Looking for a private parking spot
I live near 52nd&4th. The parking lot nearby doesn’t have any spots available. Street parking is rough here and I leave my car elsewhere at the moment. I am starting a new job soon and will need it closer. Thanks!

Parents warned me against them after they treated my dad who was in a wheelchair at the time like shit and destroyed their luggage only to get refunded and mailed new luggage months later.
Last night they cancelled our direct flight to Cancun Wednesday morning and didn’t offer another flight until next Monday 5 days later or refund. Took the refund and had to pay another $1200 to fly with air Canada with a 9 hour layover in Toronto. I see that we’re not the only ones affected and that JetBlue is tanking. Good for them
My sister and I are not cut from the same cloth even though we are siblings and were raised by the same gem of parents. We’re 7 years apart and very different, feels like 2 different generations.
Parents worked hard and did everything for us. I’d say we we were both spoiled but she’s the baby. She’s closer to 30 than 20, lives at home, doesn’t work, doesn’t do much besides sit in the living room and rot on phone or tv. She has some health issues, is very overweight, has terrible hygiene. Lazy, entitled, “disabled” victim mentality.
I had to work hard and figured life out on my own, but my parents always supported me and still support me how they can. They are very giving, as they both didn’t have much growing up. Mom always says that I’ll never understand until I have my own children. I have a solid career and take care of my health and fitness.
I love my sister, but I struggle to empathize with her given her lifestyle choices. I feel like we can never have a serious conversation about anything because she becomes avoidant about difficult conversations. Our mindsets are extremely different. Whenever I go to their house, there is this sad depressing atmosphere because she just sits in the same spot complaining about physical ailments or that she is tired. It’s like she’s 80yo and helpless.
My parents still work full time and support her fully. She had a job pre-covid during college. Apparently she fell on the job, hurt her back, and it’s been a snowball effect since then. But truthfully she was still out of shape with poor hygiene even then. Thing is, she’s incredibly smart and has a lot of potential. However she’s incredibly lazy due to anxiety/depression (I’ve dealt with that as well so I understand, as did my mom at her age).
I remember in grade school my mom would always be on top of me making sure I was doing my work and studying. I was a great student and did well academically and gpa. My sister would consistently get in trouble due to not doing her homework. My mom wouldn’t find out she even had homework until she would get in trouble or bad grades for not doing it. She wouldn’t tell my mom about exams, wouldn’t study, though she would do well compared to the work she put in. Fast forward to college, she failed classes and eventually dropped out due to trouble with zoom classes during covid. She ended up going back to CC but doesn’t really have anything to show for it.
I work in healthcare treating patients. I warned my mom a few years ago- if she keeps down this road my parents are going to have a nursing home in their living room. That’s basically what it seems like now at times. It’s sad to see and have to witness my parents have to deal with. She is very skiddish of hard times or having to deal with anything tough. Because mommy and daddy are always there. Never learned how to drive, not willing to learn, parents still drive her and pick her up to certain places. It upsets me because my parents are ~60. They are not the pinnacle of great health but I help push them to get better. I fear that when it’s time to have to take care of them, that burden will solely be on myself on top of tending to my sister if she doesn’t get her shit together and grow up.
My mom is the coddler, and my dad thinks along the same lines as me (though he has the boomer mentality regarding mental health not sure he quite gets that given the difference of upbringing). Every time I bring it up to my mom she is always making excuses for her in a way of saying that she was doing better until the next thing randomly comes up. I love my parents and we have a great relationship. But I feel like that will start to whither if I start pulling back because my sister is just always in that house doing fuck all.
My wife, parents, and myself were all set to go on a much needed resort vacation in a few days. It was booked in advance and we were all looking forward to it. Recently, my sister has gone to the ER multiple times and requires further testing to see what may be the cause of her symptoms. I suspect something GI related, but they are trying to rule out neurological just to be safe. My mom calls me up the other night crying in panic because her and my dad just decided they would no longer go as my sister started to experience symptoms again. I suggested taking her to the ER again and trying to get some things expedited to ease anxiety which is possibly making everything worse. The only reason my wife and I planned this vacation was because my parents were going and invited us. My wife and I are still planning to go and celebrate her birthday, however I feel this looming sadness about my parents not being able to go now because they need to tend to my sister. I’m tired of dealing with it, and hearing about it because nothing changes if nothing changes.
Picture is today’s lunch- mediocre chicken shawarma wrap with salad, fries, and a Pepsi zero to wash it down.
I used these briefly for indoor court and a turf workout. Really like the fit and supportive feel but I play mostly outdoor. Apparently there’s an XDR version? But I can’t find it. Any solid recommendations for an outdoor shoe?
33M, ~6ft 210lbs, athletic background. I play mainly in the NYC parks.
My fiance and I have been together 8.5 years, engaged for 2. Planning on getting married in the next year or so. We are both early fairly early in our second careers and work M-F. Pre-covid we would frequent different ramen spots in the city. We have become homebodies with busier lives, especially when we were living in a smaller city with not so great food options comparatively, opting more for takeout. We both love food and I love that about our relationship. She is my best friend and treats me right.
Story time for all the sad boys here who remind me of myself at 23/24 (I’m 33 now)- I once dated a girl who wouldn’t really eat in front of me, weirded me out- on our first date she ordered a quinoa salad at a Mexican restaurant and barely touched it. I thought I loved her but I later realized it was mostly for her looks. She was a terrible person on the inside.
She strung me along for 6 months always telling me she wasn’t talking to her ex. I was extremely anxious and depressed during that time addicted to checking my phone for her texts. I couldn’t sleep, eat, stopped working out, and quit weed because she thought it was degenerate behavior. I would give her a ride with me to class frequently. Even stayed up with her all night once to help her with some stupid project.
I had very little experience with women before her and was a hopeless romantic. I once planned an elaborate scavenger date which she called me in the middle of it saying she thought it was stupid and just wanted to meet up. Then she made me take her home in a cab.
Said she was a “traditional” girl and the guy should pay…yikes.
She made a racist comment in my car once which I for some reason overlooked at the time.
I bought her a small valentine bear and chocolates for Valentine’s Day (just before my birthday) and we agreed on a date. I texted her to confirm the day before and she texted me the day of saying “I can’t go out with you because I’m talking to my ex again”. I immediately called her up and flipped my shit, said some things I probably shouldn’t have but felt good in the moment.
I called my friends at the time in a panic and hung out with them- I desperately needed it. I was able to shrug it off fairly quickly and learned all my lessons. Blocked.
2 months later I saw her again at a bar, we had a mutual group of friends. I was having a great time with my friends and she approached me. Basically telling me she found out her ex was talking to other girls. I said “wow, crazy how that works”. Then she offered to take me home. I looked around at my friends and the good time we were having and said “nah I think I’ll stay here”. She proceeded to call me a little boy. The upset/embarrassed face she made while leaving the bar with her friends after that was bittersweet. I had a good laugh. Never saw or spoke to her again.
Remember boys, it always sucks in the moment. Have good people around you that will tell you what you need to hear. Stop searching, you’ll find your person when you least expect it!
A delicious bowl of Tonkontsu ramen 10/10. I prefer a whole egg, thin egg noodles, and legitimate chashu slabs. We both emptied our bowls. I paid, willingly.
