Score Reposado Tequila Review ⚽️

Score Reposado Tequila – Ceramic Football Vessel
Distillery: Nominally Mexico, spiritually a Saturday rec league
ABV: 40%
Price: $69.99 @ Costco
Rested: Briefly, much like a substitute waiting to be called in
Glassware: Glencairn (because we’re committed to the bit)

Nose
Opens with fresh-cut grass and immediate locker room energy—think sweaty jerseys, damp shin guards, and a hint of lime wedges left out at halftime. A faint thread of agave tries to break through but gets benched quickly.

Palate
Entry shows brief cooked agave, instantly overtaken by green grass clippings and citrus sports drink vibes.
Mid-palate brings salted orange slices, a touch of plastic water bottle, and just enough oak to remind you this is technically reposado.

Finish
Short to medium with dry vegetal notes, chalk dust, and lingering lime + salt. Agave makes a last-second appearance… too late to change the score.

Overall Impression
Less a tequila, more a full sensory soccer experience. You didn’t buy this to sip—you bought it because it’s a ceramic soccer ball full of poor decisions.

Value
The liquid itself suggests a modest price point. The vessel, however, demands to be displayed, discussed, and inevitably defended.

T8KE Score
4 / 10 – Below Average

Final Thought
Best enjoyed as your team loses so you don’t drown your sorrows with your prized collection.

El Ateo?

Every time I go into Total Wine, I’m bombarded by staff to sell me El Ateo. I was browsing the tequila section today, and an employee came up to ask if I needed help with anything. I told him no, but then asked if they got anything rare/wild recently as I was holding Cazcanes Nuestras Raíces 2026. He immediately says, “We got some great El Ateo in” and my facial expression immediately went 😑

What are your thoughts on El Ateo? How does it rank compared to Cascahuin, Tapatio, G4, etc? Is Total Wine hawking the Trek here?

Greetings from Cuba 🇨🇺

Managed to snag some special finds from Cuba. Haven’t seen much on this subreddit about Eminente, but from what I have seen, it’s high regarded. I’m very curious to open each up and try… the Eminente 7 year is supposed to be sweet with notes of coffee, dulce de leche, and vanilla.

Any thoughts on the others?

Prime Ribeyes

I’m going to get murdered for no photo of the money shot, but I had to share anyway. Salt dry brine for 48 hours, vacuum sealed with pepper, garlic powder, and thyme, 135° for two hours, and then seared on the sizzle zone on my Napoleon grill. Rested for 10 minutes to get internal temp of 145°. They came out incredible and were unbelievably tender and flavorful.

You all picked one… but I had to leave with three!

I visited Dallas this week and stopped by Liquor King, which I now know to be a phenomenal source for some harder-to-find bottles. You all commented your picks on my last post, and I decided to take a few bottles home that looked interesting to me.

Siete Leguas Siete Décadas – Sweet cooked agave, caramel, citrus, and a little oak. Super balanced and easy to sip.

Tequila Ocho Añejo Old Fitzgerald – Vanilla, butterscotch, and bourbon barrel notes with plenty of agave still coming through.

Caballito Cerrero Chato Blanco 46 – Big agave bomb with black pepper, herbs, minerality, and a nice proof kick. Bold and flavorful.

If anybody needs me, I’ll be enjoying myself this weekend… perhaps a little too much. ¡Salud! 🥃

New Louisville Barrel House “Cali Butter Cream” — $119.99 seen @ Hawthorne, CA and San Juan Capistrano, CA

Thinking about grabbing another bottle. Easily one of the tastiest high proofs I’ve experienced.

Havana Sunglasses

Looking for some old Havana style sunglasses that fit that classic 1950s Cuba vibe. Price isn’t an issue. Need some ideas for what could fit the look.
