into my retirement and whatnot, but I’m hitting the end of every month with $0.00 or less.

Is there something I’m missing here? Shoe on the other foot, I’d just hand her my paychecks and be happy not to worry about bills. Instead I have to be like “hey my account will be overdrawn by your car payment, can you float me $200?” Like I’m begging for money. And when I do that I have no idea if she has $200 or not. I’m at my wits end.

Idk what kind of answer I’m looking for here. I’ve tried everything.

She’s probably afraid I’d spend her money and we wouldn’t have a backup, but I don’t spend anything. I’m still using the lifetime supply of soap we got 8 years ago. I’m wearing 15 year old clothes. The last video game I bought was NHL 16. I eat what we buy, I don’t use uber. I spend maybe $40 per week on myself if you include the gas I use to get to work and an occasional non-packed lunch. The rest goes entirely to shared bills or 401k/IRA. I see these videos about reducing my budget and I’m like “I already don’t eat out, I have like one meal per day from my fridge, my car is already a 20 year old beater, I have no subscriptions, I spend $0 on myself, I have the cheapest car insurance available, I refinanced my mortgage when rates were 2%, where else am I supposed to save money?” I need my wife to partner on this.

The Reddit experience: Hey idiot, you messed up somehow

Whether you broke a rule or said something too obvious, or said something exactly right, there’s one guarantee in Reddit: you f**ked up.

That’s right. You f**ked up no matter what.

Did you tell people not to leave hot coals under thin layers of sand on a beach? Welp, you’re the problem with society as a whole, because you failed to consider that many people will defend to the death their right to burn the feet of children whose parents forgot to comb the beach with a rake.

Did you tell people to appreciate their elders and spend time helping them clean? You’re the stupidest motherfucker of all because you failed to consider that some people have elders that don’t want that.

Did you attempt to alert people to an emergency in your area? Dumbass, they already know and you should be banned for even posting an article that’s 2 min old for the 3rd time today.

Oh…oh no….oh god no…did you just share a personal experience? What the fuck is wrong with you? That doesn’t belong in the casual sub! You’re clearly mad so it’s a rant. But no, it’s not a rant, it’s anger, but it’s not that, it’s something else! Why would you think you could post your thoughts to an open forum you stupid, worthless asshole.

You’ve cleared it all up, you understand Reddit.

I’m glad we have an understanding now. You have hundreds of thousands of fake points. Whatever you do, don’t forget an apostrophe…FUCK NO. You forgot to use an apostrophe and you argued with a mod about the validity of a post that was up all day without the apostrophe…you absolute cretin! You should be banned forever.

Roleplay aside. I realize it’s not just the mods and platform. People mostly suck. I swear I could post a 3 day forecast for a city and someone would tell me how wrong and insulting it is to repost the weather.

LPT: Start helping your elderly family members go through/tidy their stuff before their decline.

We all accumulate stuff throughout our lives and it often ends up in closets/attics/garages. Much of it can be thrown out, while some has obvious value. The in-between stuff is the issue.

With one family member, we waited too long and she can’t remember what or where anything is, but knows that she’s missing something. Photos, mementos, treasures, etc. It’s been sad, and since she’s downsizing to assisted living, I feel like a lot of stuff in her old home is going to be lost to a lack of time and resources as her house is being prepped for sale.

My recommendation is that if you happen to be visiting an older family member, just ask if they have anything in the attic/garage/basement that they’d like help de-cluttering. If you don’t do it now with their help, you’re going to have to do it later anyway. Worst case of starting early: it’s all junk and you got a jump start on clearing it out. Best case of starting early: there’s some stuff with sentimental or monetary value that you might have missed otherwise that you and your loved one can still enjoy while they’re active.

Edit: as another comment mentioned, you don’t have to say “de-cluttering”, you could frame it as a chance to have them tell you about their things. You don’t even have to throw things out. You can just sort.
