My partner is chronically ill and also has Audhd. I adore my partner of 4 years and also they are very much oriented towards negativity and have a very hard time ever seeing anything positive happening right around them. I have also seen where when they don’t get the feedback from me that I understand what they’re saying that they repeat the same words but get louder, big hand gestures and more distressed. So naturally I want to make sure they feel heard. The situation I can use help with is that Every. Single. Morning. They start the day by asking me how I am and then they immediately expect me to ask them the same question. And Every. Single. Morning the answer is (my interpretation) grumpy, complaining, negative and usually ends in them crying and despair or often angry at me. It feels like a compulsive routine they repeat without thinking. Which ruins our ability to get along the rest of the day. They have a lot going on worthy to complain about. Life is hard especially with chronic illnesses on top of everything else. But their constant negativity and their anger when I don’t join them in those head spaces is really really hard on my mental health and I need to be fit in order to take care of both of us.

My questions: How do I (with compassion) get out of this morning routine? How do I explain the effects of their constant negativity on my limited ability to be around them without hurting them? Am I being ableist or blind spots in some way?

ADHD can be a real bummer sometimes and they were already having a super hard day and left it in the card reader. But whoever did the kind thing and turned their card in is a real gem of a human. You could have filled up everyone’s tank that day with it and we would have had nothing to live on but you didn’t. We are working class just like the majority around here and the random kindness of a stranger like you could make or break us just like most of us. It’s extremely hope instilling when you see that neighborly kindness that I grew up experiencing in this county and came to expect in country folk still alive and well. Hello all, I am trying to install rubber stair nosing on 23 steps of newly installed marmoleum flooring. The rubber nosing company recommends a product that only comes in a gallon size and is $250 USD. Do I need a gallon? Or does anyone have a cheaper solution? Preferably clear or easy to clean up excess. TYIA

Hi, I’m looking for some advice from local backyard birders. I’m not novice but always trying to improve especially since I’ve only lived at my new place for a short time. I have a variety of feeders and I was having great success with attracting a lot of different songbirds as well as the occasional flicker or jay. However I got the idea that I would switch up my food and it seems like doing that made them disappear? I was feeding the big box of bird food from Costco with dried meal worms mixed in and attempted to instead try hand mixing millet, black sunflower seed and meal worms. They seem to be voting with their wings. lol. Do the song birds in this area just have the same loyalty and love for Costco as I do? Do they hate change? Or is the start of spring influx of birds slowing down? I’m lost and would welcome any tips and suggestions for quality affordable seed. Thanks so much!
