What does childcare look like for your young kids?

I have a 2.5 year old son and another due in August. We currently have a nanny (not interested in daycare - tried one day and we all got norovirus) weekday mornings and Sunday from noon til bedtime. I want to make sure both my kids get the 1:1 attention from their parents and their nannies! We will also have a night nanny 3 nights a week for our new LO. What works for you?

How are you using childcare to handle two kids?

I’ve got an almost 2.5 year old son and another son due early August. Right now we have a nanny from 8-2 on weekdays and 12-10 on Sundays. We are looking to hire another nanny once my next son is born. What works for you?

Advice on recurring evening babysitters

We’ve got a daytime nanny who we love, but she can’t do evenings from Monday-Thursday, so we’ve gotten recurring babysitters to do two of those evenings for our son so we don’t burn out. However, while we have had good experiences with these babysitters, they do seem to cancel fairly frequently. I think one issue might be that they usually have daytime jobs and so they, like us, are tired by the evening and don’t really want to take care of a high energy toddler, so canceling is easy. But it is disruptive if we’ve got plans. Does anyone have any advice? We pay well and we are quite flexible with their schedules, it’s just the last minute cancellations are hard.

Edit: to any salty moms with a problem with my childcare situation - my son is absolutely thriving, hit all his milestones early, and I’m not killing myself in the process. There’s no medal for suffering :)

7 months pregnant and changing my diet actually helped me feel better

This is my second pregnancy, and I've had horrible heartburn since mid-April. I started taking a Prevacid in the morning as soon as soon as it started happening, which helped, but it wasn't perfect. The kicker was a few weeks ago when, after having eaten a chocolate bar and then napping right after, I woke up choking on chocolate-flavored acid. Needless to say, I've had no appetite for chocolate since then, and in general desserts have been ruined for me. Just one of many things I'm staying away from for this pregnancy 😄

I'm now on my version of an anti-heartburn diet, which is a lot of tofu, whole grains, veggies, and some low-acid fruit. And I actually am feeling better in general! I was always skeptical of giving up sugary snacks because it felt like the one thing I was still allowed to enjoy, but I'm glad I did. I've had more energy for my son, I feel less large and awful, and the heartburn is no longer a problem. I don't feel deprived like I thought I would.

Just posting this for my fellow ladies who struggle with heartburn - it might be more in your control than you think.

Does anybody know why Honolulu Fish has been out of stock for 1.5 months?

As the title says. I ordered their sashimi salmon once, really liked it, and ever since they have been out of stock. My email to their customer service went unanswered. Do I need to find a new sushi provider that will mail to my home?

Does anyone order from Honolulu Fish?

I ordered from Honolulu Fish back in early April and I loved the quality, but everything's been out of stock on their website for over a month now. I didn't get a response back from customer service. Should I try to find another sushi provider?
