[IYL] Slow acoustic sad indie rock
Lake Anna has always sounded more like a more upbeat Kings of Convenience. But in their new EP, “Still Here”, John slows things way down with just vocals, guitar, piano, and up right bass.

Mainly electric bassist here. I love my RNDI but I don’t think the +2MΩ input impedance is enough for my Realist SoundClip on my double bass. I want to take on more double bass work, but I don’t want to be in a pickle mid gig.
A buddy recommended the Grace Design ALiX Acoustic Instrument Preamp, but the LR Baggs is 1/4 the cost. I’ve seen good things online and am thinking about getting on; I feel like I see them on the used market all the time.
Will this hit par for gigs, or should I really be considering something better?
Hello! Bass player here. I’ve been playing more country music recently and one thing stands out… the drums struggle mightily to contribute. Some folks don’t have the technique, some don’t have the imagination, and some… idk what they’re doing.
But I’m curious about why drummers struggle with country music. I’m trying to be empathetic to what they’re dealing with. Also I’m trying to save the gig with the groove because some of these drummers… Yiiikes.
FINALLY got some time to mess with my pedals again. Loving the versatility of the EQ2 and how the other pedals respond to it. Bass Envelope is new to me. Finally dialed in a sound I love :)
It’s been a while since I did wedding/corporate gigs. I’m thinking about getting back into them and noticed a lot of players playing 5 String J Style basses. Looking for recommendations for 5 String J basses that can deliver for those kind of gigs, but I can get on the used market. Thanks!
Long story short:
- Car breaks down out of town
- Insurance will only cover tow to nearest Pep Boys
-Pep Boys quotes me $1.7k for a new fuel pump. Not much of a choice so I tell them to fix it.
-Pep Boys fixed fuel pump. Sends link for online payment.
-Pay the bill. Money comes out of bank, but Pep Boys link says they had an issue running the card.
-Call the store. They confirm they have not received payment. Call bank to flag charge. Call Pep Boys cooperate who pretty much say “I don’t know, man”.
-Waiting for someone to do something, or at least for charge to get out of pending.
Is this normal? They won’t let me pick up my car until THEY receive the payment. But I have never paid for a car and had THE CAR PLACE have issues receiving payment.
I couldn’t find a lot of details about this pedal. But a $30 pedal is a $30 pedal. I’m excited to make some music with it and see how it sounds!
